Mike’s fund raising

Hi,

This is a little unusual post but I have permission from Mike of the Hive in Shepton Mallet to post this and help him raise money for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

These knitted dolls are in the nude, no I did not do any knitting towards them,  but the pictures has been blacked out for certain bits of their bodies,   It’s has and is a talking point not only in Shepton Mallet but around the world,  he’s had people contacting him from all parts of the world.  There is also a book with the patterns in,  which if anyone wants one please contact Mike at the Hive.

This is the piece from The hives Facebook page,

Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance provides life-saving, pre-hospital critical care, to patients in need. They are a vital part of the community across Dorset and Somerset and they rely on your support.

I’m supporting DSAA as the service they provide is 95% funded by charitable giving; by people like you. Last year, they were tasked to 2,424 incidents, with each mission costing approximately £3,500.

Please join me in helping to raise funds for this life-saving service. Together, with your support, they can be there for patients.

We are a local crafting cafe which is a friendly hub for our local community. Our crafting community has created some nudinits to display in our window to fund raise for the Air Ambulance. Interest in our project has been immense and we have made the BBC news; Metro London and press in New Zealand. Due to some complaints as to the nudity a Free The Hive Five campaign has begun. People are asking how to donate to our cause, hence this Just Giving page. Help us reach our target !!

Any donation would be gratefully received

Who ever knitted these they are brilliant,  from a policeman,  to morris dancers,  I wish I could show you more but in the name of keeping the post clean,  and not receiving nasty comments,  I have left it to everyone imagination

CD Sunday challenge - Anything goes #131

 Hi,

This  fortnight I am heading to Scotland and I hope the weather will be kind for us,  Vernon has never been to Scotland and although I have been to most of the trip is was a very very long time ago.  The host this fortnight is Aimes,  her first time as the host,

For my card this fortnight I used Flower Fairies Friends CD by Crafters Companion,  the fairy is called Apple blossom.  I used the backing paper that went with the image ,  I layered the image a few times, I placed bronze peel off lines across the card,  I saw something like this recently and thought it made the card  look different,  I also added bow I made.

CD Sunday Plus challenge has a Facebook page for those who would like to enter the challenge and do not have a blog,   here is a link to the page

I hope you will visit the CD Sunday Plus Challenge site, and remember if you want to enter the challenge you must use something from a CD, USB or digital material no matter how small and let us know where and what you used the material from,   and that it is a card or a project.    Here is a link to CD Sunday Plus Challenge blog  we would be pleased to see you.

Late spring flowers

 Hi,

Today is a beautiful day yes dry day there’s not been many of them this year,  the sun is shinning aand it’s warm,

I planted these crocuses in February in a tub,  the earth was frozen and we had to dig it just to put these bulbs in,  I was going to put them in the garden in the autumn,  but what with the concussion,  then a severe bout of flu Christmas and new year,  they never saw the garden,  We never thought they would grow in the cold earth,  but here they are flowering,  I took this picture yesterday in the sun shine,  the wind was cold but it’s better late than never with my flowers.

When they have finished flowering I am going to transfer them into the garden, and hopefully next year they will grow at the right time.  Vernon wants the tub for his runner beans in May .

Have a lovely weekend

Happy international tatting day

Hi,

Happy international tatting day to all tatters around the world.

Today is a bank holiday here in the U.K.,  the weather has been mixed,  I just would like it to warm up,  usually we tat in public today, but being a bank holiday that won’t be possible.  I do often tat in public either in the hospital waiting for Vernon,  or again waiting for him when he has his hair cut at the craft cafe, The Hive in Shepton Mallet.

I wanted to make something quick in tatting for the day,  and last Saturday this pattern popped into my email box,  it’s called Stained Glass mini Cross by Lilliantatlace,   It’s one and three quarter’s inches long on and half inches wide,  I added a tail making it into a mini book mark.  I used Lizbeth thread no 20 Countryside.

I think there will be some more of these little cross idea for a small bible.

Enjoy your day hope you get a lot of tatting done.

Happy tatting

Margaret

 Hi,

Firstly I want to wish all my followers  and bloggers a very Happy Easter,  I hope you are having a lovely Easter and enjoying the chocolate Easter eggs.

It’s time for another challenge at CD Sunday challenge,  as usual it’s anything goes,  and of course it must be from a CD,  USB or digital material this fortnight the host is Jocelyn

For my card this fortnight is a baby card,  I can show you this card as our niece does not look at my blog,  crossing fingers,  we are about to be great aunt and uncle again in May,  and we know it’s a boy,

I used a download from Tattered lace magazine no 65,  I die cut the elephant out twice and matted it onto silver brushed Miri card from Hunkydory,   The backing paper also came with the image,  and  adding silver peel offs using the baby’s feet and crib plus words,  and made a blue ribbon bow.

2024 TTAL temperature tat along part five

 Hi,

Today is the first day of spring, metrology speaking,   It’s quite a mild day  here with a bit of sunshine,  I just wish it would get a bit warmer.

Here is the temperature tat along part five,  you can see its growing, each square is approx an inch square,  we are still in the greens and yellows,  the orange was the 14th February our hottest day so far,  they say it’s going to get a bit colder and more rain,  please have we not had enough rain,  if there was a colour for rain this would show rain rain and yet more rain.  We went out today and there are still fields that are still flooded in parts,  it’s going to take a lot to dry out this county.

I am about nine days behind and catching up,  hopefully,   I am using Lizbeth thread no 20.

Hope you are having a lovely day

CD Sunday challenge - Anything goes #129

Hi,

As i write this and this is a scheduled post,  it’s pouring with rain again,  blowing a gale,  it’s been a very wet winter and going into spring,   roll on summer,  I have had enough of winter can we just jump into summer now.

Today is St Patricks day so Happy St  Patrick’s day to all my followers. I hope you have a lovely day,  I did a post yesterday for St Patricks day,  I know it was a day early but I don’t like two different posts in one day.

It’s time for another challenge at CD Sunday,  and this fortnight the host is me.

For  this  challenge I made a card from a CD I don’t remember using before,  just shows how many I have  anyway the image and the backing paper are from Carnival of Colour by Ooh La La Creations,  I matted the image onto gold brushed Miri card from Hunkydory,  cut out the daisies from another sheet and decoupaged them onto the daisies in the picture,  as Meg would say fussy cut and it really was a fussy cutting time, and added  a blue bow.

CD Sunday Plus challenge has a Facebook page for those who would like to enter the challenge and do not have a blog,   here is a link to the page

Happy St Patricks Day

 Hi,

Yes I am a day early and St Patricks day is tomorrow but I have another post going onto my blog tomorrow so as I hate two different posts on one day,  I am putting this one a day early.

Happy St Patricks Day to all my Irish followers

I made this tatted clover leaf,  it’s my own pattern I threw together,   I am calling it an Onion Ring clover leaf,  it’s in development as you could say,  needs a few finishing touches perhaps a few more stitches to make it bigger,   but for today it will do.   It’s onion ring leaves and a spiral chain for the stalk.  I  used Lizbeth no 20 thread in Christmas green mix,  I am running out of dark green,  so I used this varigated thread instead.  I will write my pattern out at some point

Have a lovely weekend,  I am away this weekend

Margaret .

CD Sunday Challenge Anything goes - # 128

 Hi,

Gosh we are now into the third month of the year,  I hope the year will slow up a bit,  this fortnight our new challenge is hosted by Jo.

For my card this fortnight I have used an image from Squeeze cards Furry friends C.D by Digi crafts,  I did not use the squeeze bit but decoupaged the image on a normal card,  I matted the image onto gold bushed miri  card by Hunkydory.  The backing paper is from stash and I added a hand made bow and peel off edging

2024 TTAL - temperature tat along part three

 Hi,

On this very very wet day,  I realised that I had not shown you the temperature tat along  which is on Facebook at the moment,  well it will be for the whole year,   our temperatures have been on the mild side for a few weeks now,  and my first all one colour square has arrived which was the 13th February,

I have managed to catch up a little bit over the last week,  when I had to rest after having a procedure 8n hospital,  it’s beginning to get less sore now. Hopefully it will settle down and I will have less pain in my hip.

I will post again next week,  I don’t want to keep boring you by keep showing it too often.

Stay dry and warm,  at the moment we have a lot of flooding near us in Frome and surrounding areas, if any one wants some rain,  we would be pleased to off load it for some sunshine.

Have a good week

Margaret

Valentine ice drop heart

 Hi,

Happy Valentine’s Day,   I have not made any hearts this year as yet,  but I wanted to show you one I made a few years ago  I adapted the pattern into an ice drop,

This pattern is also called Valentine Heart by Etha Schuette and I have made it into an ice drop heart,  I used some old coats thread which I have had for a very long time, no idea when I brought it but its a variegated red,  the red glass nugget was too dark so I put a clear one in.   A link to the pattern I have is.  The link still works  to the pattern

Hope you have a nice day

2024 - TTAL Temperature Tat a- long

 Hi,

Here is the next instalment of the tat along on Facebook,  last week I showed you six squares of the very cold  weather we had here in Somerset,  well it has grown a little with milder temperatures,

This is January finished,      I am going around in a clock wise and the marker is to show me where I started around the block of six,  I have changed the way I sew in the ends,  I had a problem with the lighter colours popping though the darker colours.  Hoping when I have a good  day to sew a little darker colour over the lighter colours,  it’s not for  sale and it’s mine so it shows it’s ok. I can live with it,

I will post again next week when I have done a bit more,  I am wondering  how February will either stay the same with milder temperatures or bring in some different colours if it gets colder.

I am in hospital today  for  a few hours, and then rest for a couple of days, so hopefully I can get more done and catch up a bit.

2024 TTAL - Temperature Tat-a-Long

 Hi,

On Facebook in the beginning of  they started a 2024 tat-a-Long,  I joined in the third week of January,  it was a very cold week with frost  at night, for  every ten degrees the colour changes so the squares change with it, this is my first six days,  I am making it as a mat,  many are doing strips or other shapes,   at the end of the year we should have 366 squares,  well those who started at the beginning will,  mine will be short but I really don’t mind,

I should have posted this last week as mine has more squares now and some different colour squares, as the temperatures have changed from day to day,  I am not going to post every day hopefully once a week,  I am almost to the end of January will just two more squares to tat before  starting on  February,   Each day I make a note of the daily temperature, at the moment our temperatures have been above average,  next week they look as it the are going to drop,  so the colours will change accordingly

I am using Lizbeth thread no 20 in a range of colours.

Tatted Handkerchief and Earrings

 Hi,

It’s a beautiful morning here in Somerset,  I know I have not been blogging much for a few weeks,  but the CD Sunday challenge does not start until next month, (4th February).

This is my go to project that I take with me,  I have tatted this in the hospital waiting for Vernon when he has appointments or in The Hive when I wait for him to have this hair cut,  could even have been lots of places,  but they were always seem to be in public,   Yes I do sometimes get asked is it crochet,  no tatting, so their people learn about tatting etc.,  see I spend the word tatting around.

I used the Turkish thread, Altin Basek thread no 50 which is equal to Lizbeth no 20,  pattern  is called Fleurette edging which has been re-written by Joelle link to her Blog

These earrings I made for a dear friend before Christmas,  they are in the same thread,  and I used my own pattern Butterfly heart,

Hope you have a lovely weekend

Snowflake Christmas cards

 Hi

I know this a very late post,  I know they have all arrived,  I am just starting to catch up with everything,  the flu has not quite gone,  at least I am still here, it was a very nasty bug that knocked me off my feet.

These Christmas card were sent to my friends who are all crafters,  I hope they liked there cards,  the picture above is two cards that did not have a tatted snowflake,  I used a die cut of a snowflake as the cards were to small.  The rest all had tatted snowflakes or an Angel attached  and to keep  for next year and for years to come.

The backing  papers were all from stash,  I can’t remember where I brought them,  I cut out a shape out of the card,  placed the snowflake so it hangs in the centre on a thread attached and then placed a piece of backing paper on the back,   I made a bow and placed it at the top of the card.

I am sorry these photos have come out a bit dark,  some of the days we had before Christmas were very dark all day,  now after all the rain we have had,  it’s very very cold frosty and still with cloud,  longing for some warm dry days with some sun,

I hope you had a lovely new year,  I have several posts to catch up on before we resume at the CD Sunday challenges
