February's Pinterest challenge by the Pin Chicks

Hi,
Well that mouth went fast and here we are again with another pinterest challenge,  we also have a new member which I will link at the end.
This pattern was a free pattern on Pinterest and here is the link to the page  the design is by http://www.verbenacreazioni.it/  and is no 18 Modello Frozen.   There is a video showing how to make this design in needle tatting.   Now here's  the problem I don't needle tat,  so I did a play around with the design and changed it into a shuttle tatting design,  the changes are very slight,  To make it into an earring I added a small ring at the top for the ring,   then the first ring (a) I did a split ring down into the design,  the rings are lettered so B and D I did not do a joining picot I added a single bead and left them loose.  It worked.

Now I thought it would look lovely as a pendant but the earring size to me was too small for a pendant,   So I doubled all the stitch counts adding three beads on rings B and D the chains are long and the rings are very big.  At the end a very small ring with a large bead in the centre,  I only did this as an after thought but if I was doing this again I would do it at the beginning.  I have not blocked the pendant yet as I wanted to post it with the earrings.
I am happy with this design and delighted that this months as turned out so well.
I used christmas red Lizbeth thread no 20 on both earrings and pendant.
Now as I write this and schedule it for the 28th I have no idea what the others have done,  so can I suggest you pop over to the blogs and see what they have done.  We never tell each other what we are doing or making so its always a surprise.

Roses are red knitted cup cakes

Hi,
I made these knitted cup cakes a couple of weeks ago,  they are looking a little drunk they do sit up straight but decided buy the time I had them on the window sill and taking the picture they would fall about.  I made the red roses from ribbon and sewed them on top.  On the left side there is a close up of the ribbon roses.
Hope you have a lovely weekend
   Hugs

My goal for three months

Hi,

Do you remember this post      that at present I am doing a Fibromalgia course at the Mineral Hospital in Bath,  the first week we were set a goal for the week,  well I set myself tatting the middle of the Land of Laces Heart doily,  I am using Lizbeth Cranberry Bush No 20.  I completed the middle in the week set for the goal.
Well now they have set a goal for three months,   and as you can see by the picture I have done the next row in Light Leaf Green no 683 in no 20 lizbeth thread.   My goal is to get the final row of the doily by the time we go back to the hospital for a review of our progress.
I have started the next row and I am back using Cranberry Bush .
I am hoping to get to the final row and hopefully get a few hearts done.  I am preparing a post about the Mineral Hospital and its history.
Until we meet again take care

CD Sunday Challenge - Add a button or buttons

Hi,
On this very wet morning here in Somerset,  we had three lovely days sunshine but very cold very hard frosts at night and now we are back into the rain.
The CD Sunday Challenge this fortnight is add a button or buttons,  I am not a lover of buttons,  I have a bag of buttons for crafting with so after getting the whole bag out and looking I found these different shapes,  unfortunately the bag seems to have only one or two of each shape, colour or size of all the buttons.  So choice was limited.
For the image and backing paper I choose Joanna Sheens CD Enchanted Dreams,  these are lovely images always more in the picture than the eye sees at first,  you really have to look deeply into the picture to find the whole small scenes.  I matted the image onto gold card and then embossed a sheet of pink card for a base,   I used my new dies for the leaves added bow of ribbon and a flower to complete the spray at the top,  and then placed the buttons top and bottom.
Not my best effort,  the mojo disappeared when it came to the buttons,  but something different.
Hope you have a lovely day and stay dry.

Happy Valentines Day / It's finished 25/25 Motif Challenge

Hi,
Happy Valentines Day,  I hope you have a lovely day,  we are hoping if its a fine day that we will go out for the day.
This is a new pattern to me and I did use red thread,  but it came out slightly pink,  I have no idea now how to photo red,  this is not the first item that I have made recently in red only to find the photos come out pinky. I wanted to get this post done so I have not blocked the heart and the light is not good enough to sew in the ends.  This pattern is call Tat Chat Heart  by LaRae Mikulecky link to pattern.  I used Lizbeth thread no 20 in red.  Its a nice heart and I think I will be making more of these.

                                                          ---ooOoo---

Here it is,   do you remember that I never finished the Pinterest challenge for January well its finished and thank goodness,   Yes I am still sick of it.  link to the piece I wrote about it last time.   Shannon put the butterfly on the 25 motif challenge site and she thought it was similar to a butterfly in the book New Dimensions in Tatting by To De Haan-Van Beer,   I have a copy of this book which I have not looked at for a long time,  yes on page 39,  the body of the butterfly is done in wool and a chain doubled in half and then the wool is made into an antenna.   The butterfly is there but the tatter who put the pattern on pinterest and putting her name (Cxema K MoAenn 53) on it changed the body by making a tatted body and putting beads in it and added bead to the bottom of the wings and beads throughout the wings. Therefore making it her butterfly.  Looking at the pattern in the book I would not have made it,   the pattern looks a nightmare and believe me its no better in the diagram which she put on pinterest.
I did change one thing on the pattern I added a ring on the last chain at the top so a ring could be put on the butterfly to connect it to a chain,  see photo below.
Now its on to February's Pinterest challenge which I have decided on and just a question of making, so watch this space as they say.

I hope you have a lovely day,  and until we meet again take care

CD Sunday Challenge - Seasons

 Hi,
I am hoping that the internet stays on long enough for me to put this on,   two days the internet powered by BT has played about and not worked all day,  hopefully it will stay on today.
Enough of my moan.
Today this is my card for the CD Sunday Challenge this fortnight its seasons,  and I found this delightful image which I used from Joanna Sheen CD The Pamela West Collection,   this image reminded me of summer.       I matted the image onto silver card,  the green card I embossed from my new machine,  ( I am still learning and enjoying my christmas present,)  the backing paper was from the same CD but from a different image. The dies are from friends thank you ladies,  I printed a computer sentiment "Lazy Hazy Days of Summer" and finished off the card with some flowers and a ribbon bow.
Vernon says its Lazy crazy days of summer but I still like Lazy Hazy days of summer so whatever the song was,  and which ever one of us is right its staying as it is.
Hope you like the card and have a nice day
