Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens

Hi,

Recently we visited The Abbotsbury Subtropical gardens in Abbotsbury Dorset,  We have a lovely walk around,  of course it was social distancing and they had a one way system which meant some of the garden was roped off,

The gardens were established in 1765 as a kitchen garden for the nearby castle,  it is now a 30 acre magnificent garden  filled with rare and exotic plants from around the world.  some of the plants were first introductions into this country discovered by plant hunting descendants.

Some of the sculpture was from Alice in wonderland as you will see in some of the photos,

We found this sculpture in a corner of the garden of Peter rabbit,  I love Peter rabbit so I had to take this photo.

The gardens are beautiful with banana plants and ferns,  Japanese maples, and ornamental grasses,  unfortunately we took the shorter routs due to me not being able to walk far,  it was a lovely day sun shining and a really enjoyable walk,  pity that part of the gardens were roped off giving just a one way walk around.

This was as little area with a grass lawn and fountain at the far end,  with this lovely display.    Just one of the little areas the as you walked around you walked into.

Below is a picture of a goose we found nestled in the foliage

This plant I really like but it did not have a name and I would love to find out what it is,  and if possible buy one for my garden,  If you do know please let me know in the comments.

The gardens are open all year round and well worth a visit if you are on the South coast in Dorset
