Hotel Flamingo, Olu Deniz.......... Parrots

Hi,
Turkey was very very hot,  in fact its the hottest September for 20 years, it never seemed to cool down.  Most days were spent at the pool and then at lunch time at the bar,  having a cool drink and feeding Cheko,  He is an African Grey Parrot but the other parrots have attacked him so the blue on his feathers is some antiseptic stuff to help heal the wounds.   He loved his nuts as you can see he was friendly and took them very gently I did rub his head but Vernon did not get a picture of that.  But if you wanted to feed him you had to buy the nuts from the hotel shop,  I am not saying a word, but as he was the hotel parrot I think they could have left some nuts under the bar for him.

These were the two other birds that lived in the ground of the Hotel,  they arrived in the morning,  I took this picture of them arriving as we went out on a trip, and then late afternoon went back to their night home.  They seem to enjoy being in the palm trees high above everyone, eating the palm dates.  I don't know their names but they seem to enjoy having their photos taken.
I am a bit behind commenting on the blogs at the moment,  I seem to fall asleep every afternoon at the moment,  I can only blame the tablets,  hopefully I will catch up with you all,  I have several other photos to share on our holiday in Turkey,
Until we meet again take care and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Downton Abbey Tonight

Hi,
Our local news on Friday night showed a snip of where part of Downton Abbey was filmed this week,  I managed to set the video recorder for last weeks programme so I did not miss the first episode of Downton Abbey,   Tonight they have filmed some of it at Lacock in Wiltshire which is not far away from us,  here is a link to the piece I wrote on Lacock when we took our Grand daughter for a visit.   The animals used  came from a local farm they had to have their tags covered,  as back in those times the animals did not have to registered and numbered and wear ear tags,  so they covered them up with bits of wool or whatever.
This is series number six and will be the last,  I think they will be doing a christmas special, and then that's it.
Sunday night without Downton Abbey will not be the same but I am sure they will find something else to take its place hopefully.
So you know where I will be tonight at 9 pm (GMT time),  hope you enjoy the series.
               Hugs
            Margaret

PS.  I hope that Barry and Susan might read this,  I have tried to send a friend request to you but Facebook wont let me,  you have my email address can you send me an email so we can keep in contact thanks,

One image and three cards

 Hi,

This image was a free one from Printable Heaven when I brought a CD of Italian images,  I made three cards all birthday, but different shapes and using the image in different ways.
The top picture I placed the image on a gold card and then placed both on a red card,  on a cream card with red peel off's down the side.
The stepper card has a larger image at the back and a smaller one in front.
The bottom one has the backing sheet that came with the image,  this card was also on a cream card with red peel off's to finish it off

Knitted Runners

 Hi,
Many years ago I knitted these two runners,  when I was planning on what to put on my  blog while I was away,  my hubby was doing the ironing and these were in the pile,   so here they are for you to look at.  They are both my design,  knitted in white cotton.  This runner is 24 inches long and 12 inches wide.

This runner is also knitted in white cotton,  many years ago and was done as a sample pattern runner,  This is my own pattern and measures 30 inches long and 11 and half inches wide.   The edge is different I picked up all the way around and knitted the edge after so many rows I did a row of knit two together and knit one and then knitted the same number of rows and sewed down the edge.  This gave the runner a stronger edge.

Trowbridge Museum part two

 Hi,
Last week we took our Grand Daughter back to the Trowbridge Museum to see the weaving exhibition which they were putting together when we went last time.   Unfortunately we were not as happy with this exhibition,
The top picture shows weaving with two sticks which you wind the thread around in a figure eight and push down the white cord until you have a long strip which is then made into something such as the mat in the picture.
This is her doing some weaving they had some long strip of fabric for any one who wanted to play with weaving,  and the picture below shows her small effort,  they would not let her have this piece but I did buy her a weaving card and instructions for her to play with at home.
As I say there was no one to tell us about the displays,  so I will leave with the picture sorry I can't tell you anything about them,  enjoy

CD Sunday Challenge - Gorgeous Gowns

Hi,
This is my card for the CD Sunday Challenge which started today, yes this was the fastest card in the west.
I used The Art Deco Timeless Keepsake CD for the image and matted it on blue card.  The backing paper sorry I cant remember which CD it came from, I put a spray of Ivy leaves with white and blue roses,  with blue and pink shady ribbon.  finished off the card with white die cuts.
That's my last card before I fly tomorrow to Turkey.
I hope you like it.  see you soon.
