Happy international tatting day and Mushaan DAL 2025 Challenge

 Hi,

Yes it might be Aprils fools day but it’s international tatting day,  around the world tatters like me are celebrating our day tatting and eating chocolate,  they do go together, plus we like to go and tat in public,  something I do quite often.  Last year I was in a waiting room in the hospital waiting for Vernon and this old lady passed me and said oh it’s the tatting lady,   She wanted to stop and watch me tat but unfortunately for her,  her transport arrived no doubt she will see me again and want to watch.  I have no idea when she has seen me before but it’s nice to have someone stop and ask what I am doing and take an interest.

But unfortunately I am ill and will not be going out to tat in public and eating chocolate well I might just have a square or two,  I was not well enough to go and put flowers on mothers grave yesterday for Mother’s Day,  I have to go and see the GP again this week,  I just hope they can get me better soon.

This is the first part of Mushaan’s DAL 2025 challenge.  I have not finished,  but I will show you more as and when I have done some more,  the picture shows the first two rounds and the challenge is to do more and design as many rows as you want

Have a wonderful day and enjoy tatting where ever you are in world.

Happy international tatting day

Hi,

Happy international tatting day to all tatters around the world.

Today is a bank holiday here in the U.K.,  the weather has been mixed,  I just would like it to warm up,  usually we tat in public today, but being a bank holiday that won’t be possible.  I do often tat in public either in the hospital waiting for Vernon,  or again waiting for him when he has his hair cut at the craft cafe, The Hive in Shepton Mallet.

I wanted to make something quick in tatting for the day,  and last Saturday this pattern popped into my email box,  it’s called Stained Glass mini Cross by Lilliantatlace,   It’s one and three quarter’s inches long on and half inches wide,  I added a tail making it into a mini book mark.  I used Lizbeth thread no 20 Countryside.

I think there will be some more of these little cross idea for a small bible.

Enjoy your day hope you get a lot of tatting done.

Happy tatting

International Tatting Day

 Hi,

Happy International Tatting day,  to all tatters around the world,  it’s been a sad year so far by losing two well known tatters,  but we have to think positive as there are always new tatters learning the craft.  For me this makes 52years tatting,  gosh that makes me feel old.

I started doing the butterfly ship pattern by Frivolite con Sabor,  sometime ago,  yes a ship with butterflies as the sails.  Well it’s one of those projects that has laid waiting to finish for a while now,  I still have the side butterflies to finish,   but I found these two practice butterflies,  as  I have nothing else to show for today, I thought I would use these for my tatting day,

The one above in yellow is no 2,  there are 8 different butteries make up the ship design,    This picture below is number one and these are the colours I chose to use for the ships sails,

I hope you have a wonderful day,  and enjoy tatting where ever you are.

Happy tatting

Happy International Tatting Day

Hi,

Yes it might be April fools day,  but today is International tatting day, and this year I have made this heart and paws in the colours of Ukraine. The blue should be darker but I don’t have any blue dark enough so I used this one I found.

The heart pattern is from Facebook called Pray for Ukraine by  Edda Guastalla

The  paws pattern is also from Facebook and I did them for all the animals that are frighten and suffering in Ukraine at the moment.  This pattern is by @1001 no’s Frivolite

I used the yellow thread which is new to me and I have never heard of Lesur Pixie no 20,  and the blue thread which I found in the bottom of my thread draw is an old ball of coats also no 20 which was brought in the 1979s.

I hope every tatter around the world has a lovely day tatting and eating chocolate

Happy International tatting Day

Hi,

Happy international tatting day to all tatters around the world.

As you know I adapted  the pattern  of the Hidden rose Snowflake that Muskaan designed  back last year,   here is a link to her blog
I am in the process of writing the pattern,  I only changed the count in two rings of the pattern to fit better into the gem,   in the meantime here is a picture of the ice drop I tatted using  Lizbeth thread, no 20 in Peach,  although it does not look peach in the picture it is peach.

Hoping you are all keeping safe and well

International Tatting Day - 1st April 2018

Hi,

This is my second post today,  Today is International Tatting Day,  there's a lot going on in the tatting world at the moment,   with the tatting worldwide tatting project with tatters around united in one thing, tatting pink squares for Brussels.  The deadline has now gone, so we await for the number of squares finally tatted.  There will always a few late ones due to the postal services across the world.

I have nothing new today that I am tatting at the moment to show you so I thought you would like to see my 100 years + old doily. I don't think I have shown this doily before so I thought I would show this doily.  This we think was tatted by my fathers mother,  we never saw her tat but this mat must have been hers,  when I found it in mothers cupboard it was a little dirty,  so I throw it in the washing machine., along with some over things of hers not realizing how old this mat was.  It was only when Mother and I were talking about this mat did we work out that it must have been hers and it was over 100 hundred  years old.  Yes its true I did throw it in the washing machine at 40o and it came out prefect, no strains,  yesterday I gave it a blocking so I could take this picture,  I did Carolyn's tip sprayed it with water and rolled the rolling pin over it.   For something old I think its not looking too bad.  I do take it with me when I give tatting talks, as an example of old tatting.   I might add I don't use it I keep it in a draw,  I think its too old to use everyday.

I have no idea what thread was used but I think it must have been number 80,  even if I did find the pattern I cant tat size 80 because of my eyes,  and I doint like the colour ecru.

Have a lovely tatting day,  Its Easter Sunday here and I'm staying in,  the weather is not good this weekend with snow forecasted for parts of the country tomorrow,  may not come here in the Mendips,  we have had two lots in March so you never know things come in three's.

                             Happy Tatting
                                   Hugs

International Tatting Day

Hi,
Today is International Tatting Day,   its an important day for us tatters as we usually get to go out and tat in public,   not sure I will be able to but you never know I might find somewhere to tat when I go shopping.
For over 25 years tatters all over the world have been celebrating International Tatting Day.   As the news letter from BellaOnline.com said she wish she could say what tatters were tatting 200 years ago but we can't. Possibly hanky edgings and doily's just the same as today, well similar in fact some of the patterns still exist and are still being tatted and brought up to date.  But one things for sure they wont have been tatting the Ice Drops.
The yellow Ice Drop is Diane's pattern Purple Fudge Ice Drop,  I used some yellow coats variegated no 20 thread,  its quite old and I have no idea when I brought it but with the white and a gold glass gem in the middle,  I did a different hanging chain for this one,  with 5 flipped and 5 unflipped stitches,  I think I should have followed the pattern better and did a lock chain on the the small rings at the top of the chains, never mind I am pleased with it and it looks real spring like.

This is Diane's pattern called Root Beer Fudge Ice Drop,  for this one I used Grape Pizzaz in no 20,  the beads are pale pink they only just show up in the picture and the center is a plain white glass gem,  the hanging chain I did a spiral stitches.

Here is a link to Diane's blog for the patterns

Have a good day and Happy tatting

               Hugs

International Tatting Day - 1st April / Craftree 2016 year long 24 Snowflake Challenge

Hi,
Happy International Tatting Day,   the day we try to show the world that tatting is not dead and buried.
I am combining this post with two things firstly the snowflake above is my Craftree 2016 24 Snowflake challenge and is the 4th Day of December,   I used Lizbeth thread no 20 in Ice blue and Niagara Falls which I had left on the shuttles from the 3rd Day of December,  Not sure about this colouring,  I have sewn the snowflake onto a white gift bag,
This is my other part of the post two hearts from the pattern Immortal Heart by Tatmon,   they are small so I made two and joined with a piece of ribbon.  I used Cranberry Bush Lizbeth thread no 20.

So now for a piece of chocolate and start the 5th day snowflake. or my Land of Laces doily whatever takes my fancy
Have a lovely tatting day

Happy Tatting
Hugs

International Tatting Day - 1.4.2013

 Hi

It might be April Fools Day (and the weather still feels like winter) but its International Tatting Day.  I am often asked it is just in this country to which I reply NO,    I can simply say tatting is world wide,   on all five continents, from Europe to South America  Africa, North America, Asia and Australasia    Whatever language is spoken tatting is universal,  all that is needed is a drawing of a pattern,  is enough to tat.
I found this little mat the other day,  I have no idea when I made it,   its from the book Tatting with visual Patterns by Mary Konior and its called flower piece,   there is another round,  for this one I know I used dark blue no 60 as I still have some left,   and  I think it was by Coats  I am afraid these days no 60 would be a little too small for my eyes,  my eyes must be needing stronger glasses must be my age!

As promised her is the tat along mat by Renulek (Intatters) in Sea Island Citrus Lizbeth no 20,  by the time you see this I should have finished this round and might have started the next.   Its taken a couple of months to get back to normal and start it again after my cock up and having to cut out a bit,  but its now my mojo seems to be back and its firmly on the way to being finished,   hopefully..

For more information on tatting click on the intatters badge in my sidebar or on the link for leaning tatting by Marilee  (Craftsy)

I hope you are having a lovely Easter,  keeping warm,  they say we have this cold weather possibly until the end of April,   With the clocks going forward yesterday into British Summertime, all I can say is its going to be a long time before we see summer.
                                Take care
                                    Hugs

International Tatting Day

Hi,

Today is International Tatting Day, I have some new bits to show you which I have saved up for today. Many tatters around the world will be going out and tatting either in a cafe or somewhere in public, unfortunately I am not going out today, but I was tatting at the craft fair yesterday.
Tatting is an art that is practiced all over the world, I am often asked about how old the art is or they have never heard of tatting. It dates back to the 16th century as far as I have found out, although it died out being done for a long time, it is coming back in a big way. I am hoping to start some tatting lessons, but due to being ill its been something that's on hold at the moment. I can say to anyone who does not tat, look down my sidebar and pop over to some of the tatting blogs listed, I am sure they would be pleased to see you, and you will be so surprised just how many tatters there are worldwide. Many years ago tatting would have been used from Doilies and edgings, today beads and many items are being incorporated into tatting, that the scope of uses for tatting has grown.
This is a new design that I have been working on, I call it Daisy Rose, and I have made a pendant with a silver leaf from a pair of earrings I brought to chop about and make into new items, the thread used is Lizbeth Purple Twist no 20.

The pink earrings which I am making a pendant to match, are also the Daisy Rose with silver leaves from a pair of earrings I brought a few months ago. the thread is very old but is by coats I am sorry I don't have the name of the thread its lost its label.

These blue earrings are from a pattern I found on the Internet a few months ago called Tree Earrings, by Nami, www.namiart.blogspot.com. I used Lizbeth thread Peacock blues which Wendy sent me before Christmas, its a lovely colour combination, and I will be using it often.

I hope where ever you are you enjoy international tatting day.

Until we meet again Take care

Hugs

Just a few more Earrings

Hi,

On this most beautiful day here in Somerset, not a cloud in the sky for the third day and its quite hot around 20 degrees, I hope this is not all the summer we are going to have and it lasts for the whole spring and summer.

Today I bring you just a few pairs of earrings that I have made during this week. the first picture is a pattern called Sheilas Earrings in Lizbeth thread no 20 called Sea Shell.

These are in the same thread and called Cymbinum orchid Earrings. I have put a pale pink pearl in the middle and I still like using the pearls in the middle of these instead of a small bead.

These are the same pattern but I have used a new thread Altin Basak Turkish thread number 3053 the colours are pink, blue and white very pale shades but perfect for a summer wedding.

These are again the same pattern but in yellow and a cream pearl in the middle the thread is anchor no 20 yellow.

By visiting some of the tatting blogs I follow I see that many tatters have had some wonderful International tatting days, I was at home but I did do some tatting and knitting. We don't have a park or cafes near for me to go and sit and tat. Tatters all around the world were able to find somewhere to show their craft to the public. Perhaps next year I will be well enough to get out and about and find a cafe to sit and tat.

I am afraid that's it for today. From now on I am unemployed I was officially made redundant yesterday, they sent me details of a few jobs within the group of company's but nothing suited me, they were for full time and I work part time, one was for a man as there was a works van and tool kit, as I am not a DIY person they might have had a man to go around behind me putting anything I did right. Somehow I don't think they would have kept in that job very long. The jobs were all miles away and too far for me to drive and with the cost of petrol, it was not worth it, so today I am unemployed. At least I can concentrate on getting better, I still don't know when my op will be but with the gorgeous weather we have at the moment I can sit in the garden and knit.

I have knitted the baby cardie and little hat and I have another one to do plus I now have a basket to line for the baby things to be put in. I think I am going to busy for a while yet. Plus I am knitting a lace cloth my fingers are never still.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend and enjoy the gorgeous weather while we have it.

In the meantime take care

Hugs

Margaret.
