Decembers Pinterest Challenge - A choir of Angels 24/25 Motif Challenge

Hi,

For my December Pinterest challenge I went for angels they are very popular this year more so than snowflakes.
I used three patterns off Pinterest to make the choir, the top three are Sharren's Angel from Tatting with Sharren blogspot, I followed the link to her blog for the pattern here is a link to her blog.
Next I used two angels off a pattern sheet that was posted on pinterest,  they are on a blue sheet of paper no page numbers and look like workings out for the pattern,  the numbers are faint but I managed to work out the patterns.  At the bottom of the sheet it has Patrieia Pirocca 14.4.24,  I take it she designed them, I hope I got her name correct as its a bit faint on the sheet,  the third angel on the sheet does not really work out, so I left that out.
I think all three patterns look good together and are all worthy of being in the choir,  they dont take much thread  and would be good patterns to use up thread on a shuttle.  I used white Lizbeth no 20 thread.

Snowflakes 23/25 Motif challenge

Hi,
After a night a gale force winds and rain,  at least the wind has dropped,  its still cloudy and fairly mild.   Up north they have taken a battering with the winds, especially in Scotland,  with the first snow of the winter.
Today I thought I would show you the snowflakes I have been making from the new book its from the 20 to make series Tatted Snowflakes,  by Jennifer Williams.    I have enjoyed this book although I have only made a few so far,  the patterns are easy to read and diagrams are easy to read.  All the snowflakes have girls names which is nice.

This is the first snowflake in the book called Alison

 This is Catrin and is done in two half and then put together, as a Celtic design.    I did like this one the on the right is plain white and the on the right is red and white,  I have had a red moment recently as you we will see in a future post.

 This is Ruth,  again I tried the pattern with red and white,  I thought I had done it all white but I cant find that one, so perhaps I did not.

 This is Lynn  she is made with a ring,  I do like this design although I did the covering of the ring another way rather than the way in the book, I used Jon Yusoff from Tat-a-Renda Blog,  her way of doing the ring is much easier,  I then did the second row and joined to picots from the ring round.   I also did this snowflake as below with gold seed beads instead of the picots.

All the above snowflakes were made with Lizbeth thread no 20 in white and red.
Many of these snowflakes could be used as pendants,   and on page 40 there is a design for a pendant and earrings,  which I hope to make in the future.  As I said I did enjoy this book and a good book for the tatting library.

Tatted Ribbon Candy Christmas Trees 22/25 Motif Challenge

Hi,
This scheduled post,  although these pictures are not the best and I tried hard to hang the trees up so the Chinese glass Bicones caught the light,
This pattern is by Bonnie Swank 2014,  its the most easy pattern which is simply making a strip and then threading the beads though the rings at certain points,   I was not sure how this pattern would work out but I am very pleased with them,  I used Lizbeth thread no 20 in Christmas green and white in different combinations,
I put a doddad at the bottom to weight the tree. I am sorry I don't have a link for this pattern I must have got it a little while ago and it was on my to do pile.

August Pinterest Challenge updated 25 motif challenge

Hi,

As you know Suzanne and I have been doing a challenge,  if we see something on Pinterest we would like to try,  then we try and make it.    Well August proved to be a challenge,  I fell in love with these tatted dresses,   Its from Tiny Flowers, there was no pattern that I could find,  so I worked this dress out from the picture.  I had a couple of trials No 20 thread was too fine and it worked out so small so I tried a thicker thread and here is it.
 I made the coat hanger for the dress,  not the best coat hanger in the world but its OK.   I used size no 10 thread in white.  I must say it felt like tatting with string,  No 10 is thick thread and by the picture she had used a thicker thread,  the bodice is block tatting and then the skirt is rings and chains.  I then sewed a piece of netting under the skirt which helped bring the skirt out.  I made a tiny bow and sewed it on the dress.
 If anyone would like my version of the dress I have now put it on my pattern blog Link   It may not be exactly as Tiny Flowers pattern,  but I think its  near enough.
It proved a challenge so I hope you like it,   now I feel like making a few more, so watch this space.

Earrings 21/25 Motif Challenge

 Hi,
So far this morning its a lovely morning,  we were supposed to be cloudy and then rain,  well its a blue sky and a bit of high cloud,  I think they got that a bit wrong.
These are some earrings I made the other day,  new patterns which I found,  the top picture shows a free pattern from Free tatting patterns site called Riddle  link to the site.   The top two in the picture are without beads, in Springtime and black and white.
This picture shows a close up of the pattern and is in purple and white with purple and white beads. There is a pattern for a necklace which I will try.

These earrings are called Rainbow, from Frivolite a la Navette link to the site.   On this site you find a tutorial on how to make these earrings it really is a great tutorial.  I did not have the purple beads that match the other beads so I added white beads,
I am really pleased with these and plan to make more.
All these earrings were made with Lizbeth thread no 20.

Do you remember on my post about Madeira I told you about the Agapantbus which they considered weeds on Madeira and I said mine were in a pot and should flower in August well here they are flowering.  The blue is a bit darker than in the photo but they are making a great show,  You may see some what looks like dead bits,  they are not dead it was my Foxglove flowers and I left them on for the seeds to dry.

Springtime Thread 20/25 Motif Challenge

 Hi,

This looks a lot of tatting,  in some ways it is but in others not,  its a lot of small items,    I tried out the Springtime thread, by Lizbeth threads in no 20,  its a new thread to me,   I think this was one Rachel from Intatters now Craftree sent me.   The picture above has the Small Cross by Mary Konior from her Pattern Collection book, I edged this cross with white which brought out the colours.    A cross bookmark called Cross of Sevens by Robin Perfetti Tatting by the Bay blog,   and Marjorie's Angel by Martha Ess.

Here is Nellie,  I am calling her Nellie its from the book called Tatted Animals  by  Inga Madsen Page 17 Elephant. I rather like Nellie I made her eye in white with a black bead,  I plan to frame her at a later date.

This is my own pattern,  a Dream catcher and you will find the pattern on my pattern blog link in the side bar.

As you can see I made quite a few items,  the thread is colourful,  I was not sure in the beginning but now yes I do like it.  There will be more made with this thread.

Below is two cross bookmarks,   named Cross of Severn's by Robin Pertetti again the same cross in Springtime,  and Royal wave  no 20 Lizbeth thread,  I did make a white one but he's gone before I had time to photo him.

Remembrance 19/25 motif challenge

Hi,
This is the Remembrance pattern by Marilee Rockley,  this is a link to her blog.   Marilee has also made a video how to join the last ring on the ring.   Actually this is a simple pattern,   I made them in Lizbeth thread no 20 in white, purple and Springtime,  I still have to sew in the ends on the last one,
Here's my hand wearing a purple one I made for myself my fingers are larger so I added a couple more rings.  Its a selfy not easy to do so I hope the picture is OK.   I do like this pattern and something to use up thread on a shuttle too.  I plan to make some more and perhaps try adding a few beads.
On the pattern Marilee has added a saying for those who are not tatters I am putting on here for you

Holiday Tatting 18/25 motif challenge

 Hi,
I am very behind with my posting so here's what I made on Holiday in Madeira in June,  this is the Celtic Bookmark by LaRae Mikulecky 1997,   the first picture at the top is the section one in white and the second section of sections which are put in the rings of the first section they were tatted in Summer Fun.
Section three with the two sections put together you then tat this section around the bookmark which I used Purple thread,  the first picture is the wrong side and the second shows the right side.

 Section four is the final round and I have tatted this white and is just chains all around the outside.
I used Lizbeth thread no 20 throughout.

The picture below shows the bookmark close up,  I had not press it when I took these photos and some were taken on holiday and it was hard to get the right picture with different surfaces.
Its a nice pattern but it did take up a lot of time with all the different sections,

Pinterest Challenge for June, 17/25 motif challenge

Hi,
As you know Suzanne and I have been challenging each other to find something on Pinterest that we could do,
Here is my June item,  I found this pattern done as a bracelet,  actually the pattern is Kersti's Floral Tatted Bookmark,  I did not have the right size beads that would sit in the ring these are a little large for my liking but they have worked well by sitting on the ring. I used Lizbeth thread no 20 in Summer Fun.  I am pleased how the bracelet worked out all I have to do now is add the  bracelet clips.
I hope you like my item for June. I am sure Suzanne will come up with something brilliant.

A Royal Wave. 16/25 Motif challenge

Hi,
These have been made from the Lizbeth thread called Royal Wave no 20.
The top picture shows them as a group,
This pendent is a pattern from Tatting with Rings by Jon Yusoff,  the pattern is called Teratai.
The butterfly is from Mary Konior Tatting Patterns book.

 This bracelet is from a new book I brought called Shabby Chic Tatting  by Rozella F Linden,  I do like this book,   the pattern was called Ribbon and Flowers lace,  I was going to make several flowers to go on top of the flowers in the pattern giving it a 3d effect but in the end I just did the middle one.  I used gold seed beads around the last row and  a pearl in the middle on the middle flower.
There are some lovely patterns in this great book,  and there are some beginner patterns  plus a few for the more advanced tatters.

April Pinterest Challenge 15a/25 Motif challenge

 Hi
Another beautiful day her in Somerset,  and its really warm too, clear blue sky,  
As you know Suzanne and I are doing this challenge between us of finding things on Pinterest and trying out the ideas.
Well here is my April one,   I saw this bag on pinterest and I knew the pattern its actually a pattern from Tatting Patterns by Mary Knoior that has been used,   I started the bottom with a ring and then worked it round until I had the size of the bag.  It seem to take ages to reach the top of the bag and it worked out well, so well I am now making another couple.  I will post them with how I did the bags on another day.

Here is the bag closed.  I used Lizbeth thread no 20 in white and an organza bag for the inside.

Earrings to match 14/25 motif Challenge

Hi,

Do you remember this post on the 1st of April for International Tatting Day ,   well here they are the earrings I made to match the pendant although I have yet put the earring ring on yet I thought as I had nothing else at the moment I would show you these. I made the pendant from the book Tatting with Rings by Jon Yusoff,  its the first pattern called Kincir I have made from this book.  There were no earrings so I made these to match,  Using the whole ring made the earrings too big so I used half a ring with the pattern,   I used Lizbeth no 20 thread in Purple Splendor and white.

Here they are together,  I am pleased how they worked out.

Its a beautiful day here in Somerset and warm hopefully where ever you are you are enjoying the sun shine,   Vernon and I were out in the garden this morning,  nice to feel the sun and being able to top up my Vitamin D.

International Tatting Day 25 motif challenge 14/25

Hi

Happy International Tatting Day to all the tatters around the world,  I hope you have a great day tatting where ever you are.
I don't have a lot to show at the moment,  I have been very tried recently and the tablets are slowing me down.    I did make this pendant over the weekend,  Its from Tatting with Rings by Jon Yusoff,   this is the first thing I have made from this book and I really enjoyed using the plastic ring for a change.   The pattern is called Kincir and I used Lizbeth no 20 in Purple Splendor and White.   I am in the process of making a pair of earrings to go with the pendant.  which I will show when they are done,   I did make a ring at the top for the ring instead of a Josephine Knot so I could attach it to a chain more easier.

Land of Laces challenge 13/25 motif challenge

Hi,

Its very cold here its blowing a gale and raining hard with hail.  I am glad I am inside today.

Land of Laces set a challenge with a heart pattern well here's my effort,   I added a tail and made a small bookmark with it.   I used Lizbeth thread no 20 Red Burst and white.  simple because they were on my shuttles. I started the heart in a different place so that the split ring on one side could be done of the other side and therefore I could use the white chains all the way around,  I think it worked OK. link to Land of Laces blog

I am giving this heart to my hubby tomorrow,  I have been told he does not want a card so he's getting this instead.

Jewellery set and Bookmark 12/25 Motif Challenge

Hi,

Gosh it has been cold over the last few days,   I know we have to expect it, at least its been reasonably dry not like last year when it rained and rained non stop and we had the floods.   We had a few snow flakes at the beginning of the week but nothing lasted very long.

Today I have this Jewellery set I did to show you the pattern is from tatting box called Bridal Lace,  I do like this pattern,   I made a necklace, bracelet and a pair of earring, there are no earrings on the pattern but I use two repeats for the earrings.  I used Lizbeth thread Countryside no 20.

Then I made this cross from a new book I treated myself to called tatted Bookmarks cross shaped by Lene Bjorn,  I have seen a few bookmarks on other blogs and when I saw the book for sale I brought it,  I did enjoy making this cross its called Maria page 9.  I hope to make some more from this lovely book.  I used Lizbeth thread No 20 in White and Countryside.



I have started Renuleks new mat and will post when I have done a bit more.

The Peacock. 11/25 motif challenge

Hi,

Its very cold here and a cold wind from the north pole blowing,  but at least its dry, we had some snow during the week,  but it did not last, hopefully that will be all we get.  We have some forecasted for Monday and Tuesday,  hopefully it will either miss us or it wont last.

As promised here is my peacock from the book, Occhi Schiffchenspitze Frivolite, it has taken me days to find the right light to get the perfect picture.   He is tatted in no 20 Lizbeth thread called Country Side,  he was a pain, perhaps because I had flu when I was tatting him,  it made it harder.   His pattern is in German, but he learnt a whole lot of English words that are not in the English Oxford Directory.    Vernon said after I finished him that he's a one off, I don't think his ears could take much more of what I thought of the peacock,  nice as he is,   I cant see me doing him again,  I am going to frame him when I have found the right piece of card as a backing,  and then he will be finished.

Mastering Tatting Book, 10/25 Motif Challenge

Hi,

Recently I brought Mastering Tatting book by Lindsay Rogers,  I must say I have fallen in love with this book,   I have really enjoyed doing some of the patterns from it,

The Bookmark above is on Page 45 called Daisy Bookmark I did add an extra daisies to the length as I felt it was not long enough,   I used Lizbeth thread No 20 in white and  Summer fun.

These two hearts from page 67 its from part of a Doily called Love in the mist,  and are done separately and then placed around the doily.   I used Purple and white and white and summer fun all are Lizbeth thread no 20.

Both patterns were fun to tat and their will more tatting from this book in the future.  Great book well worth the money and one to have in your own library of books.

Dew Drop Pendant 9/25 motif challenge

Hi,
Its a mild but dull,   windy,  drizzly day here in Somerset,   Last night our local football team won their match in the FA football match and now they will play Manchester United on the 4th January 2015,  Its only a small ground so I wonder how they will fit in a Premier division football team into a 9,000 plus seater ground,  its great to see our little team meet up with one of the big boys.
This little pattern I made up recently and I called it Dew drop Pendant originally had flowers attached to it but them I found this lovely silver leaf in my stock and I ended up putting it in the middle,  with the blue beads on the middle ring of the clovers,  it was tatted in white lizbeth thread no 20.   The clovers decrease in size as it goes to the top point.

Here is the same little pattern again this time I placed a Tibetan silver owl in the middle.
This one is tatted in Lizbeth Purple thread no 20.
I am keeping the pattern to myself for the time being as I am not sure if I will release it or not,  I am not sure if anyone would want it.

Anyway I hope you like my Pendant, I know my grand daughter will want it as she is potty about Owls at the moment.    I hope to make a few more of these with different middles for my craft table over the next coming months.

Renulek's Summer Doily and Ninetta's cross 8/25 Motif Challenge

 Hi,
At last I have finished Renuleks Summer Doily,   I used Lizbeth thread no 20 in Red Burst (which I won from Rachel from Intatters last year) and White.  
I find the chains on the outside do bend a bit,  I took so many pictures to try and get the pattern to show up that all my work on pressing it seems to gone by the wind as it looks creased.  at least this is one project finished.  As they say onto the next,  but I have decided what it will be as I have another couple of things to finish first.

This is a pattern I really like which is from Ninetta link to her blog,  I made the two with Lizbeth thread no 20 one in white and one in Purple thread (the purple thread was another ball I won from Rachel) and then tried the same pattern with the beads, again I used the white thread with gold beads,   it came out a but wobbly.   I think its a pattern that needs a bit of practice to prefect.  I did enjoy this pattern and will be doing more.
