Summer fun doily

Hi,

Sometimes we tat things and they just don’t work out,  this is a doily I originally tatted this 49 years ago was the first pattern I ever Tatted,  and I thought I would re visit the pattern again,  Big mistake,  everything was fine until the last row,  it did not  work out,  I have spent days looking at the pattern working out where the mistake is,  I cannot find it, and now I am so fed up with it,  that’s it,  I am going to cut off the last row,  making it a smaller doily,   My original one is worn out tried and well not looking it’s best,  but after 49 years I am too worried.

My hubby said if you cut off some and redo it will it work out or will you waste more thread on it,  no idea but the cost of thread these days compared to when I learnt to tat and this was the first patter I ever Tatted is a vast difference.  I will one day go back to it and put another row on it to finish it off but for now,   I am moving on I am so fed up with it.  I don’t give up easily but this has given me so much grieve, what can I say,  I’ve  had it,

The pattern is from Learning tatting a coats booklet 1970’s  and thread is lizbeth summer fun no 20.

  2. What a shame Margaret, but sometimes you just have to give in, it does seem a beautiful pattern and the colours are gorgeous, Kate x

  4. This is not like you at all Margaret, you can 'Tat' just about anything which makes me think the problem is in the write up of the pattern, don't give up, just take a breath and try again another day because it looks like it will be beautiful.xx

  5. Such a shame this didn't work out Margaret, put it away for a while and go back to it, you never know, looking at it with fresh eyes you might see what went wrong.
