I hope you have a lovely christmas hopefully I can catch up with the blogs over christmas I am not well at the moment,  I have an x-ray on the 29th December so I am hoping they might find something.

CD Sunday Challenge - Christmas Flowers or Foliage

Hi,
This is the last challenge of the year and this fortnight the challenge is Christmas Flower or Foliage choosen by Meg.
For this card I used the CD A little bit of everything by My craft Studio for the backing paper and image which was matted onto green shinny holographic card
I die cut the poinsettias onto glittery card,  with a white flourish  and die leaves,  and added a green and gold ribbon down the side.

CD Sunday challenge now has a Facebook page for those who would like to enter the challenge and do not have a blog,   here is a link to the page
I hope you will visit the CD Sunday Challenge site, and remember if you want to enter the challenge you must use something from a CD no matter how small and let us know which CD you used.  Here is a link to CD Sunday Challenge blog  we would be pleased to see you.

CD Sunday Challenge - Christmas Present

Hi,
Nearly to the end of the year and another challenge from the CD Sunday challenge group,  this time it was Pamela's turn to chose and she chose Christmas Present.
This time I made a shaped card in the shape of a stack of presents,   the image and the bottom present is wrapped in backing paper  from Victorian Christmas CD by Joanna Sheen.  The second present is wrapped in green pattern card and the third present is wrapped in christmas paper from stock.  The imaged was matted onto silver card,   there are three different coloured ribbons each present has a different ribbon.
CD Sunday Challenge now have a Facebook page for those who don't have a blog but would like to join in the challenge,   here is a link to the page

Ice Drops

Hi,
Its a cold morning here,  no snow yet but there is snow on the hills in Scotland,   it can stay there.   I thought you might like to see my latest ice drops,   above is Barbara's Snowflake Ice drop  by Barbara Murdock which I use a bungle beads instead of a round bead,  I made the chains a little longer for the longer bead.

This is Cosmic Ice drop by Nicola Bowersox I really do like this pattern,   I used purple beads and because I did not have the right colour gem I found I had the exact colour in a nail varnish so I painted the back of a clear gem.  Works well and matched perfectly.
Both have a spiral chain to hang them on.

Both ice drops were tatted in Lizbeth thread no 20

Hope you are having a nice weekend

Polish doily from Craftree update.

Hi,

Well here is an update on this doily,     I should have put this on last week as below is where I am now.   I started the long chains in white and this is rounds 6 and 7,  I don't like the long chains,  I have only roughly blocked this hoping when I get more rounds on it will straighten out a bit more.

Here is the latest round in purple round eight.   I was unable to sew in the ends yesterday as the light was very bad.   I really don't know if I am going to like this doily or not, time will tell,  its not my usual colouring,   sometimes you have to try something different.  again this was only roughly blocked,  I have been doing Carolyn's method of damping the doily and rolling it out with the rolling pin,  it works saves using the iron too.

What do you think?

Happy Birthday Vernon

Hi,

Today is Vernons Birthday,   and I made this card for him,   I used Joanna Sheens House Mouse Project book no 1 for the image and backing paper,  I matted the image and a sentiment on magenta miri card,   and matching ribbon down the side.   Not the usual colour card for a man but he loves a cup of tea and I thought this image of the teapot is just him.

We have a busy few days coming up,  I expect by Thursday I will be knackered.
Have a good week

CD Sunday Challenge - Christmas things with wings

Hi,
Another challenge at the CD Sunday Challenge blog this time its Jane's choice and she choose Christmas things with wings.
I am also entering this card to the crafting with dragonflies challenge, which is Christmas card in no traditional colours.
I won this angel on Facebook last year from Craft World and its the first time I have used her, so I felt she was perfect for this challenge.  The paper comes from the CD, Glitter and Glitz Art Deco Christmas CD by Debbi Moore,  it proves you don't need to use images just the backing papers from CD's.
I cut an oval out of the card, cover the front and put a separate piece behind the angel so she hangs down in the middle of the oval.  I used a white piece of ribbon to hang her and another piece of white glittery ribbon for a bow above her.   I finished the card off with some silver sequins and die cut a Merry Christmas.
CD Sunday now have a Facebook Page for those who would like to join in the challenge without a blog, here is a link to the page
I hope you will visit the CD Sunday Challenge site, and remember if you want to enter the challenge you must use something from a CD no matter how small and let us know which CD you used.  Here is a link to CD Sunday Challenge blog  we would be pleased to see you.

Birthday card with Bling

 Hi,

Today is a very wet and windy day here in Somerset,    i'm hoping the light will get better as the day goes one,  not looking like it at the moment.
I saw this challenge when I was commenting on Wynn's blog,  and thought it would be nice to enter,  I don't do many challenges so hopefully my card will be OK.
The challenge on Crafting with Dragonflies is Stash with Bling,   well this card is from my stash,  the images are left overs from another card, from Gnomes and Faries CD La Pashe,  Everything on this card is from stash including the ribbon and gems.  I glittered the images to add extra sparkle.  The images were put on flat as this card is going to be put in the post and travel overseas.

Hope you have a lovely weekend,

CD Sunday Challenge - Take a Stamp

Hi,
Another fortnight has flown by and time for another challenge from the CD Sunday Challenge group,  this time is was Carol's turn to choose and she went for "Take a Stamp".
This has been my nightmare challenge I rarely these days do any stamping,  so I first had to find my favorite stamp which I like to emboss with,   embossing well that was another thing when did I last do any of that,   so a real challenge.
Anyway I think it turned out quite well,  I used Fantasy by Penny black stamp and embossed it three times in white and green embossing powders,   die cut the image into an oval,   and used the backing paper from A winter walk in the Countryside CD.  I used some silver ribbon and made a matching bow.  I placed red, green and white gems in the branches of the trees,  and die cut a father christmas with reindeer and I cant remember the name of the die, and finished it off with silver peel off Merry christmas.
I hope you will visit the CD Sunday Challenge site, and remember if you want to enter the challenge you must use something from a CD no matter how small and let us know which CD you used.  Here is a link to CD Sunday Challenge blog  we would be pleased to see you.

Polish Doily from Craftree

Hi,

Just thought I would update you on the doily, as you can see I have done round four and five and this time I have used a shaded pink Cordonnet No 20,   I found this one in my draw of stock,  no idea when I brought it but it has a lovely shine on it,  and I did enjoy tatting with it.  I still have the ends to sew in but the light has not been since I got back from Sheffield.
We had good news from the hospital the fluid has gone,  the eyesight has improved and they don't want to see me for six months,   at least it will be spring when we do the journey again.  Just need to get rid of this cough and the remains of the flu.
I am now on round six,  from now on its lots of long chains.
Hope you are having a good day

Happy birthday

Hi,
For five weeks I never went near my craft room,  but I needed to make a birthday card,  so last weekend I ventured in,  I must be feeling better because this is was I came up with.
The image and backing paper came from  Shoes in Bloom CD from Ooh La La creations,    the image I matted onto silver card,   the die cut shoe was a free die from a magazine,  and the velvet ribbon from stash.,  finished off with a silver peel off.

I hope she likes it,   I'm pleased I managed to find some mojo at last.   my mojo went walk about with the flu.
Hope you have a lovely weekend.

Polish Doily from Craftree

Hi,
A couple of weeks ago Fox said why don't I try to tat the doily she had given up on,  well then she sent me the pattern.  After looking at the pattern I thought why not try, so here is the start,  I used Lizbeth white in the middle and second round with Lizbeth purple both no 20.
So Fox here you are the start of it,  am not sure how far I will get or how long it will take me but looking at Wendy's gorgeous doily I am hoping I can finish it.
Watch this space as they say.
This is a scheduled post as I am in Sheffield finding out if the treatment has worked.

Robins Test tatting - Snowflakes

Hi,
It was a pleasure to test tat Robins new snowflake patterns,   I really enjoyed these patterns even though I was struggling with flu at the time,  and there were many days when I never even looked at my shuttles.
These two patterns are called Radiating clovers,  the patterns are clear with diagram and written instructions.
The top one is tatted with Lizbeth no 20 in white.
The blue one's pattern said to be tatted in size 40 to 80,  80 is impossible for my eyesight,  and having just finished the injections I had no idea if I could tat with size 40,   my stock of size 40 is very limited and I had no white so the nearest for a snowflake was this variegated blue,  its an old ball by coats colour number 168, no idea if thats the current number but thats whats on the ball.   My eyesight has improved and I tatted this snowflake without any problems,   I think I will be trying to tat with no 40 again soon.
Now for the cock up I never told Robin but this was my first attempt at her pattern,  I went sailing on, between coughing and feeling yuck,  it was all going wonderful until half way around the second round I look and found I had done seven rings in the middle and not six,   well I did finish the snowflake and to me it looks OK,  OK it has seven arms instead of six but whose counting.
Thank you Robin for letting me test your gorgeous patterns.
                                 Hugs

CD Sunday Challenge - When Autumn leaves start to fall

Hi,
Gosh the fortnights are going fast this year and here it is time for another challenge,  this time its Jocelyn's turn and she choose When Autumn leaves start to fall.
For this card I decided to try something different and do a tunnel card from the CD Walk in the countryside by Creative Crafting.  I do like this CD it has some beautiful images and each image can be used in different ways.
I added some flowers from stash, and a happy birthday peel off.
I hope you will visit the CD Sunday Challenge site, and remember if you want to enter the challenge you must use something from a CD no matter how small and let us know which CD you used.  Here is a link to CD Sunday Challenge blog  we would be pleased to see you.

CD Sunday Challenge - For the Love of Dogs

Hi,
This fortnights challenge on the CD Sunday challenge blog is my choice,  I hope you enjoy my choice which is For the Love of Dogs.

For this challenge there will be an extra prize which has been donated to the team,  this tattered lace die will be an added prize to the winner of the challenge.

For this challenge I made an easel card and I wish they were easier to photo I used Pet set by La Pashe.   This being my favorite breed of dogs and having own several of them, when I saw this image well I just had to use it.
I used the backing paper which went with the image.
I matted the image on silver embossed card, added the die walking my dog which was free from Tatted lace magazine some months ago.  I have been treating my self to this magazine while I have been going through the eye treatment, well thats how I started buying it.   I added silver peel offs in the corners, I also used the smaller image inside the card which I matted on the same silver card.   and finished off the card with two small very dark blue ribbon.
I hope you will visit the CD Sunday Challenge site, and remember if you want to enter the challenge you must use something from a CD no matter how small and let us know which CD you used.  Here is a link to CD Sunday Challenge blog  we would be pleased to see you.

Have a lovely weekend

Pinterest Challenge by the Pin Chicks

Hi,

Today is the day when we Pin chicks show you are choice from Pinterest and what we did,   well this time I dont have much to show you.  What with trips to sheffield for my eye and now not being very well I just have not done a lot.
I tried this pattern by Tat's all She Wrote,  I found it on Pinterest with a link to Marty's blog,  here is the link for you to have a look at her pattern.
My effort is poor,  there is a mistake but I was not worried about it too much, I was going to tat another one,  but I went down with this cold and I have not tatted anything for over two weeks,   I have caught up with the blogs but I am still a long way behind most things.
I used Lizbeth thread Juicy watermelon in no 20 thread.
I did like the pattern but I would like to re-do this in a plain colour rather than a variegated thread.
I have no idea if the others have done anything, as I have not heard but here is a link to their blogs,
Carollyn    and Margaret
There is nothing from Suzanne this time.

CD Sunday Challenge - Mellow Yellow

Hi,
Sorry I have not been around much over the last week,  I have a really bad cold/flu whatever you can call it,  which I came back off holiday with,  more about my holiday in another post when I feel well enough to write it,  I will catch up with you all in time.
Anyway here's another challenge from the CD Sunday challenge team,  this time its Wynn's choice of Mellow Yellow.
For this challenge I used a backing paper from the CD If flowers could talk by Patience Strong  Joanna Sheens CD,  and the parchment flowers came from a new CD I brought when I went to the Parchment Show in Bristol,  Garden creation 3D flowers by Maria Maidment,  I used a leaf die cut which I brought at the show and placed it around a cream oval which I embossed before adding the flowers and putting pearl centers in each one, I finished off the card with cream ribbon and a peel off words.
I hope you will visit the CD Sunday Challenge site, and remember if you want to enter the challenge you must use something from a CD no matter how small and let us know which CD you used.  Here is a link to CD Sunday Challenge blog  we would be pleased to see you.

Update on Project

Hi,

I said I would update you on the tatting project,  its been slow going with tatting other things in between,   all I can say its growing,  the neckline of the dress its going on is quite large around so its going to be a long collar to fit.
I am in no hurry although its is a winter dress so as winter is approaching I better get a move on with it.
I am using Lizbeth thread no 20. and the pattern is Jan's book Tatted Treasures Page 78
While you are reading this I am sitting on a beach soaking up the sun hopefully.

Bab'ys Cardigan

Hi,
I am scheduling this post as I am away
My friend asked me to finish her knitting, she had knitted the back and would I do the rest,  so here it is finished,  it is for her grandson who is a year old.  The picture is not great but I think you can see the pattern and the random wool.
The wool is Drifter by King Cole, and the pattern sorry I gave her back the rest of the left over wool and the pattern so I cant tell you the pattern number.    I can say the wool was lovely and soft and really lovely to knit up.
She's pleased with it and thats all the matters.

Update on Pinterest earrings

Hi,

I have finally finished the other earring to the Pinterest post which I did on the 31st July link to post to remind you.
I used Lizbeth thread no 20 Niagara falls,  with white beads in the middle and blue seed beeds on the rings,    the bead in the middle I think is a shade too big,  I did enjoy this pattern and its tatted on one shuttle, I am sure I will be making more in the future.
Heres is the pattern from Pinterest

I am scheduling this post as I am in Sheffield for the third and last injection in my eye.

Facebook tat-Along with Alenalea

Hi,

I finished this last week but did not have time to blog it, although it has been on Facebook.
This is the tat along with Alenalea,   its a lovely pattern to tat,  and I will be tatting another at some time, I used no 20 Lizbeth thread in Grape Pizzaz and white.   The outside round is very pretty but you need to watch it as I made two big cock ups and had to cut twice.
I am pleased with this doily.
Hope you are having a lovely weekend

Bookmark Competition at Papermill

Hi,
This post went wrong the other day so I am trying again hopefully it will go right this time.
There is a bookmark competition at the moment with Papermill here is a link for you if you wish to enter
https://www.papermilldirect.co.uk/…/handmade-bookmark-chall…
This is my bookmark based on the book I am reading at the moment call The Gypsy Madonna by Santa Montafiore.  Its a good book and is set in France.  Based at a hotel just out the village, the little boy is telling the story and why he does not speak.  A male guest arrives and has all the women at the hotel in a spin, guests and staff.  He likes to play his guitar by the stream or in the garden.   I wont say anymore as I do not want to spill the book for you,
I used blue card stock to represent the sky and cut into an oval shape,  the image is from Joanna Sheens CD The Pamela West collection,  I matted it onto darker blue card, and then onto silver card, corners rounded by a punch,  green flourish sprays die cut and placed the silver guitar on the bookmark, and finished off with a ribbon bow and matching ribbon tie.

CD Sunday Challenge - Let's hear it for the boys

Hi,
Time for another challenge on the CD Sunday Challenge blog this time it is Pamela's choice and she choose Lets hear it for the boys.
For this challenge I thought of using the My craft Studio Elite CD All about the boys,   its a new CD and this is the first card I have made from it.
I used the image and the backing paper that went with it,   added I die cut spray of Ivy and some peel off wellington boots and a flower pot along with the words "Potty about plants"
Men's cards are hard enough to make and I wanted something simple for a change.  I hope you like it.
I hope you will visit the CD Sunday Challenge site, and remember if you want to enter the challenge you must use something from a CD no matter how small and let us know which CD you used.  Here is a link to CD Sunday Challenge blog  we would be pleased to see you.

Happy Anniversary Vernon

Hi,
Today is our 15th Wedding Anniversary,  time has just flown by,  cant believe its 15 years.
I made this card using an embossing folder, you may have remembered on the pinterest challenge I did four cards using this versatile folder well here's another one.
I used red miri card to emboss on and the spray is red feathers, white die cut leaves,  white ribbon which hang two die cut heats,  they are not showing up in the picture very well each has a number on them,  and red silk roses.
While I was making this card he walked into the craft room,  a quick cover up was required hopefully he did not see anything before I gave him the card today.  Its great we are retired but there are times when you just need a bit of time to do anything you don't want them to see,  if you know what I mean.
This card has been a very difficult card to photo so I hope its come out OK.
Have a great day,
                                  Hugs

I chose for this challenge Art Deco,  from the CD Art Deco - Timeless keepsakes card creations,  this is one of my favorite CD's.  I used the image and matching backing paper for the card,  matted the images on silver card and used a piece of lace across the card.  I finished off the card with Art Deco peel offs.
I hope you will visit the CD Sunday Challenge site, and remember if you want to enter the challenge you must use something from a CD no matter how small and let us know which CD you used.  Here is a link to CD Sunday Challenge blog  we would be pleased to see you.
