Happy Birthday Vernon

 Hi,

Today is my husbands birthday,  after a very hard time since June,  I can say things are beginning to get better,  and he’s now having physio on his shoulder.

I made him this card,  its a download from craftsuprint.com I love this set,  there are four designs,  and since we  went to Scotland in April I just had to make him one  of these cards with the highland cow and whisky bottle. I added some peel off hearts coming from the cows head.

It’s getting colder this week,  just hope it’s a fine day.

CD Sunday Challenge - anything goes #145

Hi,

Time for another challenge at CD Sunday  and this fortnight it is Pamela who will be the host

For my card this fortnight I have used an old CD popcorn bear disc 2 by My craft studio, I used the backing sheet and matching image,  I used a  stepper  shape card from KatySue.  I used the bear images and put them down the sides so they are poking out from the card,  it maybe hard to see in the photo. I added a hand made blue bow at the top and used a flower edging die down the side from Printable Heaven,   It is an old die I have not used for some time,  it was nice to use some old items in the craft room for a change.

CD Sunday Plus challenge has a Facebook page for those who would like to enter the challenge and do not have a blog,   here is a link to the page the challenge and do not have a blog,

2024 TTAL - temperature tatting along part 13

 Hi,

It’s a beautiful day now here in Somerset,   I know I have not posted very much over recent weeks,  and I would like to thank Janette for her lovely comment on my last post.  Yes we are both ok,  well ok’ish to be more correct.

As you know Vernon had an accident in June,  it’s been a long time but we have now found out the damage to his shoulder in the last couple of weeks,  he’s now going or will be having physio on the shoulder,  no idea when that will start,  if it takes as long as it was to find out what he did when he fell,  he might start physio next year.

As his shoulder gets better he has finally had some skin cancer cut out,  it’s taken 11 months since he saw them in clinic to finally get treatment,  now I am a nurse looking after and dressing the stitches every few days.  Hopefully this won’t bring the stress illness back,

September brought on some sort of illness,  and we now realise that it was stress related,  I was totally worn out,  looking after someone full time,  is no laughing matter when you are disabled and have fibromyalgia,  we went away for a week at the end of September,  total rest,  it was doing us good until I got a nasty cold,  that affected my eyes,  it was a really nasty head cold,  although I still have a cough,  yes I am on the mend.

This week I am full on as I have two craft fairs two weekends following each other,  I had some plans for some new things most of which did not happen,

The picture above is my temperature tat along,  I finished September yesterday,  only three more months,  it now measures 18 by 17 inches,  there’s some ends to sew in and a few beads to sew in for land mark items during the year,  we never did get a really hot day,  so the red colour was never used.   The temperatures are slowly going down as reflected in the colours.  Although it’s quite mild for the time of year.

Well there’s an update in what’s been happening over the last few months.  I have a few bits to post and I will post over the next few weeks.

Hope you are keeping well,

Margaret

CD Sunday challenge - Anything goes # 143

 Hi,

Here we are at the end of September,  I have scheduled this post as I am away for the week.  As usual it’s anything goes and the host this fortnight is Jocelyn.

For  my card this fortnight I used a free download from craftsuprint,  I enjoyed this card,  but the top with the roses is very fiddly so I cut around and used a grey promarker to save some of the more fiddly bits and give a more stubble top,  I also decoupaged the roses in the middle.  I added a red ribbon bow

2024 TTAL - Temperature tat along part 12

 Hi,

Here is update on the temperature tat along on Facebook,   I have now finished August,  and I am 10 days behind.  I have had a couple of days which I have been too tried to tat,  but hopefully I can catch up this month,

The weather has not been very hot in august and we have been below normal temperatures or just on the average temperature,  I was really hoping to get a few red  thread days this summer,  but dark pink and only a few days of those all summer.   My sister  in law suggested doing it again next year to compare temperatures,  not sure it’s been a bit of a labour of love.  I am looking forward to December now and finishing it.

Today is 9/11 and a day that begins back memories of the planes crashing into the twin towers and the pentagon,  my pen friend was in the pentagon when the plane crashed into it,  she escape but I remember my thoughts watching that plane go in the build.   She told me that they were in her bosses office watching New York and someone saying behind her that they would never hit the pentagon,  then bang and someone running though shouting get out.  She ran out with everyone else as fast as she could.

Hope you are having a good week

Margaret.

CD Sunday challenge- anything goes #141

Hi,

Today is the first day of September,  and I am hoping the weather just might be a bit better,  it’s certainly been windy towards the end of august,  while I am writing this post,  it’s blowing well.   It’s time for another challenge at CD Sunday and the host this fortnight is Jo

For my card I used an image  and backing paper from party Penguins 2 CD by Debbi Moore,   I thought this was a little different colouring to the usual Christmas cards, and I felt it worked well.  I decoupaged the image  and  I also used a snowflake die frame  by Chloe,  which I cut in half and used in two corners and scattered a few snowflake around the card,

A walk around my garden

Hi,
It seems ages since I did a walk around my garden,  and as I have not a lot to put on my blog,  I thought I would do a walk,  the first walk this year,  the weather this year has been the best,  a wet winter, wet spring followed by a wet summer,  it’s been around or below average temperatures so that has not helped either.  With Vernon out of action as well,  and having to do everything the garden has suffer even more, so please don’t look too hard,  the weeds grow faster than the plants.
The picture above is a new lily bulb I brought in the spring called Viva La Vida and it’s striking colours,  brought some sunshine to the garden.

This is my yellow day lilies,  I have some in orange too,  but they went over before I could get a picture of them.

this is a hebe,  I found this growing in the gravel it’s not a seedling from my garden and the birds must have dropped to,  and it grow,  so I transplanted into a better spot,  it has pale purple flowers.  A nice gift via a bird.

This is my pink Hebe,  this is a cutting which I took of another Hebe,  originally I planted a Hebe,  to go over my dogs grave in my mothers garden and then I took cuttings,  I call it Shona’s bush,  as I have no idea what name it should have.

This is Evening primrose,  they are a pain really,  they seed themselves where they want to be,  not necessarily where I want them,  if I try and transplant them they die,  so I tend to leave them,  well one or two depending where they came up, and pull the rest up,  this year they have grown very tall,  the flowers only last about a day.

This is very pretty plant,  lovely pink flowers,  I have no idea what’s it’s called,  but it’s really a front of border plant.

These are beautiful orange flowers,  I saw these when we stayed in Weymouth and collected a few seeds,  which I have been able to grow, again,   They do tend to self seed themselves which is fine,  I  have no idea what they are called.

This is a bush Fuchsia called Lena Dalton,  I brought this plant in the spring and I am very pleased with it,  in the pot beside is my Nerines,  they flower in the autumn,  I put the bulbs in the pot last year,  I have plenty of leaves hoping for some flowers in the autumn.

I forgot this is my marrows,  I love marrows,  I thought I would try to grow one,  ha ha lots of flowers but the veg,  they just seem to start to grow and then rot,  might be the weather,  who knows,  but I don’t think it’s going to give me any marrows,   My tomatoes and runners beans are not as good this year either.

Well that’s a quick walk around the garden,  the photos have been taken over the last two months,

Hope you enjoyed your walk

Margaret

2024 TTAL - temperature tat along part 11

Hi,

I’m falling behind again,  looking after hubby and the hot weather we had is taking its toll on the fibromyalgia.

Here is mine finished July,  I am working in a square clock wise,  getting bigger it’s 15 and a half square, I have some ends to sew in,  even though we had some very hot days we still have not reached 30c I was hoping to do red,  we had to cancel our holiday which would have given me a red,  I hope we can have some more nice days before the winter.

Temperatures as per Somerset in the West Country U.K.

Have a lovely day

CD Sunday challenge, - anything goes # 140

 Hi,

It’s now the middle of August,  where has this year gone,  just a few more days to wait before Vernon will finally get a scan on his shoulder,  he had the accident in June,  saw the orthopaedic surgeon on the 3rd July and the scan he wanted is on the 24th August,  we have been farmed out to another hospital   When I rang the RUH Bath   I was told that was quick and if we wait for the RUH bath it would be end of October

This challenge this fortnight is being hosted by Meg,

For my card this fortnight,  I found a brilliant card on craftsuprint.com,   It’s our friends birthday who came with us to Scotland in April,  so thought this would be ideally suited.  By the time this challenge is due he will have already had this card,

Happy 22nd Wedding Anniversary

(

Hi,

Today is our 22nd wedding anniversary,  funny how today falls on  a Friday and 22 years  ago it was a Friday we got married on.

We have had our ups and downs and at the moment,  I am looking after Vernon,  he had a fall on the 16th June  and after an X-ray we were told he had three fractures in his shoulder,  by our local minor injuries unit,    We saw  the orthopaedic surgeon on the 3rd July,  next Saturday the 24th he will have a scan we have been farmed out to another small hospital for the  scan on his injury,  when I asked about waiting so long I was told that was quick,  if we had waited for the Royal United hospital in Bath it would have been the end of October.   Then we have to inform the surgeon that he’s had the scan and wait for an appointment to see him.  Hopefully we will find out what real damage has been done.   He’s  beginning to do little things with his good arm,  not easy and he gets frustrated,  I am totally knackered and exhausted,  with the fibromyalgia playing up as well.  Still it is in sickness and in health,  so we just pod n.

I made a quick card,  it’s all from stash,  I tried to make it masculine,  he’s not one for a card that’s too feminine,  so I hope he likes it,  instead of flowers, ribbon or feathers,  I just used die cut foliage and three die cut hearts,   I’m afraid my mojo seems to be tried too, or has disappeared,  hopefully it will come back soon.

CD Sunday challenge - anything goes #139

Hi,

Another challenge on CD Sunday,  this is always a hard day for me it would have been my fathers birthday ,  and also my dogs birthday,  she was a Lhasa Apso,  I had her almost 16 years and she got me though some of my toughest times in my life.  Lhasa being the capital of Tibet and the only breed of dog  allowed in a Tibetan monastery.  I still miss her,  perhaps one day I may get another.

On another note, Amines,  has dropped out due the hurricane Beryl for the time being and hopefully when everything settled she may be back with us,  there is an update link on Carols blog.

On with this challenge as always it’s anything goes and the host is Pamela

For my card this fortnight I used a blank card by KatySue,  first time I have brought anything from her and I am pleased with the quality of the card.  I used an old favourite CD Pamela West collection by Joanna Sheen for the  image and background,   the ivy die is also from Joanna Sheen,  peel off words and a hand made bow.

CD Sunday challenge - Anything goes # 138

Hi,

Time for another challenge at the CD Sunday challenge blog,  and this fortnight Aimes is the host,  due Beryl  the hurricane in Texas Aimes will not be hosting,  she has very limited internet and this fortnight she will not be entering a card.  My best wishes to her and hope any damage can be soon repaired.

For my card this fortnight I used a download from the Tatted Lace magazine no 57,  I wanted something different so I made a plainest card,   using a circle from the backing paper which I used peel offs around the circle and decoupaged the image of the Blue tit birds,  and just added a hand made bow near the top.

Dorset Buttons

 Hi,

Well I made three buttons last week on holiday,  they may not be perfect, but I am pleased with them,  I used white merchandise cotton and the pink is Oren Bayan no 8 which is the same thickness as the white, Oren Bayan is a Turkish thread,  very smooth and I use a thinner one for tatting. This pink is a varigated thread.

I used Crafting  Thread Jewellery but Pat Olski,  it’s a lovely book so glad I brought it sometime ago.and I would recommend it. I am planning to make more

CD Sunday challenge - Anything goes, #137

 Hi,

As we go into July it’s time for another challenge at CD Sunday and this fortnight it’s Jocelyn to host.

For my card this fortnight I chose to use Shoes in Bloom by Ooh La La creations.  I used the image and backing paper which went with the image,  the image is called Lily bud,   I matted the image onto pink card,  made to sprays of flowers by cutting out some flowers from another image,  added it a white Malibu feathers and some dark pink ribbon   The green foliage I used signature collection leafy flourish dies.

2024 TTAL - temperature tat along part nine

 Hi,

Six months finished of the temperature tat along   Here is my latest I am five days behind,  as you know I am working in a square,  middle is January I started in the third week if January,  I have dark pink coming up for two squares,  looks like this week could be back to orange,  I have not had time to block it,  due to hubby’s accident and limited time doing any crafting,

It’s been hard going over the last two weeks, to say I am knackered is an understatement,  he does try and help with one hand bless him,  hoping the fractures will mend soon.

C.D Sunday challenge- anything goes #136

Hi,

Nearly the end of June,  this year is going fast,  it’s time for another challenge at the CD Sunday challenge blog,  this fortnight I am hosting it.

For my card I used Janet Kruskamp  collection  CD by Joanna Sheen,  I have nit used this fir some time so it’s nice to revisit some old CDs. I used the backing paper that went with the images,  I decoupaged the sign at the top of shop, matted the image onto green card,  plus the two small images which were on the same sheet, and  added a handmade green bow.  This was a little bit more of a simpler card,

Endrucks Project - Life is Bliss Butterfly

 Hi,

At last I manage to make another butterfly,  this is a 3D butterfly of Life is Bliss butterfly,

Originally I put a bead in the middle of the onion ring,  somewhere the bead did ,not like the middle,  it might have been too big,  this time I tried again the photo is not easy to take, so I hope you can see it is 3D I put two butterflies together next time I am going to try some beads

I should say watch this space.

CD Sunday challenge - anything goes #135

 Hi,

Here we are almost the middle of the year,  wow how it has gone fast, and time for another challenge at CD Sunday,  this fortnight it’s Jo to host.

For my card this fortnight took me out of my comfort zone, and although it’s ok,  I did struggle as it’s a subject that is not me,  I wanted something different and a bit of a challenge in itself,  you see this Far Eastern card is supposed to be Japan,  I was watching F1 race in Japan and it gave me an idea to make a card.  Why I have no idea,  Japan has always been a country I have no wish to visit as my mother was a Japanese POW,  I grew up with nothing being allowed in the house made in Japan,  I remember one Christmas as I opened a present she saw made in Japan,  the present was taken from my hand and thrown in the bin.

Anyway I decrees,  I used. Joanna Sheens CD Eastern Treasures for the image and backing paper,  the storks I decoupaged,  matted the image onto green shinny card from stash,  The tree die and flowers were from die Tree for all seasons which was a free gift years ago from a craft magazine no longer in publication.  I sewed beads into the center of the flowers to represent cherry blossoms,  and added a red peel off of a Japanese building.

I hope you like my effort with this card,  the next challenge card will be better.

2024 TTAL - Temperature tat along part six

 Hi,

Today it’s a beautiful day here in Somerset,  and here is part six of the temperature tat along on Facebook,

Yes it has grown a bit,  not as much as I would like,  having seven days in Scotland and not doing any,  I am about 14 days behind,  I am working in a clock wise direction and   on the very left of the picture are the first five days of Scotland two more to do,   You will see it was colder up there,  just as I was beginning to get some warmer days we went back into the cold, each Scottish day will have a tartan button sewn on the square.  They have just arrived in the post today so next time you see this the buttons will be sewn on.

The weather this week is set to get warmer and hopefully I can catch up with the garden and other jobs that has been waiting for the fine days.

 Hi,

Today is the 1st May and my Lily of the Valley are in flower,  recent years they have been late but this year they are coming into flower,  I took this picture yesterday when I picked them,  also in the whitefairs vase is some white alpine flowers that are beside the Lily of valley in my garden.

When we came home from Scotland my bluebells were in flower along with my daffodils which I planted very late, in fact the earth in the tub was frozen when we planted them and did not expect them to grow,  but here they are in flowers.  Vernon is going to want this tub for his runner beans so I will transplant them into the garden,  hopefully next year they will flowers at the right time.

I hope you have a lovely week,  hopefully this nasty wind will die down and it will warm up so I can plant some tomatoes plants, I am going to try a marrow plant never grown them before,   and put my bedding plants in the tubs.

I am preparing posts about Scotland,  we really enjoyed our trip and saw a lot of Scotland,  Vernon had never been to Scotland, and neither of us had been over to the Orkneys,  Hope I can make the posts interesting for you.

CD Sunday challenge - anything goes #132

Hi,

Time is flying and time for another challenge at the CD Sunday Challenge blog,  this fortnight Carol is the host.

For my card this fortnight I have done something just a little different,  I took some thick card and printed the background straight onto the card from click, print and go CD by My craft studio,  all the images  are Debbi Moore’s web site, a free download called Gardening Gnomes. All I added was a hand made bow.

CD Sunday Plus challenge has a Facebook page for those who would like to enter the challenge and do not have a blog,   here is a link to the page

I hope you will visit the CD Sunday Plus Challenge site, and remember if you want to enter the challenge you must use something from a CD, USB or digital material no matter how small and let us know where and what you used the material from,   and that it is a card or a project.    Here is a link to CD Sunday Plus Challenge blog  we would be pleased to see you.

I hope you have a lovely weekend

Mike’s fund raising

Hi,

This is a little unusual post but I have permission from Mike of the Hive in Shepton Mallet to post this and help him raise money for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

These knitted dolls are in the nude, no I did not do any knitting towards them,  but the pictures has been blacked out for certain bits of their bodies,   It’s has and is a talking point not only in Shepton Mallet but around the world,  he’s had people contacting him from all parts of the world.  There is also a book with the patterns in,  which if anyone wants one please contact Mike at the Hive.

This is the piece from The hives Facebook page,

Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance provides life-saving, pre-hospital critical care, to patients in need. They are a vital part of the community across Dorset and Somerset and they rely on your support.

I’m supporting DSAA as the service they provide is 95% funded by charitable giving; by people like you. Last year, they were tasked to 2,424 incidents, with each mission costing approximately £3,500.

Please join me in helping to raise funds for this life-saving service. Together, with your support, they can be there for patients.

We are a local crafting cafe which is a friendly hub for our local community. Our crafting community has created some nudinits to display in our window to fund raise for the Air Ambulance. Interest in our project has been immense and we have made the BBC news; Metro London and press in New Zealand. Due to some complaints as to the nudity a Free The Hive Five campaign has begun. People are asking how to donate to our cause, hence this Just Giving page. Help us reach our target !!

Any donation would be gratefully received

Who ever knitted these they are brilliant,  from a policeman,  to morris dancers,  I wish I could show you more but in the name of keeping the post clean,  and not receiving nasty comments,  I have left it to everyone imagination

CD Sunday challenge - Anything goes #131

 Hi,

This  fortnight I am heading to Scotland and I hope the weather will be kind for us,  Vernon has never been to Scotland and although I have been to most of the trip is was a very very long time ago.  The host this fortnight is Aimes,  her first time as the host,

For my card this fortnight I used Flower Fairies Friends CD by Crafters Companion,  the fairy is called Apple blossom.  I used the backing paper that went with the image ,  I layered the image a few times, I placed bronze peel off lines across the card,  I saw something like this recently and thought it made the card  look different,  I also added bow I made.

CD Sunday Plus challenge has a Facebook page for those who would like to enter the challenge and do not have a blog,   here is a link to the page
