Easter walk around my garden

Hi,

Belated Happy Easter to everyone reading my blog today,  sorry this  should have been published yesterday, I don’t have anything to show so I thought I would give you a walk around my garden,

I going to start with my front garden,  the picture above is the Bleeding Heart,  and then we have the bluebells,  Japanese’s willow tree,  and my Red Robin Bush.

 Japanese willow

Red Robin Bush

Now let’s go around my back garden

Aubrieta
Flame of the forest
Bluebells
This has flowered all winter,  it’s supposed to be a summer plant that seeded itself,  hoping more have seeded themselves as they give a lovely colourful border,  unfortunately I don’t know its name,  it originally was from a seed pod I collected while in Weymouth
 More pink bluebells

 Grape Hyacinth

Forsythia

Well that’s all that’s in flower at the moment,  hope to give you another walk sometime in the summer months
Hope you are enjoying Easter

CD Sunday challenge - anything goes #156

 Hi,

Next weekend is Easter already half way through  April,  as I sit scheduling this post the sun is shinning,  and it’s quite warm,  would be warmer if the wind dropped,  at least it’s not raining,  might be when you are reading this.  For this challenge this fortnight Meg is stepping in for Carol as the host,

For my card this fortnight I have used images and backing papers from Sketch book collection chapter five British wildlife CD by Pollyanna Pickering.  I used a stepper card shape from Kathy Sue,  covered the card with the backing paper,  added the hedgehog images to silver card,  and cut a border from the meadow border die  by Craft Essentials. .

CD Sunday Plus challenge has a Facebook page for those who would like to enter the challenge and do not have a blog,   here is a link to the page the challenge and do not have a blog,

I hope you will visit the CD Sunday Plus Challenge site, and remember if you want to enter the challenge you must use something from a CD, USB or digital material no matter how small and let us know where and what you used the material from,   and that it is a card or a project.    Here is a link to CD Sunday Plus Challenge blog  we would be pleased to see you.

Happy international tatting day and Mushaan DAL 2025 Challenge

 Hi,

Yes it might be Aprils fools day but it’s international tatting day,  around the world tatters like me are celebrating our day tatting and eating chocolate,  they do go together, plus we like to go and tat in public,  something I do quite often.  Last year I was in a waiting room in the hospital waiting for Vernon and this old lady passed me and said oh it’s the tatting lady,   She wanted to stop and watch me tat but unfortunately for her,  her transport arrived no doubt she will see me again and want to watch.  I have no idea when she has seen me before but it’s nice to have someone stop and ask what I am doing and take an interest.

But unfortunately I am ill and will not be going out to tat in public and eating chocolate well I might just have a square or two,  I was not well enough to go and put flowers on mothers grave yesterday for Mother’s Day,  I have to go and see the GP again this week,  I just hope they can get me better soon.

This is the first part of Mushaan’s DAL 2025 challenge.  I have not finished,  but I will show you more as and when I have done some more,  the picture shows the first two rounds and the challenge is to do more and design as many rows as you want

Have a wonderful day and enjoy tatting where ever you are in world.

CD Sunday challenge - anything goes #155

 Hi,

Spring seems to be in the air as I write this post for CD Sunday challenge,  March has come in like a lamb but no doubt it will go out like a lion,  the host for this fortnight is Jocelyn

For my card this fortnight I used a download from Debbi Moore called Gnome Side Scene dimensional kit,  I really enjoyed making this card,  there are a lot of little extras you can add to this scene,  I chose a few but not all of them,

CD Sunday Plus challenge has a Facebook page for those who would like to enter the challenge and do not have a blog,   here is a link to the page the challenge and do not have a blog,

Happy St Patrick’s Day and Onion Leaf clover Pattern

 Hi

I wish all my Irish followers a very happy St Patrick’s day

Last year this was my clover leaf pattern and to remind you here is a copy of last years post that went with the picture

I made this tatted clover leaf,  it’s my own pattern I threw together,   I am calling it an Onion Ring clover leaf,  it’s in development as you could say,  needs a few finishing touches perhaps a few more stitches to make it bigger,   but for today it will do.   It’s onion ring leaves and a spiral chain for the stalk.  I  used Lizbeth no 20 thread in Christmas green mix,  I am running out of dark green,  so I used this varigated thread instead.  I will write my pattern out at some point

Here is this years clover leaf,  yes I have made it bigger and added a Josephine knot on the tips of the clover leafs.  I promised to write out the pattern  ( only taken a year,  better late than never)  again I used Lizbeth thread no 20 in Christmas green mix.

No 1 which is the picture at the top of the page

Onion ring leaf pattern no one

Ring 5 - 5

Row 1,  10 + (attach to the picot at the top of the ring).  vsp  19

Row 2    15 + (again attach to the top of the last row). vsp  15

Row 3    20 +  as before  p 20

*** vsp chain  4 and then do the pattern again for the next onion leaf ,  then chain 4 join at the base of the chain and Repeat the onion leaf again making three onion leaves **

Stalk  is a spiral chain to whatever length you want.

Onion leaf pattern no two

The pattern is more less the same

Ring 1  7 - 7

Row 1  12 + (attach to p on the top of the ring) vsp 12

Row2    17 + (  attach to p on the top of the chain) vsp 17

Row  3    22 + ( attach to p on the top of the chain ) JR 8 22

Repeat ** to **

Stalk is a spiral chain again to what ever length you want

Sorry I am no good at doing diagrams,  but I am sure you can make it with these directions

Abbreviations

vsp -  very small picot

-         -  picot

+         -  join

JR       -  Josephine knot

Enjoy the pattern

CD Sunday Challenge - anything goes #154

 Hi,

Gosh it time for another challenge at CD Sunday,  this year is starting to fly,  March already and it still feels like January,  where did February go,  this fortnight I am hosting the challenge

For my card this fortnight I decided to go round,  the card is from stock and I cannot remember where I brought it from,  I used the backing paper and matching flower fairy image from the Flower Fairies Friends CD disc one by Crafters Companions.  I decoupaged the image on several layers and made a pink bow to go with it.

CD Sunday Plus challenge has a Facebook page for those who would like to enter the challenge and do not have a blog,   here is a link to the page the challenge and do not have a blog,

 Hi,

Times for another challenge at the CD Sunday challenge blog,  this fortnight it is Jo who will be hosting the challenge

For my card this fortnight,  I thought I would do a DL card,  I used Jayne Netley Mayhew collection CD by Joanna Sheen,  I used the matching backing sheet with the elephant image,  each elephant image was matted onto silver card and the card was finished off with silver corner peel offs.

CD Sunday Plus challenge has a Facebook page for those who would like to enter the challenge and do not have a blog,   here is a link to the page the challenge and do not have a blog,

CD Sunday challenge - anything goes #152

 Hi,

Another fortnight and another challenge from CD Sunday,  this fortnight the challenge is hosted by Meg

My card this fortnight is an image from Opulence by design,  this is a Facebook designer group but they also have a web site,  I matted the image onto Hunkydory gold Miri board,  I used a sheet of hunkydory scorable card with a gold design on it.  I also used in gold  x-cut butterfly die,  cut in green and gold small floral spray by Apple Blossom  added some pearls and a rich yellow bow.  The photo does not do this card justice as the gold is to shiny.

CD Sunday Plus challenge has a Facebook page for those who would like to enter the challenge and do not have a blog,   here is a link to the page the challenge and do not have a blog,

Happy Valentine’s Day

Hi,

Happy Valentine’s Day,  it’s a cold day,  and has been been very cold all week,  with no sign of the sun,

This heart pattern has been sitting on my to do list for a while,  so what better time to take a few minutes to tat it for Valentine’s Day,   I used Lizbeth thread no 20 Christmas red.   The pattern is called accidental heart  and is a pattern adaptation by Natalie Rogers.  The original pattern can be found in Priscilla Yoke Book by Georgette Batt

I hope you have a lovely love day with whoever,

2024 TTAL - temperature tat along part 16

 Hi,

Today is another cold day and at present we have sleet / rain,  yesterday we had fog all day and very cold.

Yesterday I finished the last square for December,  I will have to do a few squares for January which is fin as I started last year in mid January,  I also missed a day in May silly me did 30 days instead of 31.

So to finish the strip I will be doing the first few days of January,   I still have the year to tat on and finish sewing in some ends.  And then do a border.

I was asked and I did reply on the last post about the beads,  the beads have letters on and represent things during the year such as birthdays,  wedding anniversary,  holidays,  Easter and Christmas,

Hope you are having a lovely day

CD Sunday challenge - anything goes #151

 Hi,

It’s time for another challenge at CD Sunday challenge,  this fortnight Pamela is the host.

For my card this fortnight,  I used a free download from craftsuprint.com,  I used a backing sheet from stock,  and put the image of the cat, which I decoupaged with several layers,  I used peel offs in gold around the image and then the same corners on the white part of the card,  matching them up with those around the image.  The sentiment came with the image which I thought I was very apt, “hope your day is purrtfect”

CD Sunday challenge - anything goes #150

 Hi,

Time for another challenge our second of the year,  and as usual it’s anything goes,  the host this fortnight is Carol

For my card this fortnight I used Sketch Book Collection Chapter V British Wildlife by Pollyanna Pickering,  I made a simple card with the matching background paper to the image, matted the image on silver card, and used a strip of paper border that came with the image across the card.

CD Sunday Plus challenge has a Facebook page for those who would like to enter the challenge and do not have a blog,   here is a link to the page the challenge and do not have a blog,

Meet Lil’Melly

 Hi,

Meet Lil’Melly unfortunately I did not enjoy knitting Lil’Melly that’s the name of the pattern by Amanda Berry Toy Collection.  It might be me but it seem to take me ages to do the pattern,   Usually I love knitting toys and I wanted to try this pattern mainly because it was an elephant,  I love elephants and as you know  I do knit a lot of them in various ways,  from football  elephants  to pretty girls with  girly outfits,  but this elephant and me did not hit it off. I did add a piece over the top of the head to make it look more Indian with some gold stitching,  but in the photo below the stitching is not showing up,  there’s also another photo showing a side view

This is one pattern that just won’t be done again.  I am glad it was a free pattern

Its very cold here and over the week we have had a fair amount of snow,  hope you are staying warm and safe in this cold snap

2024 TTAl - temperature tat along part 15

 Hi,

From a very snowy Somerset,  it’s very cold and it’s been minus temperatures at night for nearly a week,

At last I have finished November,  we had some very low temperatures in November,  it’s definitely been moving into colder colours as the month  of November progressed.  I have 31 more squares to do to finish the year,  to finish a line and make it more square I might have to do a few extra into January,  I will see how the 31 square pan out.

Stay safe and warm
