MargaretTime for another challenge at CD Sunday, as I write this the lovely autumn weather has all but gone, the trees are almost bear of the autumn colour leaves and it’s starting to get colder, winter looks like it is almost here. I am the host for this fortnight,
For my card, I used Art Deco Enchantment CD by Debbi Moore, for the image and backing papers, I decoupaged the image matted it onto gold card by Hunkydory, I added a spray of Chateau red roses by Debbi Moore from the match it range and a red feather and red ribbon from stash.

Today is my husband’s birthday, he’s got a busy day ahead of him as we are going to meet his sister half way in Devizes for a meal, tomorrow is his other cataract op.
Tomorrow he has his cataract operation on his other eye, at least it will be all over by Christmas, four weeks of timed drops, no hoovering, bending, lifting, carrying, or driving, please can we have good weather and no snow I am not a snow driver, I will be worn out by the end of four weeks looking after him.
I used Debbi Moore’s gnomes side scene dimensional kit, I love this kit it has something for everything, and I hope he likes his card.
Margaret
Time for another challenge at CD Sunday challenge blog, the host this fortnight is Jo.
My card this fortnight is a free download from Craftsuprint. I used the kit to make this card, decoupling the wellie boots into three layers, and adding a green check handmade bow down the side. This card maybe used as a birthday card, at the moment I am undecided. It’s a lovely image for a male who is interested in gardening.

This weekend has been sunshine and heavy showers, yes we need the rain, and it’s mild for the beginning of November , so I suppose we must not moan.
Today I thought you might like to see some crochet I have been doing, the original pattern is from asli-ime on instagram, She does an advanced stitch for me, which I am still practicing, I might get the hang of it one day, in the meantime, I liked the idea so I have done the stitches I know in making these. Here is a close up
These are more of a flower with six beads in the middle, again I am still practicing the stitch she used, so I made the flowers from stitches I know, another chain for the hanging loop and the head put at the bottom of the chain. Here is a close up
I have enjoyed making these, we were supposed to be at craft fair today but we cancelled at the time Vernon had just had his cataract op and I am exhausted, I have a couple of weeks before he now has the other eye done, so I am catching up and having a quick rest before he is unable to do anything. Who would have thought that there would be so much to an eye cataract operation, he won’t be able to lift, bend, drive, carry, even the kettle is too heavy or hoover. The timed drops meant I was clock watching all day, for four weeks, at least it will be all over by Christmas.
They say key ring hangers but really you could hang them anywhere
If you want to see more of her wonderful crochet asli-ime, she is on YouTube channel knitting my hobby.
Hope you are having a lovely weekend

Time for another challenge at CD Sunday, this fortnight the host is Meg,
For my card this fortnight I used Magical Christmas moments CD by Cupcake crafting, I love this image to me it feels like Christmas, I used the backing paper that went with the image, and matted both the images on blue card, I die cut some winter trees from the creative Expressions Festive Collection, in silver glitter card, I made a spray of them on the inside with a blue feather and matching ribbon, something different which I hoped would work, and made a matching blue bow adding some blue gems .

On Monday we went to the Royal United hospital in Bath, waiting for the bus that never came, I took these beautiful pictures of the trees in the Park and ride odd down Bath.
It was a grey misty day, quite cold, we got even colder waiting 40 minutes in a drafty bus shelter, that really was as uncomfortable as could possibly be. Looking at this wonderful display of autumn colours, silent, golden even without the sun, sums up autumn in one word, golden.
I’m not an autumn person, I prefer spring, but when autumn shows us the gold, reds, bronze and sun kissed colours, then it a lovely sight. Of course no doubt soon the rain and the wind will return and this colour will be lost for another year. Let’s just enjoy the mellow weather and look at the wonderful range of autumn colours while we still have it unspoilt
Hope you have a lovely day where ever you are in the world
Margaret.
At the time of writing this post the weather today is beautiful, really lovely sunny day, here in Somerset, so by the time this is published it could be anything but lovely day. The host this fortnight is Pamela
For this fortnights challenge, my card is a free download from Craftsuprint. I used the whole kit only adding a red hand made bow to one side. I decoupaged the Robin and poinsettia flowers at the top of the card.

Happy world card making day, I thought I would show you a card I made a couple of days ago, not had time to do any crafting so far today,
This is from a new kit Joyful Giraffes kit by Debbi Moore, I love these giraffes and I have some more cut out to make, they are so cheerful.
Today the weather is bad, high winds, strong storm showers with a bit of sunshine in between, during the night the wind and rain were really bad, Scotland is getting the worse of it, it’s been bad here I would nit want to be in Scotland,
Have a lovely weekend and have a lovely day crafting,
Margaret
It’s a beautiful day here in Somerset, I have been catching up on some jobs in the garden that I can manage at the moment, Vernon has had a cataract op, and is not allowed to bend, garden, hoover, lift, carry anything heavier than the kettle, and having 7 timed drops a day, so everything is on me, not easy when he’s my career,
The top picture is a bookmark called Onion Ring Bookmark by Robin Perfetti, I love Robins patterns she designs them to be so easy. I also like doing onion rings. This one I made using Lizbeth Blue River Glades in no 40, this was some thread I won from Wanda years ago.
This bookmark also the same pattern I was tatting on the coach holiday we did to Austria in August, I did also do a hanky edging but I have not sewn it on the hanky yet, will show you when finished, I tatted 30 inches on the coach, plus I made a butterfly for Sue the hostess on the coach, The gold coach has a hostess who makes tea, coffee and anything else the passengers need on the holiday, she looked after us very well, in fact everyone on the coach was so helpful, not had so much help from strangers before.
I used Lizbeth Pink Parade and leaf green together, no 20.
I have photos of Austria to show you but I am still working on that, not easy at the moment to find the time looking after hubby.

Hi,
We had a baby due in the family, so I used my challenge card for this fortnight’s challenge making a card for the new baby, we are now great Aunt and great uncle to a baby girl and her name is Matilda Ivy. The host this fortnight is Carol, nice to see you back Carol and you have recovered from your illness.
It’s not often that art is given to a Facebook group by one of its members to download, this particular member Jo Kryptakitty Lovatt from Annie’s Craft Haven (world wide), kindly gave some wonderful art work for us to use, this was one of the beautiful images and I felt it was just right for a baby card, I used a piece of scorable Hunkydory card in pale pink, matted the image onto pink card and the pink lace border down the side I found in stash, it was a free gift from crafts beautiful magazine, I have no idea idea when, but I have not brought the magazine for many years. I added a silver cradle and words in peel offs, and made a pink ribbon bow.

We went to Austria in August by coach, Vernon is fed up with flying and all the hassle so we thought we would try a coach holiday, it was wonderful.
The one thing Austria is known for is its cakes and my diet went straight out of the window, did I care no I’m on holiday, but they were nice and the little restaurant a few yards from the hotel had the best ice cream and cakes.
Now I am going to make your mouth water.
This was to die for, honestly it was out of this world, The strawberries were delicious
At last it’s finished, I finished tatting the edging just before we went holiday in August, it then lay on the coffee table before I washed it, blocked it and now here it is finished, it’s been a labour of love not, I got so fed up with it, and with other things that needed doing plus being ill for seven months, the edging just dragged on and on, I did two rows of edging, now looking at it I think I should have made it a big bigger, but don’t suggest I unpick it because it’s not happening,
What will I do with it now, well I really don’t know the size is 21 and half inches by 19 inches, or 54 cms by 48 cms approx. I brought some beads from Etsy with 2024 which I put in the middle, I took weeks before deciding where to put them, but they are in the centre, the edging is the two blue squares in the middle. Thus adding the blues bringing them into the cloth more . There are beads for everything we did in 2024, including birthday, anniversary, holidays and of course Christmas and Easter. Will I ever do another one, it’s not on the cards, perhaps in years to come I just might, but I have no plans to do it again.
Have a lovely weekend

Hi,
Time for another challenge at CD Sunday, and this fortnight Jocelyn is the host
For my card this fortnight, I used a blue pastel sheet of card from stock, which I think might be Hunkydory, the image is by Opulence by design, called Secrets of the Sea kit, they are really beautiful designs and art work. I matted the image onto blue card again from stash, I added some die cut leaves in sea colours and added some blue fish peel offs to look like the are swimming in the sea grass, I added a mermaid and various sea peel offs.

Hi,
Another fortnight has flown by, today we are due back off holiday, so this post was scheduled before I went off to Europe, the host this fortnight is me.
For my card this fortnight I made a plain, simple CAS card, using Robert Addams roses CD for the red roses image. I matted the image onto silver card, decoupaged the rose, added a hand made red bow and words in peel offs.

I have scheduled this post as I am away, this pattern of a tatted Dancer by Frivolite Con Sabor, as soon as I saw the pattern I knew I wanted to tat it.
This pattern reminds me of the Spanish dancers, which do the Flamenco dancing, I learnt some Flamenco dancing when I was a child visiting Spain, My mother was a travel agent, I travelled thousands and thousands of miles all over Europe, visited places that many tourist never get to see or even know existed.
This one I used the Christmas red and white Lizbeth thread in no 20
I hope to make some more, possibly a blue one but in the meantime I am doing a few other bits, I love this pattern and I know I will be making more.
Margaret
These two pictures were entered in a competition on Facebook, they are downloads from Debbi Moore Gomes Side Scene Dimensional kit,
The top one is a gnome on the beach with a bucket and spade.
When I was printing out the top card, the printer decided that it did not want to print the card I also wanted and printed out the one below, so as not to waste card, I made both cards and entered them.
He is a gnome fishing on the beach, either way they are both related to summer, I hope you like them, I do love this Gnome kit, and so far I have made four from it, still a few more designs in the kit.
Have a lovely weekend.

Time for another challenge at CD Sunday, for this fortnight Jo is the host,
For my card I used a backing paper and matching image from the Enchanted dreams CD by Joanna Sheen, I matted tge images onto silver Hunkydory Miri card, I made a spray of a blue and white feathers, silver ribbon, and a flower die with green foliage, added Hunkydory diamond sparkles in blue and a hand made silver ribbon bow.

Today is our wedding Anniversary, we have been married 23 years today,
This is the card I made Vernon, I embossed the red card and I can’t remember the name of the embossing folder I think it might be a cutter bug one, added a spray of red ribbon roses, red feather and rose leaves, and spotted red ribbon, and added happy anniversary in peel offs. A simple card so I hope he will like it.
Tonight we are having a Chinese meal.

Hi,
No pictures today as a mark of respect, today 80 years ago Japan surrendered marking the end of World War Two, I know that many of those fighting the Japanese did not come home for many months after they surrendered.
My mother was a Japanese POW, I have no idea when she finally arrived back in the U.K., she never talked about it and only rarely, she was a nursing sister assigned to the Royal Navy, the ship she was on was torpedoed and she was captured by the Japanese, she spent two and half years in a POW camp.
At different times in my life things were revelled, like when I was five and in Italy we were walking down the street in Rimini, when a strange man was shouting Bubbles, we turned around and there she was talking to him, it turned out that was her nickname in the Royal Navy, and he was on board one of the ships she was on.
Several times throughout my life she was recognised, did she remember them not sure but when there’s three thousand men on one ship, she could not remember all of them, even if they remembered her.
I remember moving into a new house, I was unloading the car and a voice said “never thought I would see you again”. My reaction was who are you, he was talking to mother, they talked about different things that happen, he said if she thought the men needed exercise she would match them around the deck even in a force nine gale. He then set her a challenge to march the young boys working on the site, to see if she could get them marching, challenge excepted, by the time they reach the end she had them all in step, marching.
I did try to find her war record, unfortunately I failed, without her service number and what camp she ended up in, there’s no where left to find her record, I was told one day something might pop up well so far nothing, I was told that when they went into camps the records of those POWs in them was destroyed by the Japanese
Mother died in 2014, but I have the memories of life that the Japanese ruined, I remember one Christmas I was not very old I was unwrapping a Christmas present and she saw written on the box made in Japan, the box was taken out of my hand and thrown in the dustbin. Nothing that was made in Japan was allowed in the house, she would not buy anything made in Japan, Over the years she did sort of accept items only because it was not made anywhere else. Her injuries yes she had a lot, she had to have a new hip, it was pinned in Japan during the war, I took into the hospital, along came a junior doctor, Japanese doctor, she was in so much pain, I thought she was going to walk out, but she stayed sitting, after the operation in recovery, she must have heard his voice, Whatever she said he got a mouthful, a few days later I was asked does your mother not like the Japanese, the nurse had an answer she was not expecting. After that he would come to bed, she would pretend to be asleep, he would bow to the bed, she used to say if I could lift my leg he would get it. A few years before she died she moved and had a new doctor, he was taking her blood pressure and saw some marks on her arm, he asked who did this, looking at me, she said nothing so I told him much to her disgust, they are Japanese war wounds.
Mother like thousands of POWs never spoke much about their time in the Japanese camps, it was certainly not a bed of roses, today people say we should forgive and forget, it’s not hard to forget when you grow up with a disabled mother, she suffered a lot, and my life suffered to in many ways.
We should never forget the past and hopefully learn from it,
Margaret
Today as I write this post we are having a heatwave, it’s going up to 32c according to the weather forecast, in our climate of damp air, it’s sticky, exhausting and energy sapping.
They have a day for everything these days, I recently found out that there’s day for Granny Squares, its actually tomorrow but I have a post for tomorrow so I am doing this a day early, I don’t like doing more than one post per day,
The picture above I have shown before this is a blanket I made in the lockdowns, I learnt or rather started to learn crochet in lockdown, I used up lots of wool I had, as a knitter I an always one seem to be buying wool especially if I like the colour and then there’s always left overs, so granny squares is idea.
I thought I would make another blanket, in granny squares and I found a bag with some in, now don’t ask the name of the pattern, no idea, so there’s some different bits of patterns in the bag, so all I have to do is find the pattern and make some more, easy we will see.
If and when I start or rather finish the blanket I will post it, please don’t hold your breath.
Margaret
Here we are at the beginning of August, this year is going fast, As usual our challenge this fortnight is anything goes, the host this fortnight is Meg,

While away, I sat and did 7 cards, I did the backing papers and images, I could not take everything with me, the flowers ribbons and any other embellishments, but I got the basic design work done over two afternoons, I surprised myself on how much I did including buying some more card stock and using a few to make a couple more cards.
Above is one of the art deco cards I made, using Debbi Moore’s Romance CD, for the backing paper and left over images from another card, matted them onto Hunkydory gold Miri card, I added at home blue silk flower’s, a blue and white feather and silvery blue ribbon, using size 8 x 8 card.
This is another art deco card, also started while I was away, a small one 6 x 6 again using the same CD, this was a left over image which I matted onto Hunkydory gold Miri card, and added a simple hand made gold bow.
Margaret
This little pattern was from Victats, for the 4th July tat along, It was over three days, I started it before I went away and then finished it while away.
It’s a simple free pattern as a firecracker, but when I got to the end, I decided to finish it off as a small bookmark, on my craft table stall small bookmarks seem to go down well, I plan to make some more different colours. I did post this on my Instagram account and I had a suggestion of putting green instead of the white it would look like a rose. I am sure it would look like a rose but it’s an idea I will explore.
Check out her blog for the pattern here is Link
Margaret
Another fortnight has gone by and we are now in the middle of July, time it flying fast this year, the host this fortnight is Pamela
For my card this fortnight is been made up from a lot of different CDs, the image was from the Royal Horticultural Society CD by Joanna Sheen, the sentiment is from the Flower Patch CD by Debbi Moore, the image is matted onto gold Miri card by Hunkydory, the backing papers, is made from left overs I had in a box which just keeps all the left over bits from different challenges, working out which CD they all came from would be a job in itself. I made an added a pink bow.

Hi,
As I write this post, it’s a little cooler today after the heatwave we have had, I have been suffering a lot with the heat and this illness, I had a CT scan and waiting for the results plus the results of the biopsy taken when I had the camera down. I hope everyone enjoyed the heatwave and hopefully there is more summer to come, I hope that was not it and there’s more good weather to enjoy, This is my birthday weekend and we are going away for a few days, this fortnight the host is Jocelyn
For my card this fortnight I used a backing paper from Enchanted Dreams CD by Joanna Sheen, a sheet from Hunkydory scorable designer pack called Northern Lights, the X cut winter village die, Creative Expressions Festive Collection Trees, the trees were cut from a piece of the northern lights card that was left over. I added some silver glitter and some glitter to the trees and scene, and a peel off happy Christmas

I am late posting this but last Sunday on Facebook the lace markers around the world had an international lace day, I did manger a small piece of tatting, it’s was a very hot day part of the heat wave we have had in the U.K.,
The heat has really played me up this year, perhaps because I am ill but I have travelled and been in heatwaves very much hotter and it’s never worn me out, The last one was in Turkey with 40 to 45c plus and 39c at night of course the heat is different in Europe to what we have in the U.K., this heatwave has totally washed out for a few days,
Anyway here is my little piece of tatting! It’s a pattern from the Endrucks project that we have been working on, the rose was reworked E42 by Daniela Galli, I used Lizbeth thread no 20. Some that we left on my shuttle.
I am going to make some more roses and try the larger rose pattern.I hope you have been enjoying the lovely weather even if it has been very hot.
Margaret
At the time of writing this post, the sun is shining but it’s a bit windy, at least today is dry after a few days of rain. This fortnight as usual it’s anything goes, and the host this fortnight is Jocelyn.
For my card this fortnight I used a download from Debbi Moore dating back to September 2020, I used the matching background and image with th optional extras of the words. The peel off fish and mermaid were from stash. I matted the image and wording onto blue Miri card from Hunkydory.

It’s a beautiful day here in Somerset, the sun is shining and my bedding is drying, after the heavy rain showers we had yesterday afternoon and evening, I know my garden needed the rain but it’s making the weeds grow faster at the moment. Hopefully I can feel well enough to do some weeding this week.
This is an art deco card I finished this week, although it did sit on my desk for over a week, I was in hospital for a few hours during the week, they have found some thing wrong and I am waiting fir tge results of the many biopsy’s that were taken, I am back in hospital this week for a CT scan
Back to my card, it’s using up some pieces left form the art deco cards I made a few weeks ago using Debbi Moore Art deco Romance CD, I added a red bow to the side, the images were all matted onto gold Hunkydory Miri card,
Have a lovely weekend
Margaret
June already nearly half way through the year, as usual it’s time for CD Sunday Challenge and this fortnight I am hosting
My card I made for this challenge, is a little different, I used Flower Fairies Friends CD by Crafter Companion, instead of stacking the images I placed them on silver card in a sort of circle, cutting the silver card around them. I used the backing paper that went with the images, the embellishments that were with the images I used cutting them and then placing them on a lilac colour feather, added one of the butterflies and put silver ribbon down the side.
