Inspired by Nature

 Hi,
From a very cold and wet Somerset,  the sun has been shining today but with all the flood water and yet more rain forecasted for next week its going to time for life in parts of Somerset to get back to normal.  Today I bring you my card for two challenges this week,
On the CD Sunday Challenge blog its Inspired by Nature link here  and I am also entering this card into the Joanna Sheens Challenge Blog Anything goes excluding Christmas link here
Well this week I have used Joanna Sheens CD called The Pamela West Collection,   I love this CD its full of some wonderful images and it was hard to choose but in the end I used this bridge,    I used the backing paper from the image, and then 3d the image using one corner of the picture to layer it up.
The pink and white roses on a flourish with gold peel off butterflies and gold peel off corners to finish off the card.
I have heard that my friend Janette is ill I do hope you get better soon, I am missing you on blogger.
Until we meet again take care and hope you are staying dry and not flooded out.
Hugs
Margaret

Rain, rain, rain, and tatting mentioned in my reading book

Hi,
From a very wet Somerset,   I am sorry I have nothing to show you today,  but just to let you know we are dry even if they garden is looking very very wet and sorry for itself.   We have acres upon acres of water,  farmland, and  the levels just covered in water.
We managed to get to Oxfordshire yesterday,  Vernon's Dad is in hospital at Bicester, we did go though some flood water in places not very deep and we got there in one piece.   This green and pleasant land as they call England is more like a water wilderness, in some places its hard to see where the rivers should be and where the fields are.
Dads doing well and seems to have got over his infection,   Mother seems to have had the same infection and she's a lot better.   Me I am still waiting for an appointment.
At the moment I am reading a book called The Ironmaster by Jean Stubbs,  it says it is a continuing the splendid Lancastrian saga of the Howarth's of Garth.   The book was published in 1981 (ISBN 0 330 26636 5)  Part one Man on His Mettle 1785-1793,  the print is small.   In chapter two "The ladies of Thornton House pursue their course in life unchanged,  he continues to tell his sister that they are managing without another teacher as she used to teach Latin and Greek to the young ladies.,  he continues "One feels your learning was too much for the Misses Whitehead,  they would rather their female charges tatted and tattled than studied ancient languages!"
I am only on chapter three and long way to go as the book is quick thick, I will let you know if tatting is mentioned again,   its not very often you see tatting mentioned in any book other than a proper tatting book.
Until we meet again keep dry and please whoever you are that did the rain dance for rain when they said we were short of water,   can you please stop and so a sun dance.

The CD Sunday Challenge - Layer it up

Hi,
What a day yesterday,  it has just rained and rained all night,   yesterday Vernon went to the Royal United Hospital,  we had a wet journey ,  the appointment went well and he has to go back in four months.  Today we had to go into Frome this afternoon,  after a morning of rain,  the roads had a lot of surface water,   we had several places where there's was a lot of standing water,   the river in Mells has burst its banks,  the road on the way back was flooded and we had to take a another route home.   I don't think we will be going out tomorrow as the forecast is for more rain and so far Somerset has had so much I don't know where the next lot will go.  If anyone wants some water out there just say and we will do our best to send you some.
This is my card for this weeks CD Sunday Challenge - Layer it up link here  I used the CD Winter Wonderland from My craft Studio   Volume One,
I used the backing paper from the image and then layered up the image onto silver miri card, and then  with the babble,  finally glittered the image.  I place a small dark blue ribbon on the babble,  wider blue ribbon down the side of the card, and finished off with some wonderful snowflakes which my friend Suzanne kindly made with her die-cutter machine,   Unfortunately my husband does not feel I need a die cutter machine as I don't make enough cards to warrant one.  So thanks Suzanne for making me some wonderful items.

This is a close up of the snowflakes
I was going to be in Cheese and Grain this weekend doing a Craft Fair but because I have not been in for two months due to illness I have lost my table,  I am hoping to get one in December.  I was not happy as I had one booked,  I think its best not to say any more on the subject.  It was going to hard on me doing the table with the pain I have but these new painkillers are helping to keep the pain down most of the time, but I have a lot of new things for Christmas to put on it.
Just to keep you up to date I am now being sent to see a constant but there is a 11 to 16 weeks wait for an appointment.  Roll on next year when I might find out what the pain is.
I hope you are having a lovely day, until we meet again take care

Christmas cards commissioned

Hi,
These are three cards I have been asked to make,  I am putting this top card into the challenge on the Joanna Sheens Challenge blog Cold and Frosty link to blog here.   I used the Joanna Sheen's Thomas Kinkade image and put glitter on the snow to highlight the ice,  I matted it onto red card, with gold miri card behind the image,  and placed a red bow in the corner and finished it off with gold peel off's.

This is another card with another image from Joanna Sheen's Thomas Kinkade again I put glitter on the snow but put the bow down the side. I finished this card off with silver peel off's.  I matted the image on silver miri card.
This card again another Joanna Sheens's Thomas Kinkade image matted onto gold miri card on cream card,   I used a red/gold ribbon and finished it off with gold peel off's. I used glitter to highlight the snow on the image.

Until we meet again take care

Happy Birthday Vernon

Hi

Today is my husbands birthday,  with him now home all the time having retired last year,  making a card has been a little hard,  but I got there in the end.
He wont be in a good mood as he has an appointment at the Royal United Hospital in Bath to see his consultant,  we are hoping nothing has changed.
His card is a Kanban image with a gold corset which I have weaved red ribbon in and red ribbon down the side of the card,   the image I matted on red and black miri card. finished off with gold words and gold hearts design down the top side of the card.
I hope he has a good day but the weather is looking very wet and windy.

One Tatting Lesson -

Hi,

This was me and my grand Daughter Bethany yesterday having a tatting lesson,  the picture is not good but here we are tatting a snowflake.  That's my husband sat beside us, engaged in conversation while our other grand Daughter Danielle took the picture.
Not the best picture in the world but it shows we have another tatter in the making.
Until we meet again
Take Care

Remembrance Day

We must never forget .......

For those who have served and those who are serving,  we must never forget those who never came home.

Look what I woke up to.......

 Hi,

Yes its the 4th November and this is what we woke up to,  snow,  this was taken at 8.15am we had about 3 to 4 inches and still falling as I took the pictures.  Its now 12 noon and its still on the ground,  although its starting to melt.  They said there might be snow on the back edge of the heavy rain moving across the country on high ground but we were not mentioned, well we had heavy rain all night and I thought it had stopped,  ha ha it replaced itself with snow.
I hope this is it for the winter,  they say if we have a wet winter bearing in mind we had a wet summer and autumn there will be floods.  The rivers are full and the ground is sodden.  Strange it was only a few months ago we had a drought.  I doubt if we will get the lawn cut  before the winter as the ground is so wet underfoot.  At least the snow covered the weeds up but my poor plants are weighed down  with the weight of the snow
I hope you have a lovely day
Until we meet again take care.

My tatted Fluffy Angel 23/25

Hi,
I want to introduce you to my Fluffy Angel,  a couple of weeks ago I showed you a fluffy snowflake,  well the brain cells went into overdrive  and I googled to see if there was a fluffy angel,  no could not find one.  With the brain cells working this is what they came up with.  This has been tested tatted by three lovely ladies  Wendy from umintsuru  link to her blog,   Fox from Tat-ology link to her blog  and Diane from Lace-lovin Librarian link to her blog.   They have been three of the best test tatters I could have have, to have a pattern tested worldwide is amazing and with the technology we have today this has been easy to do, so now  with there help the pattern is ready.

I used Oren Bayan Koton Perle no 8 but any thread that will fluffy can be used,   she takes 7 and three quarters of thread approximately and is 2 and half inches long with a wingspan of 4 inches approximately,
This is the fluffy Angel with beads,   I only put one bead per picot but Fox used three on each picot which look totally beautiful.
So for the first five tatters who would like a copy of the pattern please leave your name on this blog and I will send you a copy,   but I am afraid after that the pattern is now on my esty store,  which I am adding today, there is a link in the sidebar to my esty store.
They have all said she is gorgeous so I hope you will agree,  this is the moment of unveiling and the time I sit and hope she will be liked.
I have really enjoyed designing her and I have some more ideas running around the brain cells for fluffys.
News on the scan,  I had it yesterday but I have no results as yet,  just hoping they find something.
I hope you have a lovely weekend and stay dry.
                         Hugs
                      Margaret
PS Sorry all five free patterns have now gone.
