The CD Sunday Challenge - Frosty Days

 Hi,
The second post of the day, its not often you get two posts in one day.  This is my card for this weeks CD Sunday Challenge - Frosty Days.  to be honest I could have taken my garden as yesterday it was not only frosty and completely white but we also had a Hoar Frost so the trees were beautifully painted in frost.
This card I used Joanna Sheens Enchanted Christmas CD for the backing paper and her Thomas Kinkade 3d image.
I glittered the image with an inch of its life so I was pleased that you can see the glitter nothing worse than glittering an image and it does not show up.
I put matted the 3d image on a strip of backing paper and silver miri board with a dull silver card corner piece that is embossed with Merry christmas and Christmas trees,   finished off with Joanna Sheens red ribbon from her on line shop and seasons greeting in red peel off.

The CD Sunday Challenge - Wings and Legs

Hi,
Its quite mild today and they say its going to get even milder this week, what a funny month February has been. I hope we don't get snow next week as we are going away for a few days towards the end of the week.
I am sick of this bug, I have had it for a week and feel absolutely weak and tried, I still have the pains in my stomach and feel as if I have a cold now, the cough never seems to get any better. Anyway enough of me today I am showing you this weeks challenge card for the CD Sunday challenge which this week is Wings and legs. link here

This beautiful image comes from the Joanna Sheen's Cd Enchanted Dreams, its not one I have used before but I love the way the butterflies are pulling her along on a flower. I put the image on a blue card and punched the corners twice, once with one that's makes a slit for the corners to slid into and then the rounder corner punch. I put the multi colour peel off butterflies onto acetate and cut them out and stuck them together so the large butterfly has three layers, and the one at the bottom has two layers. The background paper I wanted to do something different so I folded it and made pleats for a change, the background paper is the one that goes with the image on the CD
I finished off the card with a blue ribbon from the Joanna Sheen online shop and silver peel offs.

Vernon's Dad 80th Birthday Card.

Hi,

Today is Vernon's Dad 80th Birthday, we had a party last Saturday as Becky (Dads Grand daughter) was going back to Tanzania for 9 weeks working. It was a lovely party with many of the family and friends. Dee did a beautiful spread and the cake I ordered on the Internet arrived on time, and I must say it was a lovely cake.
Back to the card, I made this parchment card to my own design, I put a blue footballer for Chelsea which is the football club Dad supports. The motorbike peel off in gold was like the one he had when Vernon was a little boy and two chickens also in peel offs because they had chickens in the garden when they lived at Batcombe in Somerset, they moved there when Vernon was seven years. I wanted a card that brought something from years ago. I did a simple design in embossing and perforating. I don't think this was my best effort and took me about five hours to do.
At the moment with mother in hospital I don't seem to have any time. I put a blue sheet of paper behind the parchment sheet and used a blue ribbon down the side, the ribbon is from Joanna Sheen's online shop.

I know those who regularly visit my blog must be wondering, Vernon was 65 year old last November and here's his Dad 80 years old today, Vernon is his step son and has been since he was three years old, so hes the only Dad Vernon has known.

Well I hope hes had a lovely day and here's to the next twenty years because he says he going to live to be one hundred and wants a telegram from the Queen............ could be King Charles by then.

Update on my Mother she goes into a Nursing home today, on the next post I will tell you all about it.

The last Christmas Cards.

Hi,
At least its stopped raining and the wind has finally died down. These two cards were made for Christmas, I wanted something that was not the usual things Christmas cards have but were for Christmas. The top one was for Vernon's Dad and the other was for Dee Vernon's sister.
We were unable to go up to Oxford over Christmas because I had flu but tomorrow we are going up to Dads 80th Birthday Party and then I can give them their cards. I was so late with them that they missed the post and we said we would take them with us on Boxing Day. Well they say the best laid plans don't work, and in this case they did not.

I used the tatting pattern 5 point Celtic motif which I have done before but I made them with 10 points instead of 5, the pattern is a Sue Hansons Pattern, I used Lizbeth Christmas thread no 20. I put the motif on a gold miri board card, the backing paper was free from a magazine. The ribbon is sheer from Joanna Sheen's online shop. I have done several of these before and I think they are lovely for cards. I finished off the cards with gold peel offs.

I hope you like these cards, I wanted something different and I hope I managed that, none of us felt in the mood for Christmas after Peters death. The rest of the family got brought cards which is very unusual from me, but we with so much going on I just could not find the time to make some for them.
I was going to do a challenge card for the Sunday CD Challenge, but with the week I have had I have not had time for myself. Mother is now going into a home so I have been looking at nursing homes for her, I think we have found the one that will suit her, its now just getting the paperwork done and then sorting her bungalow out. Vernon's is wandering how he found time to go to work with all the wandering around we have down over the last few weeks, he would have had a lot of time off work to help me.

Commissioned christmas cards

Hi,
On this sort of sunny day, at least it is fine, even if the sun is hazy. Its still mild although not quite as mild as it has been, hopefully this mild spell will make the winter shorter.
Today I am showing two commissioned cards, they are both decoupage images from Joanne Sheen's Thomas Kinkade collection.

I have mounted them both on cream card and used gold miri board, gold ribbon, and glitter both images on the snow where the lights hit it.

I do hope he likes them as they are being sent to him as I wont see him again in time for Christmas.

Mother is doing quite well and will be in hospital for 6 to 8 weeks, at some point she will be transferred to a community hospital, not sure when that will happen. We have found someone to look after the Joey while we are away. This week is proving to be a busier week than I had planned and I am already feeling knackered.

This card is also a Thomas Kinkade image from Joanne Sheen, but was mounted on silver card and has a sheer blue ribbon and matching bow, the ribbon is also from Joanne Sheen's online shop. It is also glitter and is in my esty shop.

Butterfly Cards

Hi,
What a beautiful day here in Somerset, after the bad weather we have had over the last week, its a real treat to see the sun, although the temperatures have remind high for this time of year its been very wet.
After the horrendous crash on the M5 on Friday night, my sympathies go out to any family who has lost someone, the weather was bad all day and the road would have been very wet, with patchy fog. At present the road is still closed and being the main motorway down to the West Country it does carry a vast amount of traffic. The cause of this accident is not known and may take some time to find out. Motorways are the safest roads we have and its been a long since there has been such a bad accident.
Back to today's post these two cards have been made with the same butterfly stamp and heat embossed. The top card I used red embossing power and backed it on red flowery card, with red ribbon and finished off with silver peel offs. The other card I used turquoise embossing power, with backing paper from Joann Sheen's Enchanted dreams CD, finished off with white ribbon. Both ribbon have come from Joanna Sheen's online shop and are really good quality. I have not made any cards for two weeks and these I was saving to use on schedule posts while I was away, anyway I thought it was time I put something on my blog and to say I am getting better slowly, this flu is taking a bit to shake off.
I have been having trouble with my shoulder, neck and arm for some time and tomorrow they are going to put a corrosion injection in my shoulder to try and to reduce the pain, just another thing in a long line of things this year, hopefully after our holiday in a couple of weeks time a the new year approaching life might get better, but I am not holding my breath.
I hope you like these two cards, I think by now everyone knows I love butterflies.
