Polish Doily from Craftree - Finished

Hi,

Its a beautiful weekend in the UK,  the sun is shining and its quite hot,  plus its a bank holiday.

At last I have finished this doily which Fox very kindly (not) said after she gave up that I could do it,  well yes I have done it,  it needs another blocking those chains, really do need it,  if I ever do it again I would split those long chains and join them.  Am I pleased with it well to be honest it looks better than I thought and am pleased to have finished it.
I used Lizbeth thread in white and Purple and Cordonnet pink thread all in no 20.
My message to Fox how about starting it again,  you can do it.
Have a lovely weekend

Polish Doily from Craftree Update

Hi,

Did you think I had stropped tatting this doily,  well I left it to one side when I was tatting the squares,  and I have now started again,  there's two more rows to do.
This is the ten round which I did in pink,  sorry I have some ends to sew in but the light has not been at its best to do it.  I think now there's a bit more the long chains are finally pulling out.
Hopefully the end is in sight.
Here is a link to the last blog post
Hope you are having a lovely weekend

Polish Doily from Craftree Update

Hi,

Here is the latest on the Polish doily from Craftree,   This is the ninth row completed and I used the purple lizbeth thread,   the light has been too bad to sew in the ends hopefully by the next update I will have found some good light.   Thats two rounds in each colour and I am now on the 10th round back to pink,   The chains are pulling themselves straighter now with the weight of the more rows and its looking a lot better in the shape too.   There's a little more to do I'm hoping the colour scheme will be ok.

Hope you had a lovely christmas and New Year.

Polish doily from Craftree update.

Hi,

Well here is an update on this doily,     I should have put this on last week as below is where I am now.   I started the long chains in white and this is rounds 6 and 7,  I don't like the long chains,  I have only roughly blocked this hoping when I get more rounds on it will straighten out a bit more.

Here is the latest round in purple round eight.   I was unable to sew in the ends yesterday as the light was very bad.   I really don't know if I am going to like this doily or not, time will tell,  its not my usual colouring,   sometimes you have to try something different.  again this was only roughly blocked,  I have been doing Carolyn's method of damping the doily and rolling it out with the rolling pin,  it works saves using the iron too.

What do you think?

Polish Doily from Craftree

Hi,

Just thought I would update you on the doily, as you can see I have done round four and five and this time I have used a shaded pink Cordonnet No 20,   I found this one in my draw of stock,  no idea when I brought it but it has a lovely shine on it,  and I did enjoy tatting with it.  I still have the ends to sew in but the light has not been since I got back from Sheffield.
We had good news from the hospital the fluid has gone,  the eyesight has improved and they don't want to see me for six months,   at least it will be spring when we do the journey again.  Just need to get rid of this cough and the remains of the flu.
I am now on round six,  from now on its lots of long chains.
Hope you are having a good day

Polish Doily from Craftree

Hi,
A couple of weeks ago Fox said why don't I try to tat the doily she had given up on,  well then she sent me the pattern.  After looking at the pattern I thought why not try, so here is the start,  I used Lizbeth white in the middle and second round with Lizbeth purple both no 20.
So Fox here you are the start of it,  am not sure how far I will get or how long it will take me but looking at Wendy's gorgeous doily I am hoping I can finish it.
Watch this space as they say.
This is a scheduled post as I am in Sheffield finding out if the treatment has worked.
