The Taj Mahal Key

Hi,

When I injured my hand I was getting bored,  very unusual for me anyway Carollyn was running out of time to design a key for her up and coming tat lessons she is giving on her tatting retreat.  So I kindly said I would try and design a key for her.

Well after a few re-thinks I dreamt up this design,   honestly I did dream it up in the middle of night,  of course the next morning having no paper in my dream I had to remember the picture in my head.
As my hand got better I started doing a little tatting each day and finally the pattern became real.

After many emails between us here is the Taj Mahal key,   I know Carollyn loves it and I hope it goes down well when she does her tatting a key lessons.   unfortunately I wont be with her bit I will be there in spirit.

CD Sunday Challenge # 11 Anything goes using something from a CD

Hi,
This fortnight CD sunday has a new challenge again we are Anything goes #11 using something form a CD  this fortnight Wynn is hosting this challenge.
For my card this time I have some local inspiration from Jack and Jill the nursery rhyme.   The home of Jack and Jill is a local village to me called Kilmersdon,  a small village in Somerset,  which I often drive through to the hairdressers.
I used a googled image of Jack and Jill for the card,  the backing paper came from a CD called click, print and go by My Craft Studio.   The wording I did on computer and the flowers are from strash.  I finished off the card with a ribbon bow.

CD Sunday challenge now has a Facebook page for those who would like to enter the challenge and do not have a blog,   here is a link to the page

I hope you will visit the CD Sunday Challenge site, and remember if you want to enter the challenge you must use something from a CD no matter how small and let us know which CD you used.  Here is a link to CD Sunday Challenge blog  we would be pleased to see you.
I hope you are having a lovely weekend

CD Sunday Challenge # 10 Anything goes using something from a CD

Hi,

Time for another challenge at the CD sunday Challenge blog,  and this is another Anything goes as long a CD is used somewhere on the card,  either completely or just a small item,  which is being hosted by Meg,  unfortunately this is the last challenge, Meg is doing as she is leaving us,  I will miss her as will the whole the team and wish her luck for the future.
For my card this time I have used the backing paper from Magical Christmas moments by Cupcake crafting.  The igloo is from the Embossing folder cute christmas signature collection crafters companion,  and the felt penguins is from the works.
I inked the embossing folder background around the igloo.  and finished off the card with blue ribbon,  and some sparkle in the snowflakes

A walk in Bluebell wood

Hi,
Last weekend we went away to Vernons sisters in Oxfordshire,  while we were there we had a walk in this beautiful wood full of bluebells, near Faringdon,  I took these pictures,  the ground was just pure blue with them

I had a question from Jane on my last post re the Lilly of the Valley,  Yes Jane they do have a perfume.  I wish I could put the smell on here,  or send you the smell.

If you have missed my commenting on your blog,  blogger is not playing ball with my ipad,  I am trying to catch up with those I have missed.

Hope you have a lovely weekend.

1st May Lily of the Valley

Hi

Today the 1st May in France it is traditionally sold in all florists.   Lily of the Valley is the flower of the month for May and is part of the Asparagus family,  it is also highly poisonous plant,  I know some people call it a weed as it can spread quickly,   in my case its going tte wrong way in the garden and invading the gravel area.   It only grows in northern hemisphere .   I love Lilly of the valley  my Lilly of the Valley have made it and are flowering in the garden,  its not every year they flower on this day,   the warm spell we had over Easter has brought them forward.  This little red vase is the one I usually put my Lily if the Valley in.
So many flowers have meanings and some have superstitions Lilac and other blossoms are unlucky in the house,  There are people who consider white flowers to be unlucky in the house while on the other hand white heather to very lucky.
In France chrysanthemums are only used for funerals and never given as presents.
The colour combination of white and red flowers should be avoided for hospitals,  now hospitals don't allow flowers in the wards saying they are a health risk,  also the stage consider red and white to be   unlucky.
In most of European countries it is customary to give an odd number of flowers - (even thirteen which of course would be unlucky in Britain) and they remove the paper before giving flowers.
When I had my florist shop I had a french woman come in on may the first and was so annoyed that I did not have any Lilly of the Valley,  that year there was none in the market and they were late flowering,  but to her it was a crime.  the customer is not always right, and you cant have everything just when they want it.
I hope where ever you are in the northern hemisphere you enjoy your Lilly of the valley today.

CD Sunday Challenge - #9 Anything goes using something from a craft CD

Hi,
Time for another challenge at the CD sunday challenge blog and this fortnight Jane is hosting the challenge which is Anything goes using something from a CD.
For this card I using House Mouse triple CD using disc 2 decoupage section.  I could not find a backing sheet for this image so I used a piece of foiled leaf Aurora paper from Cardcraft plus limited and matted the image on a Kanban metallic card.  I decoupage the image and added a piece of ribbon. The sentiment is from the same CD  which matches the image.

Happy St George’s Day

Hi,
Happy St George’s day, patron saint of England,   many countries have a day off for their patron saints but not us.  It’s just another working day.  Over the years it’s been suggested that today is a bank holiday but our government has not given it,  perhaps one day maybe not in my lifetime.

So to all my English followers and visitors today Happy St George’s day.
