Blog up and running again

Hi,

Yesterday my blog went redirecting everyone to a widget site,  I found the answer the widgetserver company is up for sale and widgets on the blogs are redirecting the blogs to the widget sale site.  I found the widget concerned and deleted it,  it was in the translator.  The blog is working ok now, hopefully nothing else will happen.
Thank you for all those who contacted me and told me about the problem.
Have a great bank holiday Monday,
Hugs

Mr Postman came............

Hi,

Well its raining and blowing a gale here in Somerset today,  apart from it being a bank holiday which is what usually happens on bank holidays it rains,  OK the gardens need it,  but do we,  I'm hoping the summer will come back even if its not as warm.

While we were in Brussels Wendy's gift arrived that I  won off her blog a few weeks ago,   my apologies for not blogging this earlier,  I hope she will forgive me.   I was not too good when I got back from Brussels,  I had certainly over done it.

The bracelet is beautiful and with the dragonfly,  I shall enjoy wearing it and it will go well with my wardrobe too.  Thank you Wendy for a beautiful bracelet,

Hope you are having a lovely weekend

Brussels

Hi,

Here are some pictures of Brussels which we took on our trip to see the tatting (see previous post)   the weather was about the same as the UK with showers and sun over the four days we were there.

Brussels is the capital of Belgium but it is also the capital of Europe,  with the European Parliament and other offices for the EU,  I might add we did not get time to go and visit the European Parliament.

These pictures are of the Grand Place Market Square which is the center of Brussels

They have at this time of year in August a flower carpet which is laid in the Grand Place Market Square these next few picture are of the carpet starting to be laid,  the green is actual grass turf which they cut around the marked out areas where the flowers will be laid.

Another picture of the Square

Below a picture of the horse waiting for passengers, you can have a horse ride around the center.

This is the flower carpet,  its made of flower heads,  there are several pictures which I took at several different areas of the square.

The flower heads used were Begonias

This is the famous naughty boy of Brussels,  his stature is very famous and is in one corner down a side street off the Grand Place Square.

Of course Belgium is famous for its chocolate and here outside one of the many chocolate shops in Brussels we saw him in chocolate,  its not actual chocolate but in a chocolate coloured statue

Well Belgium are known for their Waffles and who would go to Belgium without having a waffle,   we had a lovely quite sit in a cafe in the Grand Place Market,   where I had a freshly made waffle and fresh cream,  yummy,   there are lots of street vendors who make the waffles and chips another food Belgium enjoys with Mayo.
In fact over the four days we visited the cafe again and yes I had another waffle,  yummy but not if you need to lose weight.

I had to go to the ladies while I was there and of course it had to be upstairs,  as I walked up the stairs this little mouse was sitting on a stair,  well I just had to take a picture of the cute mouse.

I hope you enjoyed the post of my trip to Brussels,  I have one more on Brussels to come
in the meantime I hope you are keeping well

Tat a Brussels Monument

Hi,
We had a great trip to Brussels,   we meet Cathy who organised and did all the hard work,   To be honest the photos don't do it justice,    the hours of work that went into this project and putting together all the squares.  there was 5,219 squares, from tatters in 49 countries,  we should be proud of ourselves.  There was 400 wishes sent with the squares for women's rights.

Vernon and I managed to find three of my squares out of over 5,000 I think that was quite good going,

I am going to leave you with the pictures to enjoy.

This was a giant shuttle made out of tubbier steel and welded together by a woman.    there is a video on Cathy Facebook page here is a link to her page showing how it was made.
We had a tour one evening of Brussels and we all meet in the Halles of Saint Gery,  I was the only tatter so I explained about tatting and how far it goes back too.  I wish I had taken a shuttle with me to show them how it was made.   Tatting it not widely known in Belgium hopefully now it will be known a little more.  Part of the display went onto the World Lace Congress in Bruges.  She would like to display this work around Europe and the UK if she cane find somewhere to display it.

Back to Basics Challenge - An Aperture card

Hi,
This fortnight at Back to Basics and Beyond challenge blog our challenge is an Aperture card.
For my card I use a basic cream card, and the free die from Die Cutting Essentials magazine  called Scenic Swallow,   I used the outer shape to cut the aperture out of the card,  cut the die from a green card,  and matted it onto a rainbow card placing it inside the cut aperture,   I added a die cut butterfly and a bow with a peel off happy birthday.   I really simple card for a change.

We would be delighted to see you are there is a the Back to Basics and n       beyond challenge blog and here is a link to the blog

CD Sunday Challenge - Lets go fishing

Hi,
Today is a sad day for me,  it would have been my Mothers birthday,  so I hope she would have liked the card I made for a male birthday.
Yes is time for another challenge at the CD Sunday Challenge, and today is my choice and I choose Lets go fishing.
For this card I used an image from Gnomes and Fairies by La Pashe,  I really like this Cd and there is some really great images of the gnomes and fairies.  I matted the image onto silver card and then onto a green card, to bring the colour out of the image.   The backing paper is from stash.
I added a green ribbon and hung a silver fish charm from it.  I finished off the card with green peel offs and silver happy birthday and silver fish and dragonfly.

CD Sunday challenge now has a Facebook page for those who would like to enter the challenge and do not have a blog,   here is a link to the page

I hope you will visit the CD Sunday Challenge site, and remember if you want to enter the challenge you must use something from a CD no matter how small and let us know which CD you used.  Here is a link to CD Sunday Challenge blog  we would be pleased to see you.
I hope you are having a lovely weekend

Update Tat a Brussels Monument

Hi,
These are some of the latest pictures from Brussels, there are a lot more on Facebook,  but this is just some,  Tomorrow I am off to Brussels so I will take some photos and post them when I come back,   Vernon has never been to Belgium so this will be another new country for him,   I went to Brussels when I was a child so it will have changed a lot.
Below is the monument that they covered,  in the Halles de Saint Gery

We made the press in Belgium.

Dragonfly

Hi,

During this heatwave,  we have had two dragonflies in the house,   this is a picture of the second one,  I might add this is the smaller one,  hes green and only just fits into the bug catcher that is about 2 inches square,   He was not harmed in any way Vernon managed to catch him and release him back into the garden.
The first one was about 4 to 5 inches long,  a beautiful blue colour,  I wish I had taken a picture of him because he really was  beautiful. Vernon did catch him just in the bug catcher with a large part of him on the outside,  he was released back into the garden without harm
Normally are dragonflies are about the size of a butterfly this year they seem to have gone mad in the heatwave and seem to have grown huge.
They say its going to get cooler with rain,  my garden really could do with some rain now,  but I don't want the summer to be over,  just enough rain to water the garden would be fine,  and less humility would be welcome.  If it did cool down I could get back to my knitting,  the evenings seem to be hotter and the nights are impossible to sleep in.
Hugs
Margaret

My digi I got off Pinterest in there free digi section,  I coloured the image with Promakers,  and then cut the cut the rectangle out with a piece of green miri card larger than the image and matted the image onto the green card.   The backing paper is from Daisy and Dandelion Paper pad which I had free from a magazine sometime ago.  Finished off the card with a pale green ribbon and a computer generated sentiment. "You are the Sunshine"

CD Sunday Challenge - Celebrate in Style

Hi,

Time for another challenge at CD Sunday and this time its Wynn choice and she has chosen Celebrate in Style.
I thought of a wedding anniversary card and for this card I used My craft Studio Klever Konstruction on the shelf once in a lifetime vol. one CD. I printed out the backing paper and an image rather than making a 3d card,  there are some images that can just be printed out for normal use.
I backed the image on a gold card and added two die cut glasses,  a beige ribbon,  I was going to put gold but the beige looked better,  and finished off with gold peel off words,   A simple card for a change.
