Knitted Slippers

Hi,
Yes I managed to knit a pair of slippers,  my other sister in law from Vernons previous marriage always calls me her sister in law and she has very swollen feet and cant buy a pair of slippers.  These were very hard to knit as I had trouble with a nerve in my shoulder blade at the time,  plus I had a lot of pain in my hands when I knitted it as it is very thick and heavy.
They were knitted with two strands of Big Value chunky wool by King Cole,  colour was called Heather.   Then to add height I added a top piece which I finished off with a picot row, The flower was a water lily pattern from the book 20 to make knitted flowers  I had some left over wool from another project long time ago so I have no idea who made it,  and I added a bead in the middle.
This is a picture of her foot yes it really is a big foot,  I stuffed a sock with small balls of wool to get the shape,  it helped me to knit and get the size right.
I put on the bottom a non slip piece of rubber with a used blanket stitch around.   I just they fit.

Water lilly Brooches

Hi,

I hope you are having a lovely weekend and the weather is behaving itself.  This post is scheduled today.
These knitted flowers are easy to knit,   they are knitted with double knitting wool and made from two layers and then a knitted round,  which is easy just a few rows,  then run the thread around in little stitches putting any odd thread in the middle for padding and gather then sew in the middle.  I sewed a brooch pin on the back.  The pattern is from the book 20 to make Knitted flowers.
I have been a little slow at commenting on the blogs,  if you have not had a comment I am sorry I will catch up with you.
Until we meet again Take Care

May Toys and Flowers

Hi,
Last weekend was warmer and lovely,  this weekend is cold, windy and heavy showers,  what a difference a few days make.   No wonder there is a lot of flu around,  I have no idea what to wear from one day to another.
These are the Toys I knitted for Lizzy,  first is another Huggins the Hippo but I made her in variegated pink and added a tatted a white small butterfly on her leg. The pattern is from Fluff and Fuzz.

Next is Bernie the dog,  I knitted him in cream and I love him,  I think he worked out really well,  This is another Fluff and Fuzz pattern.

This is a Mice pattern which was a pattern from Woman Weekly,   he's knitted again in cream with a blue variegated scarf.
When I  took the photos I tried to get him in his best position,   not sure this is his best but his long legs going every way I had a little smile so I am sharing it with you.
Now for the flowers they are plain white with crystal, dark and pale blue beads in the middle.  Royal blue with white tips on the petals and crystal beads.  Gold and Black with plain gold beads in the middle,   the black and gold wool was hard to knit,  I found this in my draw so I have no idea what I brought it for but it made a lovely flower in the end, only the picture does not do it justice.

I hope you are having a lovely weekend,  and the sun is shining where ever you are,  until we meet again Take Care

I can't believe my luck

Hi,
What a beautiful day, the sun is shining and its quite hot.
Today I bring you my new books, firstly my Mary Konior book, that I manage to find on Amazon on Friday, I know its secondhand but its a miracle that its even for sale, OK it was expensive compared to what I usually pay for a book, but now I have all four of her books. Mary died last year and these books are out of print so to find one that I could afford was a miracle. There are some lovely patterns I have some tatting on the go at the moment but I know which book I will be using for a while.
Now this book I got the other week, I wanted some inspiration for some flowers and this book has done it. If you have not yet got this book then I suggest you try it, it has some lovely flowers in it.

These are what I did with the book, the cream and gold thread is very old and I have no idea now what is was called as this was made from a bit of a ball left in the draw, I added gold beads to the middle. Then I made the other one with double knitting dark blue wool no label on the ball so I cant remember what that wool is was either, but I added so sparky thread in the middle, must have been good Melissa (DIL) walked off with it, saying she loved it. I have now knitted another one.
I did on Saturday brought the knitted cake book in the series as yet nothing as been knitted from it, will show you some lovely new knitted cakes when I have.
I hope the weather is good with you and until we meet again in blog land take care
Hugs
Margaret
