Hi,
I started Tatting lessons in the local wool shop a few weeks ago, one of the ladies last week was very pleased that she had brought this commemorative shuttle. When I saw it I just had to have one too, and it arrived this morning. It is the 1914 centennial of the Great Ward 2014, Last year was in some ways a year of memories my father was born on the first day of the 1st War world 4.8.14 and to me this shuttle is in memory of him. I doubt if I will ever use it as far as I am concerned it is a piece of history and a memory.
They are on sale at www.Roseground.com if you are interested.
We should never forget.
Hugs
Margaret
Enjoy your lovely new shuttle, Margaret!

ReplyDeleteHey I just clicked on the sight did not see the hand painted shuttles maybe the sold them out could you check? or did you mean you could paint on them yourself?
ReplyDeleteThey still have some and they are under collectors shuttles, go to tatting and then shuttles and you will find a section called collectors shuttles.
DeleteThey are plastic but they are painted with the poppy and the words on the back.

Lovely shuttle, Margaret! Thank you for the link. I think I'll check it out. My grandfather served in France, and because of his experiences he always looked for the good in people and did his best to be kind to everyone.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your shuttle, Margaret
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely shovel and a wonderful memento of your father.
