New Tatted Earrings and Pendants 4/25

Hi,
Today is the 60th Anniversary of the Coronation of the Queen,   she's been on the throne 60 years,  well I was not around to see it, but I have seen pictures of it,  I did a card for the CD Sunday Challenge in April for the challenge Majesty  and used the coronation as my card.  link to the card
Its a lovely day here in Somerset, although we have had more cloud for the second day in a row its warm,  is this summer at last well I do hope so,   sick of wind, rain cold, dull and dark days.

These earrings are something new I am  trying and I am very pleased with them,  this is the two layer tatted flower by Jennifer Williams,  I used white lizbeth and pink coats thread both no 20. I put seed beads around the outside of the flower.  The close up did not come up as clear as I would have liked so I hope you can see the two layers OK.



This pendant was made with the variation number two of the two layer tatted flower and I put a heart shape charm in the middle,  although small I really did like this flower I put seed beads on the outside of the top and second layer and one on each petal on the inner layer.  Next time I will make it a bit bigger and perhaps add a couple more layers to the outside.  This is the same thread Lizbeth white no 20.

Now for this pendant again its the coats pink no 20,  but I did a variation of Mary Butterfly which I have done before and added a gold bird charm in the middle.

Having a blue moment, 2/25 Motif challenge

Hi,
What a horrible day,  its been raining all day with high winds and it looks set to rain for the next few days, the floods will back soon at this rate, Where is spring certainly not looking like its going to appear for a while yet. Not that parts of Somerset have got rid of the flood water, yes it still flooded on the Somerset levels and has been since before Christmas,  farmers are worried  their fields now are so bad and the grass being so ruined it will takes years for the grass to get back to normal.  In the meantime their livestock are suffering,  and some farmers have sold some of the animals to pay to feed the rest of the livestock. There seems no end in sight,  with this horrible weather with snow in the north and rain down here the UK is not having a good time weather wise.
This is what I tatted while waiting for Vernon last friday in the Royal United Hospital,  they said an hour and half,  I sat in the the cafe and finished the bookmark,(Floral Bookmark by Kersti) (the tail I did at home)   I then had a walk around the wall art (another post in a couple of days with photos I took)  I then went back to the waiting room to wait for him, I made two butterflies (Mary Knoiors pattern) they take me just under an hour to tat,  I have done so many I know the pattern off by heart,   and then to finish up the thread I had left on my shuttles two mini butterflies.  .


I did these three hearts the other day,   two small tatted hearts by Betsy Evans and the larger one is butterfly heart by Irene Woo
All were tatted in Lizbeth no 20 Peacock Blues.

To finish up the thread on the shuttles I made again the Butterfly Heart by Irene Woo and a mini butterfly, this is Lizbeth thread No 20 Sea Island Citrus, now I have re-wind the shuttles with continuous thread so I can start the tat along mat and get my head back on finishing the row I messed up on.

Playing with Mary's Butterfly

Do you remember Mary's butterfly, pictured here in various colours well I have been playing with the pattern, I thought it would make a nice pendant.
So I stated to play yes I could tat a round without beads then I thought I would try some pearls, but the pearls proved to be very heavy, so I thought I would try a lighter bead..............


Close up with the pearls, I still think it looks lovely but its very heavy in weight.

This is the lighter bead, only its went a bit wobbly, I think I made a loop too big somewhere, the piece looks OK and worked out how I thought it would, yes OK a bit wobbly but I am still not happy with it, so I will be playing with it a bit more, I think the idea works just getting the right beads.

I still think the pearls make a better looking pendant perhaps every other ring with a pearl would take some of the weight off it. What do you think?

The thread I used for both was Lizbeth no 20 in white and Grape Pizzaz.

Any ideas will be gratefully received.

Just one last thing I found that Janette left a late comment with the guess on the TIAS so I will be making one for her, I have your address Janette but what colour would you like.

This gorgeous butterfly is her own pattern and is made up of all rings, its quick and easy to do and looks well as I say gorgeous I have done a few now in various colours.
