Pinterest Challenge by the Pin Chicks

Hi,
I have posted this challenge a day early as I have another post going on over the next two days.

This is the last pinterest challenge of the year and from now on it will be every other month,
This month to round off the year I have done the Dimpled Ring Angel by Lenore English,  I tatted her in lizbeth white no 20 thread.   Unfortunately this angel had a bit of a disaster I upset some drink over the coffee table and she was sitting on the copy I had printed out and although I managed to get her away as fast as possible but she suffered some dye from the ink off the picture on the pattern,  so shes a little blue in places.
I am not sure which ladies are doing the challenge this month so I wont put a link but I am sure if you have a look around their blogs you will find which ones have done something.
On behalf of the Pin chicks I hope you have enjoyed our challenges throughout the year and the next post will be on the 31st January,  We look forward to seeing you next year and if you would like to join in please contact one of us and we will be delighted to see you.
In the meantime Happy New Year.
                           Hugs

CD Sunday Challenge - 'Twas the night before Christmas

Hi,
This fortnight the challenge at the Cd Sunday Challenge blog is 'Twas the night before christmas by Jocelyn.
I found this charming image on the Joanna Sheens Enchanted Christmas CD 2,  (I felt it fitted the challenge well)  I used the matching backing paper and matted the image on silver card.  I made a bow and left a long length of ribbon and made a bow on the other end then twisted it and glued the bows on each end of the image.   I used the new dies cuts which I won off Facebook from Trimcraft and cut them out of green glitter card from the Works,  the holly garland and the holly leaves and placed red gems in for the berries.  Finishing off with a peel off Merry Christmas.  I kept this card flat as it will be for posting.
I hope you will not only visit the CD Sunday Challenge site,  remember if you want to enter the challenge you must use something from a CD no matter how small and let us know which CD you used.  Here is a link to CD Sunday Challenge blog  we would be pleased to see you.
I want to thank those who have sent some wonderful messages,  my husband who was rushed into Hosptial last Tuesday is now improving and maybe home midweek,  it's been a roller coaster of a week,  but you know who your friends and family are when you need them.  It's come at the wrong time of the year and I will be so happy to get him home.

I hope you are having a lovely weekend

Christmas is early

Hi,

Do you remember in July I showed you a picture of my Christmas Cactus  I had one bloom on it after I re-potted it,  here's a reminder of how he looked in July

Well look at him now full of flower,   never seen so many flowers on him and three times the size he was in July.   I think re-potting him did him good?

Have a nice day and stay warm its freezing out there.

November Pinterest challenge by the Pin Chicks - updated with photos

Hi,
I must apologise at the start that I was trying to post this last night and the laptop decided that it would not work,  so reduced to the iPad and unable to post the photos which I have already put on the laptop.  So here is my post now with photos hope you like them.
I have this month only done very small butterflies and put them together into a set of blank cards.  As I have been going to the hospital for injections in my eye tatting has not been as easy to do as usual so here is what I managed this month.  I used up many bits off my shuttles to make these butterflies.

Card number one
This is a set of Onion Ring Butterflies,  the colours used are white, purple, falling leaves, Christmas red and Green Coral Sea all in no 20 thread.  Link to the pattern

Below two close up pictures of the butterflies

Card number two
This is a set of Tat off Butterfly by the tatting player  the colours used were white, falling leaves,  Christmas red, and purple all in no 20 thread link to the pattern

Below a close up of the butterfly on the card

Card number three
This set is from a pattern which Carollyn found on Pinterest earlier this month and I asked if she would mind if I used it for my pin challenge.   Colours used were white, Niagara Falls, Christmas red and juicy watermelon.

Below a close up of the one of the butterflies

Here is a picture of the pattern.

Sorry I speak Japanese so I have no idea who designed it but as Carollyn shared the pattern on her blog I am doing the same.

All the butterflies are from pinterest and use up so little thread, and were easy to make there will be a lots more of these butterflies.  Sorry my tatting may not be prefect but I have done my best with an eye that really on some days does not want to focus.
The cards are cream card stock with a backing paper and trimmed with glittery peel offs and a spray of leaves die cuts of which Suzanne will recognise,  thanks Suzanne,   the butterflies were glued onto the cards.

Do pop over and see what the other ladies have done,   I am sure whatever it is it will be good and better than I have achieved this month.

CD Sunday Challenge - White Christmas

Hi,
This fortnight its my challenge and being so near to christmas I choose White Christmas for the CD Sunday Challenge.
For this card I used the background from Glitter and Glitz CD by Debbi Moore Art Deco Christmas CD.  and the image is from Joanna Sheens Thomas Kinkade which I decoupage and glittered,  I matted the image on silver card,  this is a new type of card that does not shed its glitter from the The Works,  I also die cut the trees from it,  they are from Creative Expressions and the Lamppost is from the new range from Polkadoodles which I added a piece of silver in the lamp,  I also cut some trees in white card and glittered them,  finishing off with a silver peel off and a red ribbon bow.  (Its a well glittered card)
I hope you will not only visit the CD Sunday Challenge site,  remember if you want to enter the challenge you must use something from a CD no matter how small and let us know which CD you used.  Here is a link to CD Sunday Challenge blog  we would be pleased to see you.

I hope you are having a lovely weekend

A little bit of tatting

 Hi,
This is a scheduled post as you read this I am having my third injection in my eye in Sheffield,    This is just a bit of tatting that I have done over the last few months,   Not a lot as they say.
Above is my spinning wheel mat, pattern by Mary Konior from the book Tatting With Visual patterns by Mary Konior,  I used Lizbeth No 20 Falling Leaves.
The cross I did on holiday back in September,   the pattern is called cross of sevens by Robin Perfetti, I used Lizbeth Green Coral Sea No 20.

And lastly this is my snowflake the 14th Day of December which is in Lizbeth no 20 white,    I doubt if I will finish this year long 24 snowflake challenge over on Craftree.  We are using the book 24 Snowflakes in Tatting by Lene Bjorn.
I have days when my eye just wont let me do much tatting.  Hopefully after these injections I might be able to get back to more tatting.

Hope you are keeping well and until we meet again take care

          Hugs

Happy Birthday Vernon

Hi,
Today is my husbands birthday,  I used a new CD which I recently brought.   This is Novembers image and I thought it was a lovely image,  the CD I used  for the image and backing paper was from A walk in the countryside by Creative Crafting.
I matted the image which I decoupaged on red glitter card and the ribbon piece from the picture I used to place the peel off words and matted that on the same red glitter card.   I finished off the card with red ribbon.
I am pleased with this card and I hope he will like it.
Its turned very cold over the last few days and there has been snow in various parts of the UK,  as we are travelling up to Sheffield again next week,  just hope the weather improves.
Until we meet again take care

CD Sunday Challenge - Sparkle and Shine

Hi,
This fortnight the Challenge over at the CD Sunday Challenge is Sparkle and Shine chosen by Wynn.
I used for the backing sheet from Glitter and Glitz by Debbi Moore Art Deco Christmas CD.   Its raining Snowflakes,   I used what can only be called poetic licence when I made this card, yes well no one knows if there's was trees near the stable,  but in my card I have put die cut trees from Creative Expressions,  and the nativity was a die set I won on Facebook from Trimcraft,  I cut all the trees and nativity out of glitter card in silver, green and black,  and used a piece of silver miri card at the bottom.   This card was hard to photo so I hope you can see the glitter and shine,
I hope you will not only visit the CD Sunday Challenge site,  remember if you want to enter the challenge you must use something from a CD no matter how small and let us know which CD you used.  Here is a link to CD Sunday Challenge blog  we would be pleased to see you.
I hope you are having a lovely weekend

Remembrance Day.

Today is a day we should never forget,  I wear my poppy with pride as both my parents were in World War Two, both have died but I still remember what they did in the war.  Hopefully one day there will be peace in the world, may not be in my lifetime but one day perhaps.

It came as a bit shock and surprise that I have been nominated for an award for my bracelet.  Its lovely to think that someone somewhere in the world likes my bracelet and could nominate me to this award,  The bracelet has been put in the new pattern category

Just remind you of my bracelet that was my Pinterest challenge item from August, I have put a picture of it underneath.

Tree Man

Hi
We pass this piece of sculpture quite often so I thought I would take a picture to show you.  There used to be a row of trees up the this house on the road leading into Midsomer Norton where we go shopping.  They cut down the row of trees and left this one at the beginning of the driveway.  Then someone really clever cut it into a shape of a man and put the jacket on him.  Now he stands at the beginning of their driveway,  it's a shame to cut trees down but I am glad they made the trunk into something for everyone to admire.
Have a nice day

October Pinterest Challenge by the Pin chicks

Hi
Gosh the end of October already, it's been a hard month for me and I never thought I would have finished this but I did and as it's Autumn I have also included some tatting which I was going to post and then thought let's put it altogether.  In fact both items are on Pinterest so it's like a double challenge.
The knitted pumpkins are from a pattern by Bobbi Lewin. It's the first pattern she has written up,  the pattern made the small pumpkin and then I thought I would make one bigger,  well after a little unpicking and re knitting this pumpkin is bigger but not quite as big as I would have liked.  I also think my green is a bit dark but its was the only green I had the other odd bit of wool was far too light.  A link for the pattern is http://bobbilewin.com and it is called Pumpkins
Now for the tatted Maple Leaf Motif,  I did enjoy making this leaf,  I have been making snowflakes and got a bit off with them so it was nice to change colour.  This pattern is by Tammy Rodgers aka GreenFuzzer and the lizbeth thread no 20 is called Falling Leaves.  I don't have a link for this pattern but I think most tatters will either have the pattern or know where to find it.

Now I know a lot of my followers will want to know how my eye is,  well I had the second injection in my eye this last week,  i felt the injection this time but the eye did not swell up so much,  I have another injection in a months time.  It was a bad week,  our journey to Sheffield was to say the least eventful with a division that we never found the end to and instead ended up on another division that also went into another division.  Well we found our way back to the road we wanted in the end.  Then on the M1 having came off for a quick stop for the loo,  and trying to get back on the motorway we got hit by a lorry.  We only had mirror damage and were able to continue our journey.  The car will be off the road for a couple of days while it's repaired.  It could have been a lot worse and we were both shaken,  it's our first accident ever.   Just hope the next time we go up at the end of November it will be a better journey.
Please do go and visit the pin chicks blogs,  I have no idea what they have done and I am sure it will be worth a visit,  here are the links
                                         Suzanne,

Until the next time we meet up

CD Sunday Challenge - Father Christmas

Hi,
This fortnight the CD Sunday Challenge is Father Christmas chosen by Meg.   I think I found a nice cheerful Father Christmas from the CD A little bit of Everything from My Craft Studio Elite.  I have had this CD for some time so its nice to use one that sits and does not get used very often.
I used the backing papers and image from the same CD,  I matted the image on red card and place a red strip of pattern shiny card down the center.
The poinsettias are from two of the team who very kindly helped me out as I did not have a poinsettia die,  thank you ladies if was very kind of you.  I put green ribbon under the poinsettias and finished the card off with gold peel off strips,
I hope you will not only visit the CD Sunday Challenge site,  remember if you want to enter the challenge you must use something from a CD no matter how small and let us know which CD you used.  Here is a link to CD Sunday Challenge blog  we would be pleased to see you.
I hope you are having a lovely weekend

Babys Party Cardigan

Hi,
I have just finished this little baby's party cardigan.  Its a vintage pattern by Poppleton.  It has rolled hems which took time to sew up but the finished result is lovely. I used a sparkly wool in very pale blue which is slightly darker than the picture (again the camera does not do the right colour why do modern cameras not take good pictures)  The wool has a sparkly thread running through it which gives it a sparkle and shine and I added sparkly buttons just to add to the sparkle,   Its size 20 inch chest,  and would give any baby a special look for a special occasion or christmas.
I am pleased with this cardigan and have put it for sale in my store.
Hope you are keeping well,  I am off to Sheffield for another injection in my eye this week.
So until we meet again take care
I see these pictures once published have come out green it is a pale blue, no idea why blogger playing silly b....

CD Sunday Challenge - Paws

Hi,

Something a little different this fortnight at the CD Sunday Challenge,  we have a sponsor Sharon Duncan Crafts,  and the prize this fortnight will be a copy of  her new CD's Playful pups.
All the DT cards have been made from this lovely new CD. There is also another prize from the CD Sunday challenge team for the runner up this fortnight.

Well here's my card for the Challenge  - Paws.
I used a round scalloped edge card for the base,  the image,  backing papers plus the sentiment with a paw holding it all came from the CD and I finished off the card with a ribbon bow.

Here's a close up of the image used.

I hope you will not only visit the CD Sunday Challenge site but enjoy the cards made from this new CD.   Remember if you want to enter the challenge you must use something from a CD no matter how small and let us know which CD you used.  Here is a link to CD Sunday Challenge blog  we would be pleased to see you.

CD Sunday Challenge - Country Living

Hi
The Cd Sunday Challenge this fortnight has been chosen by Pamela and its Country Living.
I wanted something different not sure if this has worked,
I used Joanna Sheens CD The Pamela West Collection disc number one for the backing and matching image which I matted onto blue card,  using three images at different angels,   I put a die corner spray in the corners and I made a matching blue bow to one side of the images.
I made it simple without any fussy bits and kept plain for a male card.
If you would like to join us at the CD Sunday Challenge please do so,  we would love to see you,  just use something from a CD is all we ask.  Here is a link for the CD Sunday Challenge blog
Hope you are having a lovely weekend,

September Pinterest Challenge by the Pin Chicks

Hi,
Another month already and not much to show for it,   I was on holiday for two weeks and hoping to do more tatting but it was very hot and I seem to spend time on the rubbish bookmark which might after Muskaan help turn into something.  Any way back to this challenge, oh I wish I had done this post before I went to Sheffield but I did not and now I am suffering with my eye,   I was hoping to tat a few more while I was in Sheffield that never happen either,
So here is my Button Angels (very good pattern to use up thread left on a shuttle)  the pattern is from birgitstatting.blogspot.co.uk  and is a variation of the Simple Angel by Birgit Phelps my link is very old but you could try .
They are all slight different,   I used Lizbeth thread no 20 in Green Coral Sea,  Niagara Falls and Cranberry Bush.
I was going to use some beads on some but time was not on my side.  So this is my pin for this month,

Do you remember last months Pinterest challenge,

Well this is a variation of the pattern I did last month,  this time I made the rings bigger 5+5/5+5 and the chains are the same 15 ds.

Here is a close up of the pattern which I used white and Green Coral sea.

On Craftree they found a name for the pattern  Sound Waves Bracelet. Thank you ladies on Craftree.

I have no idea what the other ladies are doing but here is the link to their blogs do pop over and see their creations,...... Suzanne,     Muskaan,   Carollyn,    Margaret 2

I hope I got that right I cant see that well,  my eye is sore, swollen and painful after having an injection into it,  and I have to go back in a months time and have another one,  there's three in all and this is just the first one,  So if you find any mistakes  my apologises.
Have a nice weekend

Full English Breakfast

Hi,

Yes this is the Full English Breakfast,  and it was a small one,   We had this on holiday in the Cockney Restaurant in Polychrono,  Halikidi in Greece,  Halikidi is at the top of Greece, it has three fingers that come into the Aegean Sea,
Are you feeling hungry well there are two sausages, one slice of bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, bake beans, I had scrambled egg as I don't like fried egg, and there was a slice of toast under the egg.  and three small hash browns. There should have been a slice of fried bread,  but I don't like fried bread so they left it off.   Honestly this was the small breakfast,  the large one was on an oval plate and had twice as much.
The owner was English and lived out there for six months of the year and then six months in the London,  hence the name Cockney Restaurant.
After eating this I did not want anything for the rest of the day.
When I get back from Sheffield I will tell you more about Halikidi.
Have a nice day

Holiday tatting

Hi,

This is what I can only call a total mess,  I did do a little tatting on holiday,  one piece I cant show you yet and the other it waiting for the ends to be sewn in,  But this is what you can call a total mess,  its supposed to be the woven bookmark which Carollyn and Wendy did,  well as you can see the picots are far too long.  I meant to take my picot measure with me and in the end I borrowed a ruler from the hotel and made one from a piece of cardboard from my notebook.
The thread is no 20 Lizbeth thread
This is going in the bin and I will start again,  after I come back from Sheffield,  home for five minuets and back up to Sheffield for another injection this time in the eye.  Perhaps when they get my eye right I might be able to make a better job of this bookmark.....  don't hold your breath.
Hope you are having a lovely weekend
                                            Hugs

CD Sunday Challenge - Things with Wheels

Hi,

This is a scheduled post as I am in Greece,  I will be  thinking of you on the beach in the sun.
Anyway this fortnight its Carol Choice and its things with wheels,  I used the La Pashe CD Something for Everyone,  and the BMX Bikes image which I decoupaged and the no 2 backing paper that went with the image,  I thought I would use a round card as its for a wheels challenge.  I matted the card onto a maroon card and also a Happy Birthday banner as well,  and then finished off the card with silver peel offs and corner pieces.  I great card I think for a male birthday.
If you would like to join in please come and join us we would love to see you here is the link for the CD Sunday Challenge blog
Have a lovely weekend
Until we meet again take care
