Happy Christmas Vernon

 Hi,

This is my last Christmas card of 2023,  it’s been a struggle this Christmas with both of us with flu,

I made this card for Vernon it’s a craftsuprint  free image card,  which I decoupaged the gnome,   strays of holly added in some ribbon and on the end of the hat added a small lump of cotton wool for the white bubble.

I wish all my family and friends a very happy Christmas and a happy new year

Tatted Hearts and Angels.

 Hi,

It’s a windy and again dark day here in Somerset,  we expect yet more rain again later,  the weather over the last week has been so dark we need the light on just do anything,  rain it just keeps on raining,  the Somerset levels are flooded yet again,  I live in the Mendip  hills and the water drains into the levels,  with many roads flooded and land slips in the south west.  Roll on summer.

Today I am bring you some tatting that I have done over the last couple of months  and not posted,  first the picture above is the Peacock Hearts,  which I left some thread on so they could be hung, ii did save sewing in the ends,  this heart pattern is from Birgit’s  tatting it’s an old blog but here is a link to her Blog

I made them with Lizbeth thread no 20

I really enjoyed making these angels,  the pattern is from My Magic Tatting,  and they called Merry Christmas Angels,  I used white Lizbeth thread no 20.  There are a few people that will be receiving one of these in their Christmas card this year.

CD Sunday Challenge - anything goes #125

 Hi

This is the last challenge for this year at the CD Sunday challenge blog,  this fortnight Carol is the host,

We are also proud to announce that we have two new members joining us next year,  Meg from Bits and pieces is returning and  Aimeslee from Paper Paisleys,  our first challenge will be on the 4th February 2024,   We are having a longer break than normal,  due to Jo and I both having been ill, over the last couple of months.

For my last card this year,  I used for the backing paper and images Magical Christmas Moments by Cupcake Crafting the images I matted onto blue Miri card.  I placed a selection of foliage dies cuts,  the dies used are Winter wonderland seasonal sprigs from Crafters  Companion , ivy leaves from Joanna Sheen,  leaves from Debbi Moore with blue ribbon placed in between the leaves and a blue bow in front.  I used some silver stickers on the leaves,  finished off with peel offs words.

Endrucks projects October and November

 Hi,

I am a bit a late posting on the Endrucks project work I have done over the last two months.  Firstly as some of you know I hit my head,  I’m getting over concussion hopefully it’s going but I am still suffering with giddy spells,  which it not good,  I stopped driving for a few weeks as the pain from the hit was really painful made worse when our roads are so tough with potholes,  although Vernon tries hard not to hit the really deep ones.   I still feel where I hit occasionally,  but I feel I am on the mend.  I never thought concussion could last so long.

Secondary I had trouble with  blogger,  I had a scammer that got into my laptop pretending to get my money back,  no he was trying to get my money,   it was a few days after I hit my head and I was not thinking straight,  lesson learned think twice and twice again,  I think he messed about with blogger because he could not find any mobile banking,  I don’t do mobile banking I don’t trust it.  The bank and PayPal were brilliant,  they spotted the scam,  and he got nothing,   perhaps because I had been in the bank that morning so they knew I was not away.

Anyway if you did not get a comment on your blog now you know why,  hopefully it’s back to normal and all sorted.

Now for the reason I am posting today,  the picture above is the October game for the Endrucks project,  using the Iris pendant by Ninetta Caruso,  it’s a diamond motif used as a pendant,  we had to make two,  well you know me I made a set so there was three,  the pendant is as the pattern  but I added three strings,  two to the sides and one in the middle,   Taking a long piece of thread off the shuttle,  threading three beads onto the thread making sure they are in the middle then tatting a long string,  making sure the side pieces were the same length,  and the same with the middle string with matching beads and tatting a long length.   The earrings match the pendant this time I placed the beads at the bottom ring and made a ring at the top to hold the fastenings.  I used peacock blue Lizbeth thread no 20.

This is the November game which Muskaan did from an adaptation of the pattern called Antiks snowflake, I was very slow on this snowflake but I did finish in time,  this pattern was a little advanced with split chains,   Something I am a little rusty on,  but I got there in the end.  I used Lizbeth thread in white no 20.

I hope you have lovely weekend,  it’s very cold here,  frosty and we may get snow later,

Happy birthday Vernon

Hi,

Today is my husband birthday,  I made this card for his birthday,  he complained last time it was a bit feminine so I hope this card will be more masculine.  I used  the Joanna Sheens CD the Pamela West collection,   Using the image with its matching backing paper,  matting each  image on blue card and then arranging them so,  I added peel off words and lines.

Have a lovely birthday

CD Sunday challenge - anything goes #123

 Hi,

November and the year is nearly finished,  as usual it’s time for another challenge at the CD Sunday and as usual it’s anything goes,  this fortnight it’s me who is hosting the challenge

For my card this fortnight I used an image and backing paper from the CD A winter walk in the countryside, by creative crafting.  I matted the image onto red card,  decoupling the middle circle,  and then cut the corner parts in red card and making the corner parts smaller before placing the, together on the card.  I simply made a red bow and add peel offs for merry Christmas .

 Hi,

Gosh we are nearly at the end of the year,  only three more challenges to go,  as usual it’s anything goes and the host this week is Jo,  please welcome Jo back as she has been ill,  apologies I have not been able to comment much on the blogs,  I had an accident and bashed my head,  I am suffering from concussion,  I have not been allowed much time on the computer,  although I am still suffering pain, the headache has disappeared,  but I have been told it will take weeks before I am back to normal.

For my card this fortnight which I made some weeks ago and scheduled this post some weeks ago,  I used one of my favourite images from Enchanted Dreams CD by Joanna Sheen,   I matted the image onto gold bush Miri card by Hunkydory,  placed a  pattern gold slip across the middle,  and used the backing paper that went with the image,  I used some small gem butterflies from stash,  and a ribbon bow in pink and blue tones.

This is Paisley snowflake by Muskaan,   I love this snowflake and the way it flows.

All the snowflakes were tatted in Lizbeth thread no 20 in white.

For this fortnight my card is the christening card I made for Maisy and I used Treasured Teddies by My Craft Studio,  i matted the image onto silver brushed Miri card by Hunkydory,  and used a pink backing sheet off the same CD,  I added a pink bow and silver peel offs

Paint Brush bookmark

Hi,

I am sure if we get much more rain and wind,  and this is the second hurricane or should I say ex hurricane to fly across the pond on the jet stream,  this island will either sink,  float or  bash into Europe,  or float across the pond,  either way it’s been another very wet month.

I found this post started but not finished from January,  I suppose you could say better late than never,  it’s one of my favourite bookmark patterns  Flowering Quatrain bookmark by Joelle,  link to her Blog

I used Lizbeth thread no 20 Paint brush,  unfortunately some threads just don’t do justice to a  pattern and this is one of them,

Stay dry and walk between the rain drops

Endrucks Project for July - bookmark

Hi,

After leaving this project for a couple of months, and working on the christening present.    I finally finished it,  this was the July game for the Endrucks project,  unfortunately I really am not happy with it,  it’s from the Endrucks pattern #24,  and I used the flower part of the pattern with the sides,  it took a little working out as I left out the leaf,  and working the flower in both directions.

I used Lizbeth thread Cranberry Bush no 20.

Another wet and windy day here in Somerset,  and there’s more rain forecasted for the rest of the week,  one day this island will either sink or float,  perhaps bashing into Europe or swimming across the pond .

Christening present

 Hi,

I made this picture for our great niece,  who was christened last weekend,  the tatting pieces were all sewn onto the frantic,  this took hours of tatting and more hours to sew them onto the fabric.

The teddy bear and the dog came from the pattern book, Tatted animals by Inca Madsen,

The words I used a cross between tat letters by Teri Dusenbury  and then I did split rings, it took a long time to design the letters,  Teri’s patterns did help but I put my own spill on them.

The crown I used the pattern A jubilee crown by Jennifer Williams,  Maisy was born this year being a coronation year,  so I added the crown to symbol that it is a coronation year.

Maisy and I have several things in common,  Maisy is an old Scottish name for MargaretWe were both born in a coronation year,  1953 and 2023,  and born were christened in the September of the actual years.

CD Sunday Challenge, anything goes #118

Hi,

Time this year is flying back,  today we are at a christening in Oxford,  so this post is scheduled,   I am the host this fortnight, although I am also away for a few days during the fortnight,  as usual its anything goes,

For this card I used Magical Christmas moments  CD by cupcake crafting,  I seen to use this CD quite often but I dont think I have used this image of the robin. I matted the image onto glitter cream card and then onto red card,  I cut out a red die cut flower and leaves.  this die I brought from Amazon and although rarely used makes a lovely open flower petals,   I added some gems and a handmade red bow.

21st Wedding Anniversary

Hi,

Today is our 21st Wedding anniversary,  gosh 21 years does not seem like it,   the weather that august was very similar to the weather we are having at the moment,  we had the only fine day with the sun shinning,  and tgat was our wedding day,   the rest of the mouth was wet.

The card I made for my husband I used a House Mouse image from a House Mouse CD by Joanna Sheen.  The colour for 21 year was iris and this was the nearest piece of card I had,  I tried to make it more manly I don't think I managed it after the complaint I had last time it was too female.  Anyway I hope he likes it.

We are going to have a day our together,  just hope the day is fine even if the sun does not shine.

CD Sunday Challenge - Anything goes #116

Hi,

Time for another challenge from CD Sunday,  the host this fortnight is Pamela,  as usual it is anything goes,

For my card this fortnight,  I used an image and backing paper from Jayne Netley Mayhew collection CD by Joanna Sheen,  I made this card different,  as I put a piece of acetate and let fixed the image to the back so it hang down,  I used various snowflake dies and a die by Apple Blossom Penguin that came free from a magazine.  Finished off the card with a merry Christmas peel off.

Crochet flowers

 Hi,

Another wet day here in Somerset, July was the wettest and the way it’s going August will be the same,  it’s good for my runner beans and tomatoes but they also need some sun,  and it’s been lacking,  yes it’s shinning somewhere in the world but it’s yet to make appearance today.

I have been making some crochet roses,  actually they are easy,  I am hoping to put them on wires so they can stand in a vase,  where are my wires in the shed,  and it’s pouring with rain,,  when it’s dry I forget to take some out and when it’s wet, I think to myself I could do that.

I made them in cotton,  now to learn to make some leaves and hopefully move onto sunflowers,  crochet is a learning curve for me,  something I mastered in lockdown,  perhaps I will get onto toys but at the moment I am enjoying making flowers.

Here is a link to the pattern I used l https://youtu.be/ptWYK10MeQU

Hopefully the sun will come out to play before the end of august.

Have a good day

My card is for a friend who will be 80 next month,  they don’t look at my blog so I can post this early,  I used a download off Debbi Moore’s web site to make this card,  everything came from the download apart from the silver numbers and I matted the image onto silver bushed Miri card by Hunkydory.

Centaurus Earrings

 Hi,

These earrings were designed by Lillian Tat lace,  they are three circles which are joined by placing a circle in a circle,  which I did three times,  they are unusual and look very different,  I used up the left over thread from my Cal Celtic snowflakes.

Colours used was ice blue and medium blue Lizbeth thread no 20.  I will be doing some more in different colours.

Hope you are enjoying the heat,  we had some heavy rain today as it’s the start of Glastonbury this week,  I am sure those arriving and setting up their tents,  it’s over 1,000 acres this year and there will be 200,000, festival goers. The site is bigger than the city of Bath,  with Elton John headlining on Sunday night.  I will be watching him on tv as I could not cope with that many people and noise.

I have done something different,  even if it did not work our quite as I thought,  this is a new shape card called a fence card,  the backing paper came from Click print and go CD by My craft studio,  I used an image that was a free gift from Hunkydory members club sometime ago of a ladybird,  The ivy die is from Joanna Sheen.    I finished off the card with some rub ons by La Blanche,  I put a small spray of roses in the bottom corner which I matched with the flower in the image,  and a small white handmade bow

CAL Celtic snowflake by Muskaan

 Hi,

At moment we are experiencing some beautiful weather, although thunderstorms are forecasted for weekend,  I just hope this not all the summer we will get and once it starts raining it will stop so the sun can put it’s hat on.

In May Muskaan designed the first two rounds of a snowflake,  it was left to us the tatters around the world to design the rest.

Well these are my efforts,  so far on Facebook just tatting the first one has received 229 likes and hearts.

This was the first one,  I used white and medium blue Lizbeth thread

This was my second with white and ice blue again Lizbeth thread no 20, I made the ring at the top a little bigger which I do prefer

This is my third one I used the medium blue and ice blue Lizbeth thread

I am very pleased with these snowflakes and I am making these my June snowflakes in the Facebook challenge

Have a lovely weekend

April Snowflakes

 Hi,

I am a bit late with the April snowflakes,  this is a challenge on Facebook for doing a monthly snowflake, I was  doing the cross stitch panel which I showed last week meant I could not do both at the same time,

These two snowflakes are a pattern by Diane,  from 2013 called Snowflake no 3,  The plain white one is the original pattern with longer chains,   and the beaded one I added beads in the chain instead of the JK rings and beads at the top of the central ring.  I do love this snowflake, although my chains look a little out os shape,  but snowflakes are not always prefect.

I used Lizbeth thread No 20 in white. and blue seed beads.

Margaret

Ps sorry I forgot to put the picture on,  which I have now done so.

Hi,

it’s time for another challenge at CD Sunday as usual it’s anything goes, and our host this fortnight is Carol.

This is card for the new grandmother which is my sister in law which goes with the baby card I did for the last challenge.  I used Cuddly companions dimensional CD by Debbi Moore.  I used the image and matching backing paper,  I layered the image several times,  added the ribbon strip that went with the image and added a white bow and gold peel off wording.

King Charles 111, coat of Arms

 Hi,

This is King Charles 111, coat of arms, which I did in cross stitch,  from the magazine Cross Stitcher May issue,   I used 12 colours in all,  plus the gold and silver thread,

I finished it watching the actual coronation yesterday,  history repeated itself as it was a wet day for our late Queens coronation 70 years ago.  He is the oldest reining monarch ever to be crowned,  at the age of 75 year old,  I doubt he will have a long rein.  We will not see another Queen for a very long time,  as William is next in line to the throne.

This weekend is a bank holiday,  but the weather so far has been anything but good,  and the forecast is not good for the rest of the weekend.

Have a lovely weekend,

Margaret

Blogger

 Hi,

Have you checked your spam folder on your blog recently,  nearly every day for the past fortnight I have at least six or seven, even more spam comments,  I have checked them out,  usually they are two words like “very pretty”,  or even “merry Christmas”,    But they are old comments I mean old dating back to 2014 or even earlier,  they were published under the dates quoted,  they are all regular contributors to my blog. But suddenly they are popping back up as marked spam,

I don’t know if it’s just my blog,  or what’s going on,  but blogger is slowing driving me potty

CD Sunday challenge # 109 - Anything goes

Hi,

Here we are at the end of April and the coronation of King Charles the third will be at the beginning of May,  but before that we have another challenge at CD Sunday,  this fortnight our host will be Jocelyn.

For my card this fortnight,  we had a new baby born into the family and I made this card for her,  I used a download from tatted lace magazine no 65,  I cut a circle out of the card and used the backing sheet that went with the elephant.  I cut two elephants one placed on the card and then the other I decoupaged.  I added a die of baby girl die this came from the advert calendar I brought a few years ago from tatted lace, I thought they were very small for the amount of money charged for the advent calendar.  I made a white ribbon bow and attached to the card
