International Tatting Day

 Hi,

Happy International Tatting day,  to all tatters around the world,  it’s been a sad year so far by losing two well known tatters,  but we have to think positive as there are always new tatters learning the craft.  For me this makes 52years tatting,  gosh that makes me feel old.

I started doing the butterfly ship pattern by Frivolite con Sabor,  sometime ago,  yes a ship with butterflies as the sails.  Well it’s one of those projects that has laid waiting to finish for a while now,  I still have the side butterflies to finish,   but I found these two practice butterflies,  as  I have nothing else to show for today, I thought I would use these for my tatting day,

The one above in yellow is no 2,  there are 8 different butteries make up the ship design,    This picture below is number one and these are the colours I chose to use for the ships sails,

I hope you have a wonderful day,  and enjoy tatting where ever you are.

Happy tatting

CD Sunday challenge - anything goes #106

Hi,

Time for another challenge at the CD  Sunday challenge blog,  as usually it is anything goes and the host this fortnight is Pamela.

For my card this fortnight I used The flower patch CD by Debbi Moore,   I used the backing paper and the image to match, I matted the card onto lilac card and then onto pink card.   I put a piece of wide silver ribbon down the side of the card,  added a die cut flourish and green die leaves,  with some pansy flowers, the came from stock so I am sorry I don’t remember where I brought them.   With some narrow silver ribbon in the spray of flowers and I made a bow at the top of the card,  I added a die cut butterfly and silver butterfly.   to the top of the card

CD Sunday Plus challenge has a Facebook page for those who would like to enter the challenge and do not have a blog,   here is a link to the page

I hope you will visit the CD Sunday Plus Challenge site, and remember if you want to enter the challenge you must use something from a CD, USB or digital material no matter how small and let us know where and what you used the material from,   and that it is a card or a project.    Here is a link to CD Sunday Plus Challenge blog  we would be pleased to see you.

Northern lights Hat

Hi,

In 2019 Vernon and I did a trip to Norway,  we has a fabulous time and meet several people who became friends,  on the ships shop they had a knitting kit for a hat,  called northern lights.

Well I brought the kit home and found that my English casting on did not work with the wool,  it would split or just disintegrate.  Last month we did the trip again,  I will write about our trip in another post.  The weather was not as kind and we were on a different ship, same company.

I digress I took the kit with me having found out that in Norway they cast their knitting differently,  I asked if there was a crew member that knitted,  anyway a few days in there was a lovely lady knitting, in Norway they use these ships as a ferry from one port to another,  some take their cars with them,  she was travelling to see her family,  and she like all Norwegians spoke English,  they are taught English as a second language in schools.  She was so kind not only did she show name she casted on all stitches.  Last week I finished the hat,  the wool is very fine, 2 ply,  soft but there was no label to say who made the wool.

If you want to know how differently the Norwegians cast on there knitting,  there are many videos in YouTube,  I will try and learn this new cast on, but I think my fingers will not work as well as hers.

All I know her name was Ellen,  she was a grandmother and lived in Norway,

Thank you Ellen

Tribute to Fox

 Hi,

My dear tatting friend died last month,  I did an earlier post about Fox and how we meet,

I  have tatted this Angel in her memory,   The pattern is Angel in an hour by Donata Jones,  I used Lizbeth thread no 20.in Snow White.

I would like to think she is tatting with the angels, hence the Angel

Rest in peace my dear friend

It’s a sad day in the tatting world

 Hi,

Last night I read on Instagram that Carilie or otherwise known as Fox, had died on the 22nd February,  I am very sad at hearing the news,  I never actually meet her,  but we became friends though tatting, and her blog tat-ology.   The world has lost a lovely lady passionate about tatting and cross stitch.

May she rest in peace and hopefully be tatting with the angels.
