Hospital Tatting 22/25 motif challenge

Hi,

As promised this is the tatting I did in hospital,  it might look a lot but really its only a few bits of small items,  patterns I know mostly off by heart.   It kept my occupied during the long hours,   I was in a private room on my own due to the radio active treatment for the cancer.   Vernon was only allowed to visit two hours per day so he split into one hour in the afternoon and one hour in the evening.
So here is the above picture in smaller amounts.   You will have seen the patterns before but for new followers I will say what they are.

This is butterflies,   the two large butterflies are Mary Konior's in Turkish Altin Basak thread.  The smaller ones are bits left on shuttles which were Lizbeth thread Pineapple Parfait, and girly girl.

This is be-stitched hearts called Tatted Josephine Heart,   I used Lizbeth thread Girly girl no 20 for these
This heart is called Small Tatted Heart by Betsy Evans,   and again I used Lizbeth thread Girly girl  No.20
And finally a bookmark this is Kersti's Floral Tatted Bookmark which I used one of the balls of thread that I won from Rachel on intatters,
The thread is Lizbeth no 20 Vineyard Harvest.
I have put a close up at the bottom

Just a reminder Fox had problems this week and her blog address is now www.tat-ology.blogspot.ca,  if you have never visited her do pop along and see her tatting.

This was the view from my hospital room,  its looking over Sheffield, The hospital is called the Royal Hallamshire Hospital,  the hospital was brilliant I could not have asked for better care,  the food was brilliant,  the team of surgeons who preformed the operations were also brilliant. Its a huge hospital with 850 beds and 15,000 staff.  and they all appear to be happy well those I had were.  This type of problem with eyes only affects five to seven people in one million,   they don't always turn to cancer and stay benign for years as mine has proved.  I am going back up next week to see the Professor for a check up, I hope everything will be OK.
I hope you have a lovely weekend
Until we meet again Take care

Purple Twist

Hi

This is a scheduled post.

Today I thought you might like to see these tatted items, they are done in Lizbeth no 20 Purple Twist, I brought this thread by mistake I wanted to order the variegated green and something happen with the computer and I got this. Purple is really my colour but it has worked up well and makes a change from the normal colours I use.

The above is the Celtic 5 point motif, buts its 10 points as 5 do not sit with me, so I have done 10 and I think it looks better, the pattern is by Sue Hanson.

This is a selection of items, the butterfly and cross are Mary Koniors and the little cross is a pattern which was on "intatters" and I have to confess I cant remember who's it is.

This is a close up of it, it makes a lovely tiny cross.

Hope you are keeping well.

New Earrings, and new thread

Hi,

Its lovely bright sunny morning and the sky is blue with just a few white puffy clouds, so far its not rained, funny yesterday while Vernon was at work only 9 miles away it poured down where he worked, Mother said it rained yesterday shes only 6 miles away, well they might have heavy rain but the sun shone most of the day, I even went out into the garden and pulled up my Geraniums put them in pot and placed them in the porch for the winter before the frosts come. Should not have done it but left to Vernon they will be dead before he thinks about it. I am hoping when he retires next month the garden will be looking a lot better, I live in hopes, as you see the garden is down to me and so far this year I have been unable to do anything, so just taking a few geraniums out of the tubs and putting them in pot is a start.
Today I am showing a new pair of earrings they are just simple split rings, I have not thought of a name for them yet, they are nothing special but I am pleased with them, they have not been ironed so they will look better when I get the iron on them. but I wanted to show you, the thread is Lizbeth no 20 Raspberry Frappe, I really do love this colour thread.

This is a new thread I brought last week, called Butterfly breeze again Lizbeth no 20, I don't think this photo does it justice, as its a lovely random thread of colours of the rainbow. another one to put on the favorites list. The heart is by Be-stitched called Rose Heart, and the Butterfly is my old favorite by Mary Konior.

That's it today I hope you are keeping well, in the meantime take care

Just a few Tatted items I did while I was ill/holiday

Hi,
Its a very cloudy day, we had some light rain early on but so far the sun has not put his hat on and come out to play. Many of the tatters in the USA are complaining its too hot, please can we have some of your heat, as its a bit chilly over here.
Today I am bring you some things I have been doing while I was not only on holiday, but I have done since while I was getting over the operation.
The picture above shows you my Cymbinum Earrings and matching bracelet, I have put them to hang like a charm bracelet. It was done in white and Lisbeth Pink Parade with pearls in the middle of the Orchids.

This Rose heart done in white no 20 is a pattern from be-stitched
I rather like this heart and the rose is very easy to do.

This is a pair of Cymbinum Earrings this time in Lisbeth Falling leaves thread that Fox sent me, I love this thread and when I order some more I will be adding this thread to the order.

Tomorrow I have been asked to do a Tatting demo in Shepton Mallet, I have made these two cards to show that tatting can be put on a card, unfortunately I don't think I shall have time to make any more. I have also written a piece for anyone interested in tatting given then a little insight as to the art.
Both cards have a butterfly on the first one is in Altin Basak Turkist thread and the other is in Lisbeth thread Turquoise Twist.

Another bookmark from the Wrought Iron pattern by Mary Konior this time in Lisbeth thread called Caribbean again No 20.

These are some more strips for card makers, this time they are half an inch wide in Braided edging pattern which I found in a very old book. These will be going in my Esty store next week at 75p per strip and for UK orders postage free.

This is the last item a white bracelet with red beads, I just played with a pattern and this is the result. This is will be going into my Esty store also next week along with the pink/white set above.

Close up

There are a few more bits but I think I will leave it at that for now.

I am getting better slowly but I have to go back to the hospital re my mole hole as Melissa calls it, I will post more about that another day.

I hope you are keeping well and until we meet again in blog land take care

Bethanys bookmark

Hi,
The sun is shining and its quite a nice day OK theres a bit more cloud now but hopefully my washing will dry.
I am not feeling very good today and very down, I have an appointment at the doctors surgery later then I will tell what has been happening. Its getting to be a long saga now with this mole scar.
I thought I would show you the bookmark that I made for my grand daughter Bethany, she wants to learn tatting, but at the moment I don't feel well enough, but as soon as I am well enough I will buy her a shuttle and thread and get her started off.
This bookmark is from Tatting in Lace by Mary Konior and called Wrought Iron, I made it from Turkish thread Altin Basak no 3053 with glass pearls in the middle of the onion rings.
I hope you are keeping well and look forward to seeing you again, many thanks for visiting my blog today.

Network Pattern and My Orchid

Hi,

At the moment I am watching the weather, they say we are going to have rain but so far today my washing has been out and hopefully might get dry before the black clouds arrive and the heavens open. We had such beautiful weather in March and April and although I did manage to sit in the garden a couple of days last week, its not been so good this week.

I don't have much to bring you at the moment I have been working on something which was an idea from Suzanne but the pattern I did although I had not seen the original it is from something else and I have to start again, although Jane has said I can use it, I was going to name the pattern after Suzanne, so its back to the drawing board for something unique for her. Her son gets married tomorrow and I hope they have a lovely day and the weather is kind to them both. My congratulations are sent to both of them may they have many happy years together.
This doily I made years ago and I found it when I was emptying the units before we got the new furniture, I saved it for a day when I had nothing to post. Its from a book called Tatting with Visual patterns by Mary Konior, and the pattern was called Network. I know the cotton is by Coats and is a variegated pink. this is a close up for you.
Here is my Orchid now fully out in flower, I think I have already told you orchids are my favorite flower.

I am having physio now on my shoulder and arm, the left arm has been very painful and I can hardy use it at times, I had another session this morning, we were discussing how bad it was on Tuesday and how ill I was with the gall bladder pain, that the physio suddenly said that the two are connected in the back of her mind she is sure that people with gall bladder problems do have pain in the left shoulder, she given me some more exercises to do to get it or rather keep it working. I never did put the two together well why would I its different areas of the body.

I hope you are keeping well, and until we meet again in blog land take care

Tatted Bookmarks, Split Ring Cross and Unable to post comments

Hi,
I hope you are all keeping well, again for another day I have been unable to log in and leave comments on your lovely blogs, I hope blogger will get this problem sorted out for us all. Funny I can put a post on my blog but not leave comments, I hope to leave some comments when its working properly again, I promise to visit and catch up. I would like to say to Sarpreet I hope your mother gets better soon and its not serious. To Jane the crosses you have been showing us this week are lovely. thank you for sharing. To Janette your card is lovely. To Nic I hope you soon feel better. To those I have not included I will catch up with you.
Kevin said on my last but one post that we would be seeing more bookmarks, well Kevin you are right and here are a few I have been making.

These two are made from Lizbeth thread No 20 Turquoise Twist, one is white and Turquoise Twist, and the other is all Turquoise Twist. Both are the same Wrought Iron Pattern By Mary Konior.
Oh and the one above is in Lizbeth Thread Sea Shell No 20

These are in Altin Basak Thread which is a Turkish thread, there are two different patterns in this picture one is Wrought Iron and the other on is Rockingham both by Mary Konior. I had trouble with the Rockingham pattern and nearly gave up but with a little swearing and unpicking I got there in the end.

Now I have added this into the post this cross
is something else I am not a lover of split rings in fact I try to avoid them, so why you ask did I try this pattern, simply I like it and thought I would do it, well here's the result, either I am getting better at split rings or they are not as hard as I think, this only took me a couple of hours, amazed myself and only one slight unpick. The cross is by Rachael Mohler and she calls it Split Ring Cross. Every ring is a split ring. I added a ring at the bottom as I did not do a tussle.

I hope you have a lovely weekend, another long weekend for us in the UK, but the weather does not look as if its going to be as good as the last bank holiday we had. I am in Cheese and Grain this Saturday doing my craft table, I hope I will be OK and not in too much pain I am only allowed to sit while hubby does it, I am there to do technical, he does not do technical questions. At least he does it for me, there have been more bad days than good days recently.
Until we meet again in blog land take care.
Hugs

Spring Bookmark exchange

Hi,
As a member of Intatters we are doing a Spring Bookmark Exchange, I have been unable to get a really good picture so I am sorry the quality of the picture is not good. The pattern is Wrought Iron from Tatting in Lace by Mary Knoior. This I tatted in Lizbeth no 20 Sea Shell, which is the colours of Light shell pink and antique violet I added glass pink pearl beads in the centre of the rings just to add a little more interest. The teasel on the end of the twisted robe I found on the Internet a few weeks ago, I found that my hands are not as flexible as they used to be and twisting the thread was hard but I got there in the end, I think this needs a lot more practice. This is going in the post today to the nominated member.
I found this a lovely pattern and although I have had this book since it was published in the 1980's I cant remember doing this pattern before, and I have already done another one in blue, as I am on a roll with this pattern you maybe seeing a few more over the next few months.
I have not been very good over the last couple of weeks, I have had several days when I just cant face food and feeling sick all day theres still no news on the op so its just a matter of waiting. The GP did do some blood tests to check nothing else was going wrong but it appears that its the gall bladder that's playing up.

I thought you might like to see my orchid with three flowers out and another one looks like it will be out within a few days.
I hope you are keeping well and hopefully the weather will improve and the lovely sunshine and warmth will come back, then I can enjoy my new garden relaxer chair. Today is dull and dizzly must not moan the gardens and farmers do need the rain.
Until we meet again in blog land, take care

Antique Hankerchief, Tatted Crosses and Butterflies in New Thread

Hi,

Well the sun is shining at the moment but we have had a lot of showers today and some have been heavy. If you are wondering where the sun and the beautiful weather has gone. Vernon has brought me a lovely chair to sit in the garden while I am ill. He collected it on Friday yes that's when the weather broke. He brought it from Focus, but they were out of stock in the meantime the chair came in and someone in the store sold it to someone else. I was angry at that moment but the salesman said that since Wednesday they were in administration and he was unable to order any more, but I could have the display chair. Its a lovely padded chair to relax in, I think there is also another reason from November he will be retired so what will he be doing next summer sitting in the sun on the Patio in my chair, while I go to work, that is if I find another job. Hopefully the sun will come back and I will be able to use my chair in the sun.
These photos are a handkerchief that I found in my draw, the tatted edging was tatted by an old Aunt who used to come and stay with my fathers parents when I was very small girl, she said when I was older she would teach me tatting........ she died before she did, I have told you about her before in the post "How I started tatting 16.2.11". These two handkerchiefs were tatted by her and are at least 50 years old. They have not been used for many years, and I have washed them, ironed them and put them back in the draw.

This beautiful thread was some of the thread sent to me by Fox of tat-ology this thread is by Lizbeth and is called Countryside no 20 I really love this colour way.

Also she sent this thread also by Lizbeth called Falling Leaves, they are both lovely to tat with and I have already put the name down for my next order of thread.

This thread was sent to me as a sample from Roseground

This is also Lizbeth called Grape Pizzaz no 40, a lovely combination of colours, another one to keep in mind when ordering in the future. I thought I might also make some orchid earrings with this thread. I will post when I have make some.

Last but not forgotten this thread is Flora made in Bulgaria, I found this thread hard and not as soft to work with here I made the same cross and and a small one from the rest of the thread on the shuttle. This is a pair of my orchid earrings I made with it and used Chinese crystal beads in the middle.

The cross and butterfly pattern are both by Mary Konior.

I hope today's post is interesting and you have enjoyed visiting my blog, I am sorry I still have no news about my pending op, and the last couple of weeks I have not been feeling very good and had a lot of pain. With the NHS today you have to be half dead before they do anything, so its just a case of waiting. I have by a stoke of luck got my appointment for physio on my neck and arm brought forward, I have a buckled disc and it looks as if its causing more problems, my left arm is continually cold and painful, I cannott lift it or use it very well. Frome Hospital rang me up last week and said that I was waiting too long for an appointment for physio and that they would take it over and do it, so I am hopefully going on Wednesday afternoon. I will let you know how I get on.

Well I hope the purchase of my chair does not change the weather too much and the beautiful weather we had comes back, in the meantime I hope you are well and take care

Hugs

St Georges Day, and Happy Easter

Hi,

Happy St Georges Day.

Also Happy Birthday to Gary our step son.

This is a scheduled post as I will be at my usual craft fair in Frome, which again this month my husband Vernon will be doing for me as long as I sit and only answer technical questions, he does not do technical.

During the week Jane of "Tatting and not a lot else" did a post about a piece of tatting she had found, she had been reading my mind or two great minds think alike as I found a piece of tatting at the bottom of my basket that I keep all my knitting needles in.

I have washed it and looked at it and found the pattern. I have no idea when I did this tatting but its found "Tatting in Lace" by Mary Konior, published in 1988. I know I brought this book soon after it was published I can only say I tatted this piece in the late 1988's
I think the thread is by Anchor and is gold and orange no 20 I have none left so I cant look at the ball to tell you exactly what it is, which is a pity as I did love this thread. The pattern you ask is Rose Garden
and Windmills put together to make a doily.

As the cloth is not finished perhaps one day I will try and either match up the thread with something similar or try and see if they make this thread any more and then sort it out and finished it.

I still like the pattern and putting two patterns together make this piece different.

I would like to wish you all a very Happy Easter and hope the weather stays this beautiful for the holiday, until we meet again in blog land Take care

Hugs

New Threads

Hi, So far today has been dry although the weather said we will get rain later. Its been a lovely spring so far and very dry, although Vernon has not started on the garden some of the plants really do need some rain. I am one who would like the rain at night and sun during the day. Vernon did my craft table again on Saturday, it was a quite day, even though Mothers Day is just around the corner. He only did it on one condition I sit and do nothing but answer technical questions, he does not do technical. Today I am showing you my new threads, I brought a load before Christmas and I am still wading though them, so there are more to come. Only tatters get excited about threads, believe me threads and colours play a large part of a tatters world. Whenever I get a new colour I make a butterfly, it shows me how the colour is going to work up, this pattern is from Mary Konior, I have made so many over the years I know the pattern off by heart now. This is cotton candy Lizbeth thread no 20.
This is Tropical Punch again Lizbeth no 20, I like this colour with the yellow, orange, and two shades of pink, very zingy colours. I made a pair of my Cymbidium Earrings but I used a small bead, also a small basket.

This is thread I was sent by Margaretha (Typstatting) in Australia, again I made the butterfly and also a another pair of Cymbidium Earrings this time I used one of my new pale pink pearls that I got last week, I think the pearl looks lovely and I will be using them instead of the small beads in future.
The next picture is another thread she sent its lovely and I am really pleased with it, the colours of yellow, green and white although the picture looks more blue than green, but it is green.

I have found out that they are Turkish threads, so when I buy some more threads I will be adding this to my order.

I still have a few more threads that I have not got around to so watch out there will be more to come.

I hope you are keeping well and enjoying the lovely weather we have at the moment while it lasts. In the meantime until we meet again in blog land, take care.

Hugs

Margaret
