1st May - Lilly of the Valley

Hi,

Today the 1st of May and my Lilly of the valley is in flower,   here is some I picked straight from the garden when I got back from Sheffield on Saturday.  The news from Sheffield was not good and its another set of injections in my eye over the next few months.
Over the last few years I have not had any Lilly of the Valley until later in the month but this year its on time and out in flower.
Its a bank holiday in the UK today,  so have a lovely day, hopefully the sun might shine.

East Somerset Railway,

Hi,
Last Sunday we went to have a meal on the East Somerset Railway, at Cranmore in Somerset,    It was a lovely day and here is just a few pictures of the day.
Above the beginning of the railway at the end of the platform,  it does not go very far so here's the start.
Here is another picture of the platform with my husband standing looking at the telephone box.  Below is another picture of something rare but years ago it was a must to keep in touch, today its all about mobile phones, sadly these have gone.On the other side of the box was a place to buy postage stamps only I missed taking a photo of it.

This is a picture of a poster of the brief history of the railway.
Years ago this line ran to Shepton Mallet and onto to Wells,
Ruth who was with us remembers catching the train to Shepton and going to school,  it brought back a lot of memories for her.

This is the Victorian Gents toilets,  I did not go inside,  the building is made of cast iron

Here comes the train,   the line is only about 2 miles long,
Each course of the meal was served as we traveled up and down the line.
It was  definitely the age of steam day, with all the smells of steam to go with it.

Below is the signal box

This picture did not come out very well, as there is a lot of reflection but it was our tables set ready for our meal

Here we go,  this is the view of the train as we go up the line,  there was not a lot to take a picture of just fields and then into a cutting.  so this was the best that came out

This is Dee Vernon's sister and our friends Ruth and Mervyn

And just in case you want to see us,  This is my husband Vernon and Me,

Here we are at the other end of the line at the Mendip Vale Station,  as I say we went up and down while eating our meal,

Here is the our train guard,  the guard took him for a walk every time we reached the end of the line and then at the beginning,  Hes only two,  friendly and likes to be made a fuss of.

We had a great day,  its well worth a visit but if you want a meal they have to be booked up in advance.

Its finished - Renuleks Snow Frywolitkowa Napkin 2012/13

Hi,
At last hooray its finished,   Yes this is Renuleks Snow frywolitkowa napkin 2012,   This was my UFO I found it in my tatting bag and thought perhaps I might just get to finish it,  every so often I picked it up and did a bit but then got fed up and left it,   well here it is finished,   I used  Lizbeth Sea Island Citrus thread no 20,  Although in parts I am not happy with it its been rolled and screwed up for so long its taken a lot of pressing,   It measures 20 inches across.  Now its onto my next project, shuttles are loaded and ready to go.

Butterfly Birthday Card

Hi,

This is the second birthday card which I did for Pauline whose birthday was last week,  Pauline was part of the design team on the CD Sunday Challenge, but has just left due to health problems.
I used Joanna Sheens Enchanted Dreams CD for the image and backing paper.
I added two die cut butterflies and finished off with blue ribbon down the side.  I matted the image on silver glitter card and added a silver peel off happy birthday.

Tatted Minion Birthday Card

Hi,
Last week we had two birthdays with the CD Sunday design team,  This is Carols card,  she is very fond of minions so when I saw this pattern for a minion I knew who would like it.
I used the pattern by Sarah Wood,  I  don't have a link for her pattern but I did get it from Craftree.com.
I used coats no 20 thread, the blue is a bit pale but it looks OK,  and black lizbeth thread no 20 for the feet, hands, and hair.
The card I glued the minion on white glitter card added two felt rose flowers, and finished off with white ribbon and silver peel offs.
I am so glad Carol liked it,

CD Sunday Challenge - Sketch

Hi,
This fortnight its Carols turn to chose the theme and she has chosen a Sketch to use as well as anything from a CD.
My card this fortnight is from the CD Gnomes and Faries by La Pashe,  I love this CD,   I used the backing paper and image to match,  I printed out two and decoupaged her in the bath,  matted the image on some dark pink card,  used the same card for the happy birthday circle and the spiral rose die,  The ribbon is a shaded pink and pink gems in the two corners.
I hope you will visit the CD Sunday Challenge site, and remember if you want to enter the challenge you must use something from a CD no matter how small and let us know which CD you used.  Here is a link to CD Sunday Challenge blog  we would be pleased to see you.
I hope you are having a lovely weekend

Hugs

Happy Easter

Hi,
Happy Easter,  the sun is shining but its quite cold here, it was such a beautiful weekend, last week and very warm for the time of year and now we have gone backwards  into the cold.  Hopefully summer is not too far away.
Today I have two tatted ice drops for you both are the same pattern called Spring Garden by Diane,  the top one is tatted in variegated yellow with a gold glass gem and the other is a blue thread with blue beads instead of the picots and a blue glass gem in the middle,  both threads are old I found them in the bottom of the draw and thought it was time I used them up,   they are both coats no 20.
I hope you have a lovely weekend.

CD Sunday Challenge - Spring colours

Hi,
Another fortnight gone by and here is another challenge from the CDSunday Challenge team,  this fortnight please help us celebrate our 7th Birthday which is on the 18th between the two challenges. So we are using this fortnights challenge of  Spring Colours chosen by Pauline to celebrate.
These birthday celebrations could becopme a permanent thing because when we had one last year and you supported us so well that we deiceded to add a speical gift to our winner for this 7th birthday and hope you will all support us again.
So please make something with Spring colours and the winner of the top 3 will become the proud owner of the following additional prize - donated by a team member.
Secret Slider

Please remember to use something from a CD - and tell us which one.  it would be an awful chame to do wonderful work and then not qualify for such a prize.

For this card I used A walk in the countryside CD for the backing and image,  I printed out two images and decoupaged the image making it looked puffed out.   Matted the image on yellow card and placed a yellow die cut butterfly in the corner,   the flower spray has an ivy die spray and two parchment flowers with leaves.
Finished off with a birthday peel off.
