Knitted Tablecloth

Hi,
This is one of my knitted tablecloths,  its the first one I ever knitted and took a year,  many many years ago,  the stitches which you start with 8 and end up with 2,000,  Its very big and the best way to take a photo was to drape it over the settee,  The stitches around the edge with crocheted off but one of then little chains got caught with the bra fastening in the washing machine,   Now while in lock down I found the pattern and mended the chain.  As it had never been on my blog I thought you all might like to see it.
Its a coats pattern no 1179 and was made with coats thread no 20 and took 13 balls of cotton.  I still have some of the thread left which was a blessing as I don't know if they still make this colourway,
I have a white one but my grand daughter when she was younger made a hole in it,  while we are still in lock down I am thinking its time to get it out and unpick the cloth to where the hole is and re-knit it.  All I can is watch this space,  it will be a long job.

Robins Test tatting - Snowflakes

Hi,
It was a pleasure to test tat Robins new snowflake patterns,   I really enjoyed these patterns even though I was struggling with flu at the time,  and there were many days when I never even looked at my shuttles.
These two patterns are called Radiating clovers,  the patterns are clear with diagram and written instructions.
The top one is tatted with Lizbeth no 20 in white.
The blue one's pattern said to be tatted in size 40 to 80,  80 is impossible for my eyesight,  and having just finished the injections I had no idea if I could tat with size 40,   my stock of size 40 is very limited and I had no white so the nearest for a snowflake was this variegated blue,  its an old ball by coats colour number 168, no idea if thats the current number but thats whats on the ball.   My eyesight has improved and I tatted this snowflake without any problems,   I think I will be trying to tat with no 40 again soon.

Now for the cock up I never told Robin but this was my first attempt at her pattern,  I went sailing on, between coughing and feeling yuck,  it was all going wonderful until half way around the second round I look and found I had done seven rings in the middle and not six,   well I did finish the snowflake and to me it looks OK,  OK it has seven arms instead of six but whose counting.

Tatted Door Wreath

Hi.
On this cold and dull day,  I thought I would show you my latest piece of tatting,  it was going to be posted yesterday on a scheduled post but I never had time on saturday and we went to Oxford for the day yesterday.   It was a lovely day and Dee cooked a gorgeous meal, thanks Dee.
This door wreath pattern was first started by Lady Tats link to her blog,  it is now doing the rounds.  The pattern is done with one shuttle with red thread and one shuttle with green thread,   the top picture is my first effort,  yes it is red thread by coats, variegated red which is all I have in number 20,  the green is flora thread, I hate that thread its hard and not easy to work with,  well thats my opinion.  The Josephine rings although now I see the photo one has a loop beside it were easy enough to do only my thread looks more pink than pale red and dark red.   I was not happy so I did another one this time I put a red seed bead,   no I don't like that one either, the bead does not show up,  I have some larger beads but they might be two big, or do I use three seed beads,    I think another one is called for.
 I added the red ribbon bow which I made,  I like the bow on it and the pattern is easy enough,  I don't like the green,  I think I said that already shall I say it again I don't like the green..  So what do you think...............

Happy St Patricks Day

Happy St Patricks Day.
Today I bring you Saint Patricks Day Shamrock Earrings, these were designed by Rachel from The Piney Woods Tatter link here
Rachel designed these earrings back in 2004 and posted them again as a free pattern last week.
Rachel is a needle tatter, she makes some gorgeous items please follow the link and visit her blog its very interesting. As I am not a needle tatter, I sat down and work with the pattern into a shuttle tatting pattern, actually it was not difficult to do. Rachel has given me permission to put the shuttle pattern onto my pattern blog for you all. For those who do not do tatting, there are two ways of tatting either with a needle or a shuttle.
The top pair of earrings are in dark green Flora thread no 20, I find this thread hard to work and I don't use it very often.
This pair are in a lighter green, (although the picture looks more blue than green, it is green) Coats thread no 20, both have the same shade of green bead.
Its a lovely pattern and I can see me making quite a few of these earrings.
