Hi,
Today is International Tatting Day, its an important day for us tatters as we usually get to go out and tat in public, not sure I will be able to but you never know I might find somewhere to tat when I go shopping.
For over 25 years tatters all over the world have been celebrating International Tatting Day. As the news letter from BellaOnline.com said she wish she could say what tatters were tatting 200 years ago but we can't. Possibly hanky edgings and doily's just the same as today, well similar in fact some of the patterns still exist and are still being tatted and brought up to date. But one things for sure they wont have been tatting the Ice Drops.
The yellow Ice Drop is Diane's pattern Purple Fudge Ice Drop, I used some yellow coats variegated no 20 thread, its quite old and I have no idea when I brought it but with the white and a gold glass gem in the middle, I did a different hanging chain for this one, with 5 flipped and 5 unflipped stitches, I think I should have followed the pattern better and did a lock chain on the the small rings at the top of the chains, never mind I am pleased with it and it looks real spring like.
This is Diane's pattern called Root Beer Fudge Ice Drop, for this one I used Grape Pizzaz in no 20, the beads are pale pink they only just show up in the picture and the center is a plain white glass gem, the hanging chain I did a spiral stitches.
Here is a link to Diane's blog for the patterns
Have a good day and Happy tatting
Hugs
Margaret
